Negotiation stands as an essential and integral precursor to the arbitral resolution. In this comprehensive review, we delve into the jurisprudence of the Permanent Court of International Justice (P.C.I.J.) and the International Court of Justice (I.C.J.), shedding light on the critical role of negotiation in achieving agreements and peaceful dispute resolutions. The prevailing customary foundation mirrors an era in international law marked by the \"quasi-legislative role\" of traditional sources. The obligation to negotiate may seemingly encroach on State sovereignty while endeavoring to establish a framework for nonviolent conflict resolution. Thus, it becomes imperative to initially address the juxtaposition between the sovereignty principle and the obligation to negotiate. Considering these realities, sovereignties are compelled to find common ground, underscoring the pivotal role of diplomatic negotiation in binding what is commonly referred to as the community of nations, evolving towards a higher level of political awareness ensure sustainable commitments between Nations and international stakeholders.","PeriodicalId":474786,"journal":{"name":"Arts & humanities open access journal","volume":"64 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135317214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dialogue between indigenous people and the museum is based on the idea of collaborative museology, centered on the symmetrical relationship in which the relationship between indigenous people and objects identified as belonging to their culture is described. As a methodological resource, six “memory workshops” were held, when the artifacts were presented to indigenous people who described the objects, their uses and names in their own language. We chose to initially outline some aspects and concepts that are mobilized in the research, such as ethnic identity, collaborative museology and the context of museums in Brazil with ethnographic collections. Secondly, we present details of the process for reflection on how identity manifests itself in the experience of collaborative museology with the Sateré-Mawé people in the aforementioned museum. The observation was carried out during the workshops, held within the scope of the Amazon Museum with sateré mawé coming from four communities located in the metropolitan region of Manaus.","PeriodicalId":474786,"journal":{"name":"Arts & humanities open access journal","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135666371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Effective strategies for fostering long-term retention and comprehension of vocabulary are of utmost importance in the field of ESL education. Three key retrieval practice techniques, namely, The Brain Dump, Low-Stakes Quizzes, and Flashcards, were examined, and their advantages, drawbacks, and potential impact on ESL learners were discussed. Additionally, the integration of digital technology with traditional retrieval practice tools is discussed, highlighting the evolving landscape of language learning strategies. This discussion emphasizes the significance of retrieval practice in enhancing ESL vocabulary acquisition, offering educators and learners valuable tools to reinforce memory traces, engage in active recall, and promote metacognition. However, challenges, such as time constraints, test anxiety, and rote memorization, must be carefully considered in their implementation. Overall, this paper provides insights into the practical utilization of retrieval practice techniques, offering educators a nuanced perspective on improving ESL learners' long-term vocabulary retention and comprehension.","PeriodicalId":474786,"journal":{"name":"Arts & humanities open access journal","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135820868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though the Independent Counsel Law was created in 1978 with strong support and eventually renewed twice, allegations of intrusiveness, ineffectiveness, and waste of government resources resulted in its lapse in 1992. The Independent Counsel Law was resurrected just two years later amid charges involving President Bill Clinton’s land deals. In addition to covering events associated with the law’s rollercoaster ride from 1978 through 1994, the essay presents arguments for and against the renewal of the Independent Counsel Law.","PeriodicalId":474786,"journal":{"name":"Arts & humanities open access journal","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135949218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study intends to explore the conceptual landscape of contrastive Linguistics as a new discipline. Provided that disciplinary newness is always questioned from various perspectives, the explorative approach will be helpful for the description of the discipline’s conceptual landscape. Findings suggest that its conceptual landscape gets a wide variety of concepts classified as being specialized, discipline-related, operative, borrowed, coined, and methodological.","PeriodicalId":474786,"journal":{"name":"Arts & humanities open access journal","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135867927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among cancer types, lung cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer hold the top three positions. Following these, digestive system cancers are the most frequently observed. The rising cancer-related mortality rates and potential difficulties during treatment exacerbate the fears and concerns of cancer patients. Throughout history, cancer has been attempted to be explained through theories such as lymphatic, humoral, blastoma, trauma, chronic irritation, and parasitic hypotheses. In contemporary times, a wealth of information exists concerning the roles of viruses and bacteria in cancer development. Among bacteria, the sole member acknowledged as a human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is Helicobacter pylori. While there is no conclusive evidence regarding Streptococcus bovis's capacity to induce cancer, substantial suspicions surround this matter. This review delves into the relationship between the Streptococcus bovis group of bacteria, which is associated with cancer but not listed by the IARC, and colorectal cancer.","PeriodicalId":474786,"journal":{"name":"Arts & humanities open access journal","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136100599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the 101 purposively-selected student leaders who participated in the study, more than two-thirds are female, a majority has more than four years of experience, and none have GWAs below 2.00. They experience moderate to high-level burnout, mostly from feelings of depersonalization. Results further show that sex, leadership experience, or academic standing does not significantly affect the burnout risk of tertiary student leaders. Therefore, schools must mitigate burnout, empower personal achievement, and bridge less experienced student leaders to their more experienced peers.","PeriodicalId":474786,"journal":{"name":"Arts & humanities open access journal","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135258190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
