Additionally, the study investigated how employees' efforts to ingratiate themselves mediate the relationship between perceived corporate politics and career satisfaction. The study collected cross-sectional perceptual data from employees in the banking industry in Nepal, analyzing 725 responses using a positivist research approach. Data analysis employed a hierarchical regression model with SPSS, yielding several significant findings. Firstly, it was observed that employees' perceptions of corporate politics harmed their career satisfaction. Secondly, the study found that employees' ingratiation behavior mediated the association between perceived corporate politics and career satisfaction. Thirdly, the overall impact of perceived corporate politics on career satisfaction was -0.17 (indicated as B = -0.17). Fourthly, the direct influence of perceived corporate politics on career satisfaction was -0.35 (represented by B = -0.35). Lastly, the indirect impact of perceived corporate politics on career satisfaction through ingratiation was 0.18 (B = 0.18). Based on these findings, the study suggests implications and directions for future research in this domain.","PeriodicalId":473728,"journal":{"name":"Nepal journal of multidisciplinary research","volume":"59 3‐4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135868311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this regard, the study focused on examining Age Diversity, Gender Diversity and Teaching Performance in Higher Education in the Kathmandu Valley. The study draws on comprehensive data collected from 421 faculty members utilizing a quantitative method. The study is confined solely to private management colleges and the primary tool utilized to gather data was a questionnaire. Frequency, Chi-square, and Pearson Correlation were used as a means to assess the objective. Findings show that private management colleges in the Kathmandu Valley have given greater importance to age with the intention of improving the performance of their teaching faculty. Gender differences were generally no-significant, except in fresher recruitment views. The research established a significant relationship between age diversity and teaching performance. This study employed cross-tabulation techniques combining age diversity and gender diversity as independent variables with teaching performance as the dependent variable. This particular approach is unique, as it has not been extensively investigated in prior studies within the Kathmandu Valley context, setting this study apart. Future research could extend this study to encompass educational, experiential, and ethnic diversity's impact on teaching performance.","PeriodicalId":473728,"journal":{"name":"Nepal journal of multidisciplinary research","volume":"57 12","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135868317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Students need to use effective Vocabulary Learning Strategies (VLS) to learn and retain new words and expand their word knowledge. This quantitative study used a descriptive survey research design to find out the VLS of class ten students. The participants consisted of 30 class ten students who were sampled using stratified sampling method. The data was collected employing structured questionnaire which included 30 rating scale questions. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and frequency counts to identify the most and least used strategies. The findings revealed that the students used a range of strategies, but some were more dominant than others. One of the most common cognitive strategies was guessing the meaning of unknown words from context, indicating that the students relied on their prior knowledge and reading skills. Similarly, one of the most popular social strategies was asking for clarification from teachers or peers, suggesting that the students valued the role of interaction and feedback in vocabulary learning. These results demonstrated that the students were flexible and resourceful in their strategy use and could adapt to different vocabulary learning tasks and goals. The study has some limitations, such as the limited sample size and the potential inaccuracies in self-reported data. Therefore, further research with larger and more representative samples is recommended. Despite these limitations, this study contributed to the understanding of VLS among class ten students in Nepal and offered implications for vocabulary teaching and learning.","PeriodicalId":473728,"journal":{"name":"Nepal journal of multidisciplinary research","volume":"47 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135820161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Action research consists of taking action and analyzing how it affects student learning. Though there are two components namely ‘action’ and ‘research’ at the heart of action research, classroom teachers often prioritize action over research. The goal of ‘action’ in action research is to bring about positive change, and improvement in the participants’ social situation. Through self-reflection, analysis, methodical planning, and execution, action research fosters classroom transformation through improving teaching-learning practices. Action research is a qualitative, disciplined method of inquiry carried out by and for individuals who are carrying out the action. Action research is primarily used to support the \"actor\" in enhancing and/or modifying his or her activities. This paper discusses the fundamental philosophical presuppositions, paradigms, history, and theoretical bases of action research. The paper also describes the primary methodologies and techniques and tools used in action research. In addition, the paper presents an action research template which can be used by English teachers for classroom purposes.","PeriodicalId":473728,"journal":{"name":"Nepal journal of multidisciplinary research","volume":"47 18","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135820150","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, staff