Kemaro Island is part of Palembang City, which is administered by Kelurahan 1 Ilir Palembang City. Due to limited accessibility, circumstances for providing basic requirements, particularly food and clean water, are severely constrained. Foods such as vegetables and fruit are still scarce in this area, particularly milk, cereals, and other nutritional foods. Thus, it is vital to undertake measures to boost the availability and accessibility of food for independent home farmers in this region, given the territory's status as a distinct island. Efforts to enhance the food security of farmer households on Kemaro Island can be accomplished through the implementation of a participatory in Rumah Cukup (Rucup) program. Extension is conducted as a coaching and mentoring activity aimed at enhancing the food security of farmer households through the Rumah Cukup (Rucup) initiative, in which farmer households cultivate a variety of horticulture commodities.","PeriodicalId":47329,"journal":{"name":"Community Development Journal","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136036352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

 Garbage is an incessant problem in everyday life. Every day garbage is always there and increasing. Before the existence of the Independent Youth Waste Bank, the people of Srengseng Paddy were very indifferent to waste. People used to hoard or burn the garbage they have, not infrequently even throw garbage into the river. The purpose of this study is to find out the steps of BSPM in managing waste so that it can be useful and of economic value. This type of research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, in-depth interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The technique of checking the validity of the data used in this study is the triangulation technique. Through this article, the author will convey the implementation of the Mandiri Youth Waste Bank in improving the economic status and community empowerment in Betawi Village. Includes planning, implementation, evaluation, follow-up, and impact. As well as supporting and inhibiting factors. The conclusion that can be drawn is that the BSPM program is running well from the statements of 96.7% of customers. Evaluations of the BSPM program include socialization, training in sorting waste, and making compost that has not been effective. The follow-up of the program evaluation is still not effective and efficient. The impact of the BSPM program includes 90% of the sample choosing to be more concerned with the environment, 83.3% of the sample choosing to be aware of the benefits of waste, 60% of the sample choosing to improve the economy, 50% of the sample choosing to add insight, and 30% of the sample choosing to improve skills/ability. The supporting factors for the running of BSPM are the moral support from the RW management, RT management and the community. As well as the inhibiting factors of the BSPM program, namely the absence of tools that can be used to recycle waste from government agencies and poor communication from internal BSPM.

A survey conducted in January 2023 with local health officials found that out of 170 toddlers, 30 were malnourished in the form of underweight, 18 toddlers and 12 toddlers were indicated to be stunted with parents who had low economic status. The activity method uses an assessment-based community development approach through seminars, training and mentoring. The instrument uses questionnaires and checklists. Indicators of achievement are the level of knowledge, skill level and income of families with infants and toddlers at risk of malnutrition and stunting. The target partners are 55 health cadres and 55 mothers who have babies and toddlers aged 5 years in the Sidoarjo area. Bali tourism includes a significant portion of water sports like surfing, diving, rafting, and swimming on beaches, lakes, and rivers. Swimming pools and other activities are available at amusement parks. One of the most common events in water tourism is almost drowning. There were 9 fatalities and 300 drowning instances in the Kuta beach area alone, according to the 2018 data. Because it is essential for tourist actors, especially those associated with water leisure, to acquire Basic Life Support (BLS) training, especially in saving drowning victims, the success of the rescue of drowning victims greatly depends on the speed and precision of administering BLS. The administration of the Quest San Denpasar Hotel, where Partners work, wishes to offer first aid training for accidents, particularly for drowning victims, as none of the hotel staff have ever had first aid training. Ten hotel staff members attended the training on October 29, 2022, at the Quest San Denpasar Hotel. The training provided is in the form of theory and practice of identifying drowning victims, activating the emergency system, evacuating victims from the waters to land, providing BLS, and sending victims to the nearest health facility. Before the training, a pre-test was carried out and afterward, a post-test was carried out, from the results of these tests it could be concluded that there was an increase in the participants' knowledge of 32%, and from BLS practice all participants were able to assist properly.","PeriodicalId":47329,"journal":{"name":"Community Development Journal","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135183024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of the study is to develop an anti-corruption mechanism (food distribution aptitude for eligibility) that can remedy the structural implications of food parcel corruption during a pandemic. A qualitative exploratory review approach was adopted in the study. The reviewed studies revealed that the currently existing systems of food distribution failed due to poor recipient identification and vetting, systems manipulation by officials, lack of tracking devices during distribution, and ghost recipients. The study concludes that the divisions, bureaucracy, maladministration and corruption revealed in literature among the government have adversely impacted the welfare of the vulnerable and marginalized groups who reside in the informal settlements. Those in need of food parcels suffer at the hands of corrupt officials and their family members due to an unmonitored distribution scheme. The study model is expected to assist non-profit organizations, and government initiatives in selecting worthy beneficiaries during and post pandemics. The model is also expected to assist in removing the potential ills of the system, minimize system manipulation and corruption, and ensure transparency during food parcel distribution to the needy in times of distress.","PeriodicalId":47329,"journal":{"name":"Community Development Journal","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135181129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
