Aim: Assess the nurses’ knowledge and practices about peripherally inserted central catheter at neonatal intensive care units Method: Descriptive research was conducted on 45 neonatal nurses working at neonatal intensive care units affiliated to Mansoura University Children Hospital (MUCH). Peripherally inserted central catheter insertion questionnaire sheet and observational checklistwas used to collect data. Results:Most studied nurses had poor knowledge and the minority had average knowledge about PICC line care for neonates. Also, more than half of nurses had competent score regarding PICC line insertion and care.Conclusion: There was variation regrading neonatal nurses' knowledge and practices regarding PICC line insertion and care.Recommendation: A regular educational program about PICC line care should be consistent for neonatal nurse","PeriodicalId":447996,"journal":{"name":"Mansoura Nursing Journal","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131220222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Schizophrenic patients frequently complain of diminished social support which is acting as a critical factor in the prognosis of schizophrenia. Aim:This study aimed atassessin gsocial support among patients withschizo phrenia. Method: The study was carried out using a descriptivere search design on a convenience sample of 200 patients diagnosed with Schizophrenia disorder at the Inpatient and Out-patient Psychiatric Department of Mansoura University Hospital. Data were collected by socio-demographic and clinical characteristics sheet and Multidimensional scale of Perceived Social Support. Results: Results in this study revealed that majority of the studied subjects (89.5%) had low and moderate social support. There was a statistically significant positive correlation between social support and social relationship. Conclusion: Social support plays an important role in the prognosis and recovery of schizophrenia; so it is recommended to enhance social support while caring for patients with schizophrenia. Further studies are needed about the effective and vital role of social support.","PeriodicalId":447996,"journal":{"name":"Mansoura Nursing Journal","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123094274","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Phlebotomy blood loss is one ofthe etiologies and predictors of HAA in acute coronary syndrome patients. Aim of this Study: identify the correlation between Phlebotomy blood loss and HAA among acute coronary syndrome patients. Material and Method: Descriptive exploratory research design was used to performthe research on one hundred and eighty patients in Cardiac Care Units at Mahallah Cardiac Center. Patients' demographic, health-relevant laboratory investigations data, drug-related data, and estimation of blood loss volume toolswere utilized in the data collection process. Results: Around two-fifth (37.8%) of the studied patients have HAA.There was a statistically significant correlation between HAA and gender & length of hospital stay(X2: 5.229, P: 0.029&X2: 21.832, P:˂0.001 respectively). On the otherhand, there was no significant correlation between HAA and phlebotomy blood loss& patient’s age (X2: 1.307, P: 0.520& X2: 1.7763, P: 0.620114 respectively). Conclusion: Around two fifths (37.8%) of acute coronary syndrome patients had HAA compared to 62.2% who were non-anemic. There was a statistically significant correlation between HAA and gender & length of hospital stay. In contrast, there was no significant correlation between HAA and phlebotomy blood loss and patient’s age among acute coronary syndrome patients atMahallah Cardiac Center.Recommendations: Future HAA prevention efforts are recommended to be effective if they include multimodal interventions that both decrease unnecessary phlebotomy blood loss through puncturing and bleeding. Self-directed learning readiness is considered to be highly personalized as well differs significantly between learners in different programs found in higher education so definite abilities, attitudes as well personality characteristics are required for self-directed learning. Aim: This study aims to assess nursing students’ readiness and perspective toward self-directed learning. Research design: A descriptive research design was utilized. Methods: The study sample consisted of (300) nursing students from four levels choose by sample size at Faculty of Nursing, Mansoura University. Data were collected by using two tools as: Self-directed learning readiness scale and students' perception about self-directed learning questionnaire. Results: The study finding revealed that three quarter of nursing students were high readiness for selfdirected learning. As well, more than half of nursing students were high perception about self-directed learning. Conclusion: Nursing students’ readiness for self-directed learning was high in three quarter of them whereas perception about self-directed learning was high in more than half of them. Recommendation: Encourages policymakers in the college to make policy for self-directed learning in nursing curricula. Promote self-directed learning as a central strategy for developing competency of the nursing students in the clinical practice which emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving.","PeriodicalId":447996,"journal":{"name":"Mansoura Nursing Journal","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126898100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was aimed to identify the factors affecting the maternal-fetal attachment during pregnancy. Design: A descriptive design was used. Subjects: A purposive sample including 100 pregnant women were participated. Setting: Antenatal Clinics of Al-Azhar University Hospital in New Damietta City, Damietta Governorate, in Egypt. Tools: A structure Interview Questionnaire, Cranley’s Maternal-Fetal attachment Scale (CMFAS), Fetal position awareness scale (FPAS). Results: There was a positive and significant relationship between the mean of MFA in mothers with the history of fetal loss and presence of support provider and strong attachment to mother, on the other hand this study confirmed that a statistically significant negative correlation between MFA and pregnant woman's gravidity. Conclusion: Maternal fetal attachment is associated significantly and positively with multiple factors: previous fetal loss, presence of support provider, and strong attachment to mother. Education level and history of previous low birth weight baby come in the second level of significant in this study. Additionally, increased gravidity contributed to a decreased MFA level.