of Nepalese commercial banks were given questionnaires as part of a descriptive research design in order to gather primary data. The sample size is 120 individuals from an actual sample. This finding suggests that workers have a strong understanding of external CSR activities taking place outside of the organization. It is also clear that employees are conscious of the effects of the CSR efforts and give them a favorable evaluation. The study also investigates the link between work happiness, organizational engagement, and overall views of CSR and employee perceptions of external CSR actions outside the firm. This finding suggests that workers in Nepal's banking industry may see external CSR efforts as positively affecting their loyalty to the firm and job happiness. The relevance of this poll emphasizes how crucial an external CSR strategy is to successfully raising employee happiness and fostering organizational engagement. The report's suggestions for commercial banks are meant to help them match their CSR initiatives with employee expectations and values to foster a productive workplace. Future study objectives include looking at ways to increase employee involvement in CSR initiatives, assessing the long-term effects of CSR efforts, and doing industry comparison studies. Overall, this study helps understand how Nepalese banking industry employees feel about external CSR initiatives.","PeriodicalId":473728,"journal":{"name":"Nepal journal of multidisciplinary research","volume":"47 21","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135820165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study consisted of a descriptive research design based on secondary data that were collected from different published documents. The review was made through descriptive comparison, percentages, graphs, and ratios to compare whether the country’s status is in line with the global context. The study concludes that the proportion of the population having safely managed water services in Nepal (16 percent) is quite lower than the global average (73 percent). Moreover, the proportion of the population having safely managed sanitation services in Nepal (51 percent) is slightly lower than the global average (57 percent). Similarly, the proportion of the population having basic hygiene services in Nepal (64 percent) is lower than the global average (75 percent). Furthermore, the findings on the status of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) systems are mixed in the context of Nepal. Some of them have good progress and some of them need to be accelerated to go a long way to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) by 2030. The study further concludes that institutionalization, policy and legislation, and accountability mechanisms at the federal level have been initiated while it is yet to materialize at the provincial and local levels. In the case of planning, only 10 percent of rural/municipalities completed their WASH plan. In terms of finance, there is not only a resource gap but also two-thirds of the total country’s WASH budget has been allocated at the federal level. Action research should be prioritized to capture learning and awareness leading to adaptation and knowledge creation in the sector. The study can be extended by incorporating the citizens’ views on WASH systems strengthening in the context of Nepal.","PeriodicalId":473728,"journal":{"name":"Nepal journal of multidisciplinary research","volume":"50 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135819452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Education is the means to alter society, economic progress, and human wellbeing. The enhancement of a nation's socioeconomic position may be achieved through improving its education system and using technology. The experiences seen in both industrialized and developing countries provide evidence that educational development initiatives have a transformative impact on the socioeconomic position of these nations. The experiences of Nepal indicate that the development of education has played a crucial role in facilitating both social change and economic prosperity. This study employs a descriptive approach by using secondary data and adopting a secondary research strategy. The study's findings suggest that education development plays a crucial role in driving socioeconomic change within the specific context of Nepal. Exploring the relationships between these workplace stress factors and job performance was also a specific objective. Convenience sampling was utilized for collecting the required information from 220 management education instructors for the study. According to descriptive statistics, management education teachers reported moderate levels of work stress, higher levels of job security stress, and moderate levels of shift work stress. Analysis of correlation revealed that job security and shift work stress were significantly positively correlated with job performance, whereas work stress was weakly and insignificantly negatively correlated. Regression analysis further supported these findings, highlighting the positive influence of job security and shift work stress on job performance. These findings emphasize the significance of addressing job stress factors, particularly job security stress and shift work stress, to improve the job performance of management instructors. Future research could investigate additional factors and interventions to comprehend better and manage occupational stress in this population. The uniqueness of this study stems from its specific focus on management education, investigation of occupational stress factors, and ability to inform tailored interventions that benefit both educational institutions and management educators.","PeriodicalId":473728,"journal":{"name":"Nepal journal of multidisciplinary research","volume":"47 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135819992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
