However, the conventional approaches were mainly based on the farfield measurement at some selected points on the spherical surface. A huge amount of data was presented in every spherical coordinate's angular direction. To overcome the problem, a method based on the equivalent source method(ESM) is proposed to record and exchange information on the spatial radiation characteristics from a sound source. By utilizing the principle of acoustical holography, complicated radiation patterns and strengths of an actual source can be approximately described by expanding the spherical harmonics in various orders. Such a method enables preserving the radiation pattern information of sound sources keeping only details on the position coordinate of equivalent sources and the coefficient of each order of spherical harmonics, which can be regarded as a standard format. If the proposed approach is used, a more precise and large amount of information can be stored with a smaller size of data than the conventional dataset.","PeriodicalId":471330,"journal":{"name":"NOISE-CON ... proceedings","volume":"31 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135728290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Problems of this kind can be addressed using optimization techniques. This paper utilizes a hybrid form of the well-known Particle Swarm Algorithm (hPSO) to produce a mathematical model representative of the dynamic behaviour of a generic structure subjected to a base excitation, directly from acceleration measurements. The proposed algorithm is specifically tailored for this application; physical properties of the matrices are assured introducing a 'healing' process. Problem-specific operators from Evolutionary Strategies are used to improve the solution and avoid a local minimum. The final adjustment of the solution is delegated to a local optimization algorithm.","PeriodicalId":471330,"journal":{"name":"NOISE-CON ... proceedings","volume":"33 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135725641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in some cases, the relationship between sound waves and temperature cannot be ignored. For example, a temperature gradient in an acoustic tube can generate self-excited vibrations of the air. A temperature gradient can also be generated by the input of sound waves. Engines and refrigerators that apply these phenomena can use exhaust heat as a drive source, so that they are expected as thermoacoustic devices with little adverse effect on the environment. Thermoacoustic devices have been actively studied in recent years, and efficient analytical methods including non-linearity of sound waves are still required. In this study, we propose an analysis method of thermoacoustic phenomena using a concentrated mass model. This model consisted of masses, springs, and dampers, and efficiently analyses thermoacoustic phenomena as a vibration system. In addition, this model is suitable for non-linear analysis and coupled analysis with other vibrating bodies. In this paper, we formulated an acoustic tube with a temperature gradient using the proposed model and verified the validity of the model by numerical calculations.","PeriodicalId":471330,"journal":{"name":"NOISE-CON ... proceedings","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135725649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The CFD simulations are performed using Ansys Fluent with LES Dynamic Model, and compressible flow fields have been solved. The attack angles of the airfoil are 5.5 and 9.5 degree. When the BEM calculation for the acoustic propagation was performed, the FMM (Fast Multipole Method) and FMBEM were used to calculate quickly the contributions from the quadrupole sources and acoustic propagation, reflection and diffraction on the boundaries, those are the walls of the 30P30N airfoil. The results of the acoustic simulations show a relatively good agreement with the experimental data and other researchers' simulation results. The directivities of the acoustic pressure for the primary peak frequency are shown and they depend on the attack angle of the airfoil. The far-field SPL also depends on the attack angle of the airfoil and decreases as the attack angle increases. We have also investigated the quadrupole sources in frequency domain, and the results showed that the quadrupole sources at far-field SPL peak frequencies near the wake of slat and the suction side of the main element of the airfoil are stronger than those in other regions.","PeriodicalId":471330,"journal":{"name":"NOISE-CON ... proceedings","volume":"35 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135725925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different methodologies exist for the identification and localisation of leaks in water distribution networks, which can be applied simultaneously at a different scale, to improve success rate. Acoustic correlation has been employed for many years to localise such leakages, based on the post-processing of vibroacoustic signals acquired by two sensors placed on both sides of the pipe where the leakage is supposed to be located. The practical application of this methodology still presents some significant issues. The implementation of the noise correlation methodology was investigated through an experimental test rig by simulating leakages in different conditions of pressure and flow and investigating the effects of background noise. Hydrophonic measurements and recordings were performed, identifying the frequency range affected by the leak noise, and the signal to assess the accuracy of the noise correlation method. A pre-filtering of the signals to reduce the effect of background noise masking was also investigated. The accuracy of acoustic correlation in localising the leakage was assessed by computing the propagation velocity, which depends on the vibroacoustic fluid-structure interaction, through approximated analytical equations","PeriodicalId":471330,"journal":{"name":"NOISE-CON ... proceedings","volume":"34 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135726951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When operating such systems, bearing faults frequently occur, causing system malfunctions. In order to prevent them, continuous system diagnosis with early warning should be required. To realize this, the analysis of fault signals should be performed to understand the features of fault states. However, experimental data with faults is limited. Therefore, the analysis should be performed along with appropriate numerical modeling to compensate for the limitations. Thus, in this research, bearing-shaft modeling with an outer fault is proposed in order to perform signal analyses for the bearing fault states. The overall shaft system is modeled based on the transfer matrix method (TMM), and the bearing is modeled using the lumped parameter method with outer fault modeling. With the proposed method, it has been shown that it is possible to analyze a situation where a bearing has failed.","PeriodicalId":471330,"journal":{"name":"NOISE-CON ... proceedings","volume":"32 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135728278","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Identification of in-duct sources using the conventional beamforming method would lead to poor spatial resolution and even fail at some specific frequencies with multiple virtual sources. Employing the inverse method would improve the accuracy of inner duct source localization, however, severe deviation of source intensity results calculated by the inverse method from actual results would occur due to tremendous dimensions of inversion and regulation process of the transfer function matrix. To reduce the dimensions of inversion and further improve the accuracy of source identification, a combined imaging methodology is proposed. The beamforming method is firstly applied to locate regions containing sound sources preliminarily, then an inverse method is applied to regions contributed by beamforming to remove ghosts and side lobes. Numerical simulations are implemented to validate the method. Azimuthal and radial localization results indicate that the combined imaging method is with better spatial resolution than beamforming or inverse methods. Reconstructed results of the source's volumetric velocity demonstrate that the proposed method has a lower deviation of source intensity than the inverse method.","PeriodicalId":471330,"journal":{"name":"NOISE-CON ... proceedings","volume":"36 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135725914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, steel-timber hybrid building elements are gaining more attention since they offer sufficient load-carrying properties. However, such lightweight structures increase vibration levels and sound transmission. Accurate understanding of the structures is therefore indispensable. Consequently, herein, a novel steel-timber composite building element is studied concerning its vibrational behavior numerically and experimentally. Especially the influence of the joints between steel and timber components is investigated by considering nonlinear behavior due to frictional effects. Therefore, amplitude-dependency regarding eigenfrequencies and damping properties as well as multi-harmonic responses are studied. Hence, nonlinearities are revealed by slight amplitude-dependency and the occurrence of higher harmonics.","PeriodicalId":471330,"journal":{"name":"NOISE-CON ... proceedings","volume":"35 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135726942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Active noise control is expected to be an effective method against low-frequency noise. Minimizing the total acoustic power emitted by a sound source causes a zero-control power phenomenon. In the zero control power phenomenon, the absorption and blowout of sound energy around the control sound source (CSS) are balanced, and the time average of the control power becomes zero. Therefore, control power suppression may be able to minimize total acoustic power. Previous studies have assumed that the sound source is a monopole sound source or a piston embedded in an infinite baffle. In this research, the sound sources are regarded as dipole sound source. In addition, numerical calculations are performed based on the derived control law to clarify the effect of the position and the rotation angle of the dipole on the acoustic power.","PeriodicalId":471330,"journal":{"name":"NOISE-CON ... proceedings","volume":"34 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135726953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
