Taking a cue from the Marxian theory, the relationship between the avowed agitating stance of the people of the Niger Delta and the perceived economic sabotage by the ruling class that militate against regional development was examined. Sitting on the Gulf of Guinea is the sprawling coastline of the Niger Delta region, spanning 70,000 km2 and gulping a total of 7.5% of Nigeria’s land mass. Lodged within its terrain is a huge deposit of natural resources. Containing over 20 billion barrels of oil reserves and a staggering worth of over 3 trillion cubic meters of gas deposits, the Niger Delta region contributes about 95% of its reserves to Nigeria’s foreign exchange index. Yet, the Region is disparaged and lacking in development. This has forged a cohesive bond between the growing rate of militancy and insecurity in the terrain, prompting a continuous struggle for regional control and discontinued resource racketeering. Utilizing secondary data and content analysis as a method of data collection and analysis as well as Frustration and Aggression theory, the paper observed that the 13% derivation fund allocated to the oil-producing states has not bridged the overwhelming gap between the impoverished region and the resources exploited from the terrain,. The paper recommends amongst others that The Government should review policies that are not in tandem with the dynamics of the region and set up structures that will provide the required economic dividends due to the region.","PeriodicalId":470768,"journal":{"name":"International journal of political science and governance","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135807010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Global actors are reviving up their foreign policy to meet these challenges and take full advantage of the possibilities that present themselves. In this age of globalisation, India is also strengthening its relations with other countries and multilateral regional organisations like the EU, BRICs, African Union, and ASEAN, among others. The MGC, BIMSTEC, and the Association for the Rim of the Indian Ocean are other regional organisations where India has assumed a leadership position. A fundamental concern associated with these platforms is how our country manages and regulates its link with other significant power centres in this globalised era. Therefore, we are offering a very systematic strategy in this era of global multilateral cooperation.","PeriodicalId":470768,"journal":{"name":"International journal of political science and governance","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135857124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It examined the factors, and challenges that influence recruitment in the study area. The study used quantitative and qualitative data. Purposively sampled service providers recruited and clusters of the public, who are recipients of the services, were administered questionnaire. It also used semi-structured interviews with key informants involved in the recruitment exercise. The study revealed that there are policy instruments for civil service recruitment in Osun State, and are not biased. Availability of vacancies and decision of the government are key factors that influenced Osun State’s recruitment drive while political interference and unemployment are key challenges facing recruitment process in Osun State’s civil service.
