This article explores the intricate interplay of biological, social, and psychological factors that shape the experiences of women with psychosis. Drawing from evidence-based practices in occupational therapy, it underscores the critical need for tailored interventions that address gender-specific influences on occupational functioning. By emphasizing the importance of early intervention and gender-responsive approaches, this article sheds light on the disparities that women with psychosis often encounter within the healthcare system. It highlights the significance of individualized treatment strategies in improving outcomes, promoting recovery, and enhancing the overall quality of life for this specific population.Keywords: Psychosiswomen’s healthmental healthgender disparitieshealth equity Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Additional informationFundingThe author(s) reported there is no funding associated with the work featured in this article.","PeriodicalId":44781,"journal":{"name":"Occupational Therapy in Mental Health","volume":"11 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135042488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PRISMA-ScR guidelines resulted in twenty-five articles. Findings suggest TSY/TIY can have positive impacts on client outcomes, such as improved self-regulation and awareness, increased self-care, and overall enhanced quality of life. There is limited research, however what is current, is a promising complimentary intervention in addressing mental health disorders. Higher level evidence is needed to support TSY/TIY in OT as an appropriate and cost-effective intervention.Keywords: Trauma-informed yogacomplementary alternative medicinepost-traumatic stress disordermental healthoccupational therapy Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Additional informationFundingThe author(s) reported there is no funding associated with the work featured in this article.","PeriodicalId":44781,"journal":{"name":"Occupational Therapy in Mental Health","volume":"72 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135220888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
