Firstly, the existence of the inverse system is approved by inverse system theory. However, the analytic inverse model is hardly applied in the engineering fields because it is excessively depends on the IM parameters. Therefore, the method of synthesising neuro-network and analytic function is suggested in this paper, and an ANN-based inverse decoupling control scheme is constructed in order to eliminate the coupling between stator flux and torque. To accelerate the convergence speed of neuro-network and enhance its generalisation ability, the non-linear operations are realised by the analytic operation method and the corresponding results act as the inputs of network. In addition, simulation results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":45089,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Automation and Control","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2010-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1504/IJAAC.2010.030808","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66763332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to emotional and psychological stress, an operator may not be able to adequately respond to critical conditions and make correct decisions. Mistakes can damage very expensive power system equipment or worse lead to major emergencies and catastrophic situations. Intelligent systems can play an advisory role suggesting the necessary actions, which should be taken to deal with a given emergency or abnormal condition as well as identifying failures of protection systems and circuit breakers. This paper outlines some experience obtained at the School of Engineering of the University of Tasmania in developing intelligent systems for power systems security. An expert system for clearing overloads applies the network sensitivity factors to determine appropriate actions, which include generation rescheduling, network reconfiguration and load shedding. An expert system for voltage control is developed and used for detecting voltage violations and providing a set of effective control actions to solve voltage problems in real-time. An artificial neural network is used to identify multiple failures of protection relays and circuit breakers. This system uses information received from protection systems in the form of alarms and is able to deal with incomplete and distorted data.","PeriodicalId":45089,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Automation and Control","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2008-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86320168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The controller proposed in this paper is tuned automatically with various tuning formulas based on the results of frequency domain system identification for the plant. The controller first estimates the frequency response of the plant using FFT. The controller gains are automatically tuned so as to minimise the error between the open loop frequency response of the reference model and that of the actual system at a few frequency points. For the three example processes, reference models are derived. The frequency responses of the reference models and that of the actual processes are obtained. The controller gains are determined by applying the least squares algorithm. The responses of the plants are verified in time domain and frequency domain after tuning the I-PD controller.","PeriodicalId":45089,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Automation and Control","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2007-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1504/IJAAC.2007.015844","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66763261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here action selection or decision-making procedure incorporating α-level fuzzy logic is discussed and used for selecting an appropriate action during mobile robot navigation. In the present approach, the operational strategies of the human expert driver are transferred via fuzzy logic to the robot navigation in the form of optimising behaviour rules without decreasing the input space and resolved the conflicts similar to human thinking. This paper presents the mathematical aspects of resolving conflicts when more than one context rule of the same kind is in action. Simulation results are presented based on the real life situation.
