Dynamic fault behavior of these DGS results in changes like the radial distribution systems. Thus, conventional protection schemes fail to discriminate the in-zone and out-zone faults. Hence, this manuscript describes a new protection scheme based on current variation at the relay location used to discriminate the internal and external faults. This technique requires phasor information of the current signals of both ends and adjacent lines using micro phasor measurement units (µPMUs). Using the current phasor information two components named internal and external are computed at the relay location which is called differential amplitude variation index (DAVI), used to identify the internal and external faults. A modified two-feeder radial distribution network and modified IEEE-13 bus test systems are modeled using EMTDC/PSCAD to validate the proposed strategy. Numerous disturbance cases have been simulated and the feasibility and applicability attributes of the suggested method are verified from the results.","PeriodicalId":45651,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140370885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, the multi-scale Retinex algorithm is used to enhance and preprocess the transmission line tower image to improve the image quality. Secondly, the method of frame difference and background difference is combined to detect and identify the inclined tower. Finally, the point cloud data of inclined tower is obtained by using three-dimensional laser scanning technology, and the inclination of transmission line tower is calculated by coordinates. The experimental results show that this method has high accuracy and reliability, with an error of less than 0.15 × 10−5 and an inclination of less than 0.17°. It is proved that this method can improve the monitoring efficiency of transmission lines, has good effects in engineering practice, and can provide effective means for the safe operation of transmission line structures.","PeriodicalId":45651,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140210088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, before widescale adoption, a thorough cost-benefit analysis is essential for making an apt decision towards transitioning to ETs. Utilizing data of 13 ETs, a total cost of ownership (TCO) model has been developed that outlines the economic benefits of ETs by evaluating the impact of factors like energy consumption, charging strategy, annual driven distances, route optimization, etc. With acquisition costs of ETs constituting 50–55 % of TCO the study outlines that ETs have significantly lower energy costs of 6–12 % (50–58 % for IC-engine trucks) and maintenance costs of 6–8% (13–18 % for IC-engine trucks), thereby reducing the overall TCO. Subsequently, a fleet-level analysis of ET adoption in a food supply chain comprising of four heavy-duty trucks and 16 medium-duty trucks has been performed with emphasis on assessment of supply chain-specific parameters like battery-mass penalty, level of utilization, etc. Overall, this study provides insight for fleet managers, policymakers and industry leaders to promote sustainable through an extended use of ET in the present scenario for the food supply chain.","PeriodicalId":45651,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140219093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to promote the development of the electric vehicle (EV) industry, the country has also begun to introduce various policies to encourage the development of the EV industry. In this context, many local governments have begun to introduce policies and measures related to the development of the EV industry, such as increasing land use for the development of the EV industry and increasing support for the new energy automobile industry. These policy measures have played a positive role in promoting the development of the EV industry, but there are also some problems. For example, when many local governments introduce policies to support the development of the new energy automobile industry, their support for the EV industry is not significant. This article studied the collaborative optimization of the EV industry chain in response to issues such as insufficient technical strength, imbalanced supply-demand relationship, and insufficient downstream service chain capabilities in the EV industry chain. This article analyzed the composition of the EV industry chain and established an EV industry chain model to address these issues. This article used collaborative optimization algorithms to analyze the production volume of EVs in the EV industry chain, as well as the comprehensive efficiency, pure technical efficiency, and scale efficiency values of upstream, midstream, and downstream. Through experimental analysis, it was found that the comprehensive efficiency value of the upstream of the EV industry chain after using the collaborative optimization algorithm was 0.0792 higher than before. The research results of this article have provided reference significance for the analysis of collaborative optimization algorithms in other fields.","PeriodicalId":45651,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140242024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Distributed power sources have played a crucial role in the power system, and aggregators have integrated a large number of distributed power sources with diverse characteristics, shielding the complex characteristics of the underlying distributed power sources from grid scheduling. This article introduces the revenue optimization of low-carbon integration to optimize the aggregator’s scheduling model, designs distributed renewable energy generation units, and studies the solution strategy based on quantum genetic algorithms for large-scale optimization scheduling problems. The aggregator’s optimization variables divide the entire optimization problem and consider low-carbon integration to achieve distributed management of green energy parks, providing a feasible theoretical framework for the further development of distributed power sources. It has important practical significance in energy conservation, emissions reduction, and ecological environmental protection.","PeriodicalId":45651,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140261104","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mathematical problem formulation for pool-based market clearing consists of maximization of social welfare objective function, which incorporates maximization of demand benefit obtained from flexible demand bids and minimization of Electricity Producers’ real and reactive power costs obtained from actual and strategic supply bids. In this problem formulation, the nonlinear modeling of power system is used for real and reactive power flow equality constraints, transmission line capability inequality constraints (for incorporating the impact of transmission congestion), and generator capability curve equality constraints. The impacts of demand side management have been incorporated in the problem by considering single-period and multi-period demand flexibilities, and distributed generation placement at appropriate locations. The formulated optimization problem has been solved using nonlinear programming, which provides the nodal prices as byproducts of the solution. The electricity producers’ capability to exercise market power has been analyzed from their revenue and surplus indices, which have been obtained from nodal prices. Various case studies have been simulated on IEEE 30-bus system for quantitative determination of electricity producers’ market power. The results obtained are very interesting and demonstrate demand side strategies to tackle the electricity producers’ market power with actual and strategic bidding under normal and congested system conditions.","PeriodicalId":45651,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139811473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This leads to increased complexity in system design and coordination control, which needs to take into account the interactions and coordination between individual components. Considering the demand response, the power coordination control method of AC/DC hybrid microgrid is studied, which can effectively adjust the power of microgrid in different operation modes and ensure its smooth operation. Combined with the topology of AC/DC hybrid microgrid and its bidirectional converter, the constraints such as AC-side load demand response and AC/DC-side power balance are set on the premise of considering demand response. Under such constraints, the microgrid is divided into two modes: sub-network independent operation and inter-network power exchange. Corresponding control sections are designed for the two modes. On the premise of the set constraints, the microgrid power in each mode is coordinated by coordinating the control methods of the converters. The results show that this method can respond to several mode switches of AC/DC hybrid microgrid in time and effectively coordinate and control the power during the switching process under the constraint conditions such as load demand response. In addition, in the single mode of inter-network power exchange, this method can also quickly respond to the load demand, effectively adjust the exchange power between AC and DC subnets of microgrid, realize the reasonable distribution of power, and make the hybrid microgrid run stably in different modes.
