For the first time in the sturgeon-breeding history of Azerbaijan sex and maturity of various species grown in aquaculture condition was determined by the method of ultrasound examination. 67% (47 pieces) of examined fish (70 pieces) was Persian (Kura) sturgeon. Most of them 59.6% (♂-28 and ♀-19) were males. Among the analyzed Persian (Kura) sturgeon fish the species at II maturity stage (♂-16 and ♀-10) was dominant. In 2013 the reproductive females of the Persian (Kura) sturgeon reared “from eggs” in the fish cultural practices of Azerbaijan for the first time were used under the hatchery conditions. The aim of the present study is a comparative evaluation of the quality of reproductive females holding under the conditions of sturgeon hatcheries and obtaining their off spring. This research is also needed to develop scientifically substantiated documents on exploitation of sturgeon broodstocks on the basis of sturgeon hatcheries of Azerbaijan.","PeriodicalId":447148,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Ecology & Natural Resources","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114565765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The storm is characterized mainly by: Intensity, Duration and Frequency. Due to production of greenhouse gases, hydrologic cycle is changing day by day which is causing variations in terms of intensity, duration and frequency of rainfall events. By pinpointing the potential effects of climate change and adapting to them, is the one way to reduce regions susceptibility. Since rainfall characteristics are often used for planning and design of various water resources project, reviewing and bring up-to-date rainfall characteristics which is Intensity–Duration– Frequency (IDF) curves for future climate situations is important. The main objective of this study is to establish the empirical equations of rainfall intensity which can be used in the Upper Nyabarongo catchment (NNYU) for hydraulic structures design. It was found that intensity of rainfalls decreases with increase in rainfall duration. Further, a rainfall of any given duration will have a larger intensity if its return period is large. In other words, for a rainfall for a given duration, rainfalls of higher intensity in that duration are infrequent than rainfalls of smaller intensity.","PeriodicalId":447148,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Ecology & Natural Resources","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132932064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Interestingly, air transportation is an important feature of economic development. It represents one of the yardsticks for assessing development. Many studies show that airport infrastructure is positively linked to socio-economic growth and development specifically in terms of generating employment, creating wealth, generating income, stimulating tourism and improving standard of living. This study aimed to measure the contributions of the Obong Victor Attah International Airport to the social and economic life of host communities of Uruan, Okobo and Nsit-Atai. LGA’s in Akwa-Ibom State. Tourism is the major parameters used in measuring these contributions. Materials and Methods: A buffer was used to demarcate the study into zones and a systematic sampling technique was employed in selecting the households to be sampled. The sample size composed of 400 respondents and this was determined from the population of the host communities using the Taro Yamane formula. Data needed for this study was obtained from questionnaires administered to the 400 respondents. Secondary data was collected from Obong Victor Attah International Airport Development Company. Data collected were analysed using; percentages, charts, maps and simple linear regression statistical tools. The hypothesis formulated was tested using simple linear regression analysis, the null hypothesis which stated that airport does not significantly impact tourism. Results: Results from the analysis revealed that the airport has an influence on tourism which is due to the influx of visitors and the increased number of tourism related business majorly production of souvenirs and souvenir related Research Article Volume 3 Issue 1 Received Date: January 28, 2019 Published Date: April 02, 2019 DOI: 10.23880/jenr-16000158 Journal of Ecology & Natural Resources Ihuoma BA and Raimi MO. From this result it is here inferred that Obong Victor Attah International Airport is not the major determinant of tourism in the study area of the host communities. Conclusion: It was recommended that the Government should create more employment opportunities for the host communities to improve their socio-economic well-being. Also, there is need for widespread campaigns in order to raise awareness among the host community members about the importance of airport to tourism.","PeriodicalId":447148,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Ecology & Natural Resources","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128660528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
