However, research has shown that only a small number of VSCs are directly involved in ‘integration through sport’ practices. To increase the number of VSCs that are willing and able to significantly implement targeted integration measures, it is necessary to understand how ‘integration through sport policies’ can actually reach the local level and impact practices. In this paper, we propose a conceptual framework that considers and bundles current integration research in organized sports. To address the complexity, a multi-level framework will be developed that helps to understand the roll-out strategies and implementation processes of integration programmes for migrants in organized sports. Additionally, it helps to support practitioners in developing appropriate evaluation schemes, or revising existing integration programmes at the local, regional or national level in order to increase the number of integrative VSCs.","PeriodicalId":47879,"journal":{"name":"Sport in Society","volume":"7 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135973108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Qualitative data is collected through interviews with senior personnel and archival documents and is analysed through employing the Advocacy Coalition Framework to highlight the change in the belief system of the two parties and the interaction between the policy subsystem and the broader political and social economic system. The findings reveal the shift in the belief system of respective Coalitions and the change in the power dynamics. The paper concludes with a discussion concerning the ACF’s four pathways of policy change and a response to one of the questions that is raised in the ACF literature for further researches.Keywords: BOCOGiPCadvocacy coalition frameworknegotiationpolicy change Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the authors.Additional informationFundingThis work was supported by Beijing Municipal Social Science Foundation.","PeriodicalId":47879,"journal":{"name":"Sport in Society","volume":"260 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135320507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the concept of life skills is influenced by Bronfenbrenner’s work, exploration of the bioecological theory in sport psychology is limited. The bioecological theory was used to explore the life skills development of Júlia, a 38-year-old woman who competed nationally in track and field and internationally in rugby. Júlia completed a timeline and engaged in four interviews, and four social agents were interviewed to nuance her developmental journey. Inductive dialogic narrative analysis was conducted to present Júlia’s journey through creative nonfiction. Júlia developed life skills (e.g. communication, teamwork) from progressively more complex interactions through interpersonal relationships, experiences, and challenges in different contexts (e.g. school, work). Insights concerning the bidirectional nature of life skills development and transfer are discussed, as well as the influence sustained by the person’s biopsychosocial characteristics, culture, and time.Keywords: Human developmentbioecological theorylife skills developmentlife skills transferhigh-performance sport Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Notes1 Júlia referred to “kissing” as giving a kiss on the cheek, which is a common form of greeting in Brazil for all people regardless of age, gender, or prior relationship.2 Form of restarting the match after a minor rule violation that involves players packing down together to push the opposing team and gain ball possession.Additional informationFundingThis study was financed in part by the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior – Brasil (CAPES) through Finance Code 001 and CAPES-PrInt Program.","PeriodicalId":47879,"journal":{"name":"Sport in Society","volume":"292 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136160859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While there has been some focus in recent years regarding this topic, there are limited reviews of the literature regarding the experiences of elite athletes with pregnancy and motherhood. Adopting a Scoping Review approach, we reviewed 40 studies exploring motherhood and elite sport. Overall, the studies analysed for this scoping review provide a mixed picture of the biomedical and social aspects related to female elite athletes and pregnancy. The bio-medically focused studies tended to adopt a quantitative or mixed-method perspective with a predominant focus on physical changes, injuries, and performance outcomes, whilst reviewed qualitative studies focused on a variety of social factors that can impact a female athlete’s return to elite sport including childcare and access to maternity leave.","PeriodicalId":47879,"journal":{"name":"Sport in Society","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135569351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
