This reputation is attributed to the success of Jepara's carved furniture products in entering the international and global markets. In addition to woodcarving crafts, Jepara also produces various other crafts. The types of crafts in Jepara are diverse, including pottery, calligraphy, furniture, metalwork, sculptures, rattan weaving, batik, and woven textiles. These various crafts are concentrated in different areas within Jepara Regency. However, in its development, the number of craft practitioners in Jepara has decreased due to the development of several industrial areas in the regency, leading people to prefer working as factory employees rather than craftsmen. Therefore, efforts need to be made to preserve the crafts in Jepara as cultural heritage and potential for improving the community's economy in the creative industry sector. In this regard, the proposed solution is to establish an Exhibition, Marketplace, and Handicraft Development Building to preserve the crafts in Jepara as cultural heritage and economic potential in the creative industry sector. \u0000The Exhibition, Marketplace, and Handicraft Development Building can serve as educational facilities \u0000and economic activities related to crafts in Jepara Regency","PeriodicalId":448826,"journal":{"name":"Canopy: Journal of Architecture","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132239502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the indication of National Economic Survey Data (SUSENAS), by the year 2018, 3 of 10 children with disability never really attend formal study at school. Until 2019, the number of children with disability that never attended school reach 400,000 children. One of the causes of many children with disability never attending school is that they are indicated as the 40% poorest families in Indonesia. Other than financial problems, the lack of learning facilities like special needs schools is also becoming the cause of many children with disability never really attending school life. The number of special needs schools in 2019 is only 1.861 in Indonesia. That is inversely proportional to the number of children with disability that reach the number 500,000 children by the year 2019. Special needs school is a learning facility for children with certain disabilities. Special needs school is made as a place for children with disabilities to study and improve their certain interests and talent just like normal children did. The building of special needs school is expected to be a place that can be used by the user without exception. The application of a universal design concept is suitable for special needs school buildings. Other than that, the application of green architecture is also needed to create a good environment.","PeriodicalId":448826,"journal":{"name":"Canopy: Journal of Architecture","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115231152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Indonesia itself, there is a premier national competition known as the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL), which is participated in by numerous major cities, including Salatiga. Salatiga possesses great potential for the development of basketball in Indonesia. The city's numerous championship victories and individual accolades bestowed upon Salatiga basketball athletes highlight its significant contribution to the advancement of basketball in the country. However, in order to further support and nurture these achievements and potentials, it is essential to provide adequate facilities capable of accommodating the needs of athletes, aspiring athletes, and basketball enthusiasts throughout Indonesia, particularly in Salatiga. Establishing an internationally standardized facility with a focus on education and training would serve as a medium to prepare future athletes. The primary objective of this design report is to outline the plans for the Salatiga Basketball Education and Development Center, utilizing a Sustainable Architecture approach, which would effectively cater to the requirements of athletes and aspiring athletes in enhancing their knowledge and basketball skills. Additionally, this planning aims to fulfill the building's function as a competitive venue for national athletes participating in events held in Salatiga. The design of the basketball education and development center entails various processes, including problem identification, data collection, site identification, site selection, site analysis, and the implementation of the sustainable architecture approach.","PeriodicalId":448826,"journal":{"name":"Canopy: Journal of Architecture","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121529509","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a Javanese city, Semarang has its traditions, culture, and unique Javanese art with its charm. The Javanese art in Semarang is greatly influenced by hybrid culture factors, where the art has undergone many cultural acculturations throughout the city's history. Unfortunately, many of these arts are not well spotlighted due to a lack of activities to showcase them (events) and the limited spaces available to accommodate various Javanese art activities in Semarang. This has caused Javanese art in Semarang to experience a decline to the point where it is difficult to find information about these arts and a decrease in the art community itself. Additionally, globalization has affected the environment in which these arts develop. Generational differences and environmental changes have led to different behaviors in responding to Javanese art as a traditional art form in Semarang. Given this background, planning, and designing the Semarang Center for Javanese Art Building in Semarang is needed to accommodate Javanese art activities and provide information related to these arts. The approach that will be applied in the planning and design of the Semarang Center for Javanese Art Building is a behavioral architecture approach. This approach will study the behavioral patterns of the community in the context of Javanese art, both as artists and art enthusiasts, with a contemporary orientation. Therefore, the design output will be able to meet the current perception of the community.","PeriodicalId":448826,"journal":{"name":"Canopy: Journal of Architecture","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130325081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Indonesia is the second-ranked country with the highest total cases of mental disorders in Southeast Asia, which reached 9,162,886 (Estimates Global Health, 2017). According to Asia's Least and Most Stressful Cities (2017), the city of Jakarta is ranked 6th as the most stressful city in Indonesia. This mental health problem is triggered by a fast-paced lifestyle which makes it difficult for the people of Jakarta to adapt to one another so that people feel stressed or depressed. Unfortunately, society's paradigm of mental health disorders creates a stigma that can hinder the healing and recovery of sufferers. From a psychological point of view, environmental factors play an important role in the healing process for people with mental disorders. This is commonly referred to as a healing environment which is carried out by managing the relationship between nature, humans, and buildings that can support healing. The purpose of writing this design report is to plan a Mental Rehabilitation and Healing Center with a Biophilic Architecture approach in the City of Jakarta which is capable of providing therapy for sufferers of mental disorders with details including (1) planning and designing a Mental Rehabilitation and Healing Center that can accommodate therapy activities and healing with the Healing Environment method; (2) planning and designing a Mental Rehabilitation and Healing Center with a Biophilic Architecture Approach in the City of Jakarta. The method of discussion in this report uses descriptive methods, with factual data collection through literature studies, observational studies, analysis, and conclusions. \u0000Key Word: Mental Rehabilitation Center in West Jakarta City, Biophilic Architecture.","PeriodicalId":448826,"journal":{"name":"Canopy: Journal of Architecture","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124917442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Provision of pedestrian paths and ramps must be accessible, effective, and keep activities in urban spaces running well. One of the pedestrian and ramp lanes in Jl. Imam Bonjol corridor Semarang is interesting to study in which the existence of pedestrian paths and ramps can be said is still limited to providing public facilities without regard to quality, continuity of function of facilities and respect for users, both pedestrians and people with disabilities. However, the condition of the pedestrian paths and ramps in Jl. Imam Bonjol corridor is good enough, but there are some significant things that can hinder the user's circulation. Several sections of pedestrian paths and ramps are used as parking lots for vehicles, rickshaws and cars. The guiding line for the blind is cut off in several places and sometimes even leads to an open exhaust channel. In some sections it turns out to be difficult for the disabled to use it. This fact is very unfortunate because pedestrians and people with disabilities have the same rights in the use of pedestrian paths and ramps. This study aims to provide design solutions to the problem of designing pedestrian paths and ramps on Imam Bonjol Semarang street corridor to connect urban activity centers so as to provide an ease and convenience access and improve the quality of urban space. A qualitative descriptive method is used in this research, namely by describing the problem to be studied in more depth in order to find solutions and develop the findings of previous studies.","PeriodicalId":448826,"journal":{"name":"Canopy: Journal of Architecture","volume":"210 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113983118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
