Variability, combined with the processes of internationalization of a number of phenomena and requirements resulting from the Industrial Revolution 4.0, directly forces the need for continuous improvement of competences by the company's staff. On the other hand, managers should rationally use their intellectual potential in order to strengthen their position on the market and dominate the competition. It is essential to take actions aimed at encouraging employees to invest in themselves. Then there will be a mutual benefit: for a specific person and company for which he works. Creating a climate for acquiring knowledge will make an organization a learning and successful business organization. In such a company, intellectual capital management will become a process where any employee will be treated subjectively, and will be a co-creator of the success of his/her organization.","PeriodicalId":45963,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Shipping and Transport Logistics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.5,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82511993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various aspects of this field have been studied, and most of them have tried to reduce the total risk, travel time and costs. In this study, we assume stops in the intermediate nodes are allowed because stops en route as a short break may reduce the risk of the trip. The proposed model mainly selects the best facility to assign to customer, finds the optimal route to serve the customers, and determines schedule for arrival and departure time from nodes. Given that the proposed model is NP-hard, a NSGA-II is used to solve it. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the algorithm, a real case of fossil fuels distribution in IRAN is implemented. The computational results show that the proposed algorithm is an efficient algorithm to achieve near-optimal solutions for the medium and large-scale problems.","PeriodicalId":45963,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Shipping and Transport Logistics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136008730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Understanding how and why ships are called at ports is remarkable for researchers, port-operators, and regional decision-makers. In this paper, a comparative model was proposed for the analysis of factors affecting cruise port ranking by ship arrivals. To apply the model, nine ports in the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts of Turkey were analysed with geographic, physical, and operational factors. Methods such as ranking, correlation, and hierarchical clustering were used. A strong correlation was found between the average ranking by eight-factors and the ranking by ship arrivals (ρ = 0.84, p-value < 0.05). Empirical results showed competitive ports, created a cluster (Kusadasi, Izmir, Bodrum) have longer berthing length, shorter sea-distance, and less artificialisation. Application of the model provided statistically reliable and empirically efficient results that guide researchers and practitioners.","PeriodicalId":45963,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Shipping and Transport Logistics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135605066","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
