Twenty-two African banks were selected to examine the entry mode and number of foreign outlets. The study affirmed that most African banks expanded their operations internationally via acquisitions and strategic alliances. At the same time, the motive for expansion is linked to market development to serve customers operating in overseas markets, government policies, and strategic knowledge sourcing. Furthermore, some reasons identified include expanding operations, defensive expansion, and protecting existing bank client relations. The study recommends that African banks should strive to adapt different internationalisation strategies primarily driven by their desire to gain knowledge.","PeriodicalId":473245,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Management Studies and Development","volume":"123 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136253200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The amount of bribe provided differs by type and nature of services. This paper aims to assess the level of corruption in Nepal. It analyses the additional amount the service receivers supplied to the public officials and their determinants using logistic regression. It uses cross-sectional data collected by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority in 2017 from 1668 service receivers who received service out of 3400 applicants seeking different public services. It is revealed that the CPI score is 34, which indicates that the level of corruption is high in Nepal. Among the service receivers, 39% provided bribes to public officials and used intermediaries to complete their work, increasing public service costs. Analysing the determinants of giving fixes shows that gender, education, number of times visiting public offices, perception about the staff behaviour, age and the occupation of the service receiver were significant variables. These findings imply that it is crucial to promote integrity and accountability among public officials by enforcing and monitoring the compliance mechanism and providing different benefits to motivate them to deliver quality services on time. It is equally essential to develop transparent approaches and tools for service delivery.","PeriodicalId":473245,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Management Studies and Development","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135620861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Customer perception maps were constructed by asking customers to provide overall similarity ratings for Brand Equity and Service Quality pairs on a metric scale. The study included Bank A, Bank B, Bank C, Bank D, and Bank E customers in Indonesia. One hundred eight respondents were sampled using the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) method, which groups many variables into several factors with similar characteristics. Additionally, the Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) method was used, a data analysis technique used to explore the data structure based on similarities or dissimilarities. Based on the analysis results, it was found that according to the perceptions of Bank C customers, the bank scored low in the Reliability factor. At the same time, Bank B had the lowest scores in Brand Loyalty and Brand Awareness factors. This indicates that the strengths of both banks lie in these factors. Subsequently, Bank A, Bank E, and Bank D followed in sequential order.","PeriodicalId":473245,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Management Studies and Development","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136338293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research examines the existing literature on engineering procurement practices, identifies gaps in knowledge, and explores potential areas for improvement. Through a comprehensive review, key findings emerge, highlighting limited research specific to engineering procurement in Nigeria and a lack of empirical studies on project performance and outcomes. Moreover, the literature review reveals a need for more research on engineering procurement projects' socio-economic and environmental impacts. The implications of these findings underscore the need for targeted research, enhanced data collection, and monitoring mechanisms to evaluate project performance accurately. Additionally, the study emphasises the importance of considering the broader socio-economic and environmental implications for sustainable development. Overall, this study serves as a foundation for advancing the understanding of engineering procurement in Nigeria and offers insights for policy-makers, researchers, and practitioners in the field.","PeriodicalId":473245,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Management Studies and Development","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136338295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It seeks to determine the profile of the respondents, the level of job satisfaction of academic employees, problems encountered and the significant relationship between the level of job satisfaction of the respondents when grouped according to profile and the recommendations proposed to enhance the level of satisfaction of academic employees. The researchers made use of the descriptive method as the primary gathering tool in the study using percentage technique, rank ordering method and weighted mean formula to compute the profile of the respondents, level of job satisfaction, problems encountered, the significant relationship between the level of job satisfaction of the respondents when grouped according to shape and proposed recommendations. There are 41 regular and contractual service academic employees, and out of 41 respondents, 30 answered the survey questionnaire. Based on the respondent’s profile, the findings are that most respondents are twenty-one to thirty years old, the majority are female, and the majority are instructors. The results showed that academic employees' job satisfaction levels are very satisfied. On the problems encountered by academic employees, the Nature of the job is a slightly severe problem. The significant relationship between the level of job satisfaction, the nature of the job, the work environment and the professional growth of the respondents, when grouped according to profile, has no significant relationship between the levels of job satisfaction. The story of job satisfaction in terms of salaries/benefits by the respondents, when grouped according to profile, position title, and salary grade, has a significant relationship. Regarding job security, the highest educational attainment in salary grade has a meaningful relationship.","PeriodicalId":473245,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Management Studies and Development","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136338294","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
