However, digital technologies are shifting the basis of value offering in GVC from products and services to platforms. Considering that theseplatformsfacilitatebusiness exchanges in multi-actor networks,the partner or supplier firms of MNEs can easily become competitors to MNEs if these firms participate in different networks. Nevertheless, relatively little research addresses how MNEs can develop structural flexibility for competitive association with and differentiation from their partner firms while developing effective strategies to optimize value creation and capture from their relationship with these partner firms. This study develops a conceptual framework to explain how value co-creation on technology-enabled platforms facilitates structural flexibility and strategic management of firm relationships and activities in GVC. The framework has significant implications for responsive business models and enhanced positions for firms to participate and influence value creation and appropriation in GVC.","PeriodicalId":46986,"journal":{"name":"Strategic Change-Briefings in Entrepreneurial Finance","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.8,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46388347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article reviews the literature to identify four critical periods in this evolutionary cycle, from 1980 to 2020, to explicate the dimensions through which DT has foregrounded the burgeoning patterns of change in practice. Focusing on three key levels of micro-practices: farm level, production level, and institutional level, a nuanced analysis of the role of relevant stake-holders in mobilizing resources and provides support to leverage DT. Our study shows how stakeholders' receptiveness has facilitated the radical (re)construction of micro-practices in CVC. Implications for theory and practice are outlined.","PeriodicalId":46986,"journal":{"name":"Strategic Change-Briefings in Entrepreneurial Finance","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.8,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44277835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
