The aim of this research was to provide the latest literature on the causes of conflict within an organization and its impact on the organization as a whole. The researcher found that although the university established an ombudsman position to mediate ongoing conflict, it still lacked a much needed conflict management system that is supported by top leadership. The study used the Social Cognitive Career Theory to support the theoretical framework of the investigation. Data gathered from 87 employees of an oil and gas corporation in the area of Kuala Lumpur were used in the analysis. The results show that the levels of the four cultural values experienced by the respondents are high while for the career goal is moderate. The regression results reveal that the predictor variables explain 28.0% of the variance in the career goal of the employees. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The sample of this study comprised of 330 male and female students. A validated self structured questionnaire was used for data collection. It has a reliability of 0.78. Chi-square (X2) was used to test all the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that parents mostly influence students to self-care, the availability of drugs influence students to selfcare and greater proportion of students who mostly used analgesics (drug) arbitrarily for self-care were not aware of the danger of side effects of these drugs. It was therefore recommended that drug education must start in the students’ early life. School-based health education can start even in primary schools and be implemented through the joint responsibility of both the parents, teachers, schools, the community and the government. Self-care involves the use of medicinal products by the consumer to treat self recognized disorder, symptoms, recurrent diseases or minor health problems. Along these lines, Johnfry (1987), Kirstin (2001) and Fareo (2012) separately specified four distinct roles for self-care: health maintenance and disease prevention, self-diagnosis; self-medicination and self-treatment, and patient participation in professional care (use of services). Self-care is broadly included in the concept of health behaviour; which Kasl and Cohb (1966), Phalke and Durgawale (2006) defined as activities carried out by those who consider themselves to be healthy in order to prevent disease or detect it in a symptomatic stage. Self-care is a human behaviour in which an individual uses a substance or any exogenous influences to self administers treatment for often unmanaged, undiagnosed physical or psychological ailments (Kirstin, 2001). Mechanic (1978), Phalke, Phalke and Durgawale (2006) both agreed that illness is a condition which causes or might cause an individual to concern himself with his symptoms and to seek help. It is therefore a deviation from a defined normal state or a disruption of a balanced state. Self – treatment is subsumed within the concept of illness behaviour, which includes the actions that people take to define their symptoms and seek help (Kasl and Cobb, 1966, Donatelle, 2009; and Petal, 2012). {"title":"Small and medium sized enterprises (SMES) accessibility to public procurement: SMES entity perspective in Ghana","authors":"J. Descriptive and exploratory designs were used. Convenience sampling technique was applied to select 91 respondents. The findings of the study revealed that on the competitiveness of SMEs in Ghanaian economy with access to public contract, SMEs have the ability to be flexible in their operations and their adaptability to changes either accidental or unexpected. It was also revealed that SMEs serve as a force for economic diversification and can act as the main engines for growth and development. The study also revealed that SMEs have the advantages in the form of innovation, employment, spatial benefits and the potential for decentralized supply opportunities. On issue of preferential treatments accorded SMEs in Ghana based on the Public Procurement Act 663, the study revealed that procurement officers/entities are not required to give SMEs concerns an equitable opportunity to compete for contracts and it does not provide any specific laws or articles relating to SMEs. The margins of preference found in the Public Procurement Act 663 is designed to give preference to local suppliers and contractors (irrespective of the nationality of the proprietor) competing with foreign suppliers and contractors not specifically for SMEs in Ghana. It was clear that there are no small business set-aside programs provided for SMEs in the Public Procurement Act 663 and its does not have any exemption from bid and performance security. Karim, Bakti Hasan Basri","doi":"10.21859/EULAWREV-08023","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21859/EULAWREV-08023","url":null,"abstract":"This paper seeks to examine the impact of flood disaster on GDP growth in Malaysia for the period of 1960 to 2013 by applying the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) bounds testing approach to cointegration and the error correction model (ECM) for short run relationship.ADF, PP and KPSS unit root test examines the stationarity of the series.
