Firstly, the mathematical model of mutual inductance calculation is established. Based on this model, the rates of changes of 9 kinds of coils windings’ mutual inductance are compared and the optimal design of the coils is selected by using the Maxwell (2D) simulation. Secondly, the topology of the wireless power transfer system is designed and simulated in the Matlab. Finally, an experimental platform is built and the results are compared with those of the theoretical calculation and simulation to verify that the proposed wireless power transfer system is feasible.","PeriodicalId":446770,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC)","volume":"281 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123429326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the losses of two DC/DC topologies, CLLC cascade interleaved Buck(two-stage) converter and dual-active-bridge(DAB) converter, are compared as the interface DC/DC converter for RSOFC. Firstly, the topology and control method is introduced for two selected DC/DC converters. Secondly, the losses of two converters are analyzed and corresponding loss models are presented. The loss models are also extended for multi-port topology. At last based on 1kW single port prototype, the experiments are conducted and the total loss are measured for two topologies. Both the model and experimental results indicate that the two-stage topology has higher efficiency and is selected for the interface DC/DC converter for RSOFC stack.","PeriodicalId":446770,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC)","volume":"123 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125259323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theory and existing shortcoming of the conventional PFC are first analyzed. A new energy management method realized by model predictive control (MPC) is proposed to maximize the benefit of the internal capacitor with a considerably reduced capacitance. A 500W PFC is used as a case study. It is found that the energy management method offers more effective control of the output voltage and input current with a much-reduced capacitance. Experimental results validate the proposed concept on a GaN FET based BoCBB PFC prototype.","PeriodicalId":446770,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125481091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presence of non-linear loads, power electronics and the increasing number of distributed energy resource (DER) units in electrical grids contribute to changing the characteristics of voltage and current waveforms in current power systems. This paper proposes an accurate and effective harmonic analysis method: Harmonic Balance Method (HBM) for power electronics and distributed energy system. The HBM can calculate all forms of harmonics generated from nonlinear load including power electronics and inductive load, and saturated or DC biased transformers; therefore it can provide accurate prediction of harmonic components for the harmonic control and active power filter (APF).","PeriodicalId":446770,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125527398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A variable-mode control strategy with three operating modes is adopted for the converter, and a novel optimal parameters design method based on this strategy is proposed. The designed converter can achieve a super-wide output voltage range at various load without increasing circuit’s complexity, expanding the operating frequency and phase-shifted range. The magnetizing inductance is maximized to decrease magnetizing and conduction losses on condition that the requirements of wide gain and primary MOSFETs’ soft-switching are met, so the converter can maintain a high efficiency within the entire output voltage range. Finally, a 2.5kW experimental prototype with output voltage ranging from 25V to 150V is set up, by which the effectiveness of the strategy and the design method are proved.","PeriodicalId":446770,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115031888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new rotor current reference value is deduced in this paper. By analyzing the relationship between power reference and rotor currents, the reference value of rotor currents can be easily calculated without phase-locked loop (PLL). One kind of predictive current control based on the mathematical model of DFIG is proposed to directly control rotor current without any tuning work. After obtaining the analytical differentiation of the rotor currents, the reference rotor voltage is then deduced and synthesized by space vector modulation (SVM). Different from the conventional deadbeat power control with SVM (DPCSVM), all the three phase rotor currents in this method are sinusoidal and balanced when DFIG runs at unbalanced network. All simulation results for a 1.5 kW DFIG are presented to show the availability of proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":446770,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115062524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By changing the phase of the drive signals, an additional switching state is introduced to minimize the average neutral current over a switching cycle and it can be proved that the additional switching state does not introduce additional harmonics to AC circuit by analysis the inductance voltage of the OCC-based VIENNA rectifier. Unlike SVPWM, all the calculations require only three-phase currents and capacitance voltages as parameters and it can be achieved in abc coordinate system, so that the proposed control strategy can be easily implemented by a digital controller without complex calculations. The feasibility and performance of the modified OCC strategy has been validated by simulations in MATLAB/Simulink and experimental results.","PeriodicalId":446770,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC)","volume":"148 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122440927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to analyze the small-signal stability of VSG, it is imperative to construct its analytical model. However, the impedance-based small-signal modeling issue of VSG is seldom discussed in existing works. To fill this gap, this paper conducts a full analytical model for the dq- frame small-signal output impedance of VSG, considering the dynamics of droop mechanism and virtual inertia. The small-signal model of power stage, external power control loop and internal voltage and current controllers are derived successively. Then, the accuracy of the analytical model is validated by measurement results in SABER. Based on the generalized Nyquist Criterion (CNC), the stability of VSG working in grid-connected mode is analyzed using this proposed impedance model. Finally, simulation results verify the analysis.","PeriodicalId":446770,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC)","volume":"212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122531669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Estimating or measuring the junction temperature of the power module is an emerging technology for thermal management control, condition monitoring, and lifetime estimation. This paper present a simply thermal model to estimate the junction temperature for SiC modules, which uses integrated negative thermal coefficient (NTC) thermistor. Firstly, a simplified thermal model is established to precisely express the thermal impedance between the chip and the integrated NTC. Then the junction temperature of the module is online estimated based on the obtained thermal model and NTC sensor reading. The effectiveness of the proposed thermal model is verified by simulation and experimental results.","PeriodicalId":446770,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123032312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
