As a response to the growing request for enhancement of service efficiency, companies implement Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to reduce costs of operations. However, the researchers failed to reach consensus on the effect of CI operations efficiency in non-manufacturing environment. Thus, the proposed study attempts to answer an important question of impact of CI on cost reduction in the services environment by applying Structural Equation Modeling to the 304 survey responses collected in the course of the study. Furthermore, the research investigates how organizational practices impact relationship between CI and cost reduction. The study suggests that CI itself is unable to reduce costs and requires a support of multiple organizational practices, such as Rewards and Recognition of Employees, Quality Culture, Employee Training and Goal setting, to obtain the benefits of cost reduction. Consequently, the research results allow for a conclusion with a vast practical implication that there is need to develop a comprehensive infrastructure of organizational practices to support CI in order to attain cost reduction. The research findings provide recommendations for CI implementation and investment prioritization in service organizations.","PeriodicalId":44603,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Management","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2019-04-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42781630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The discriminatory models are used to estimate the probability of researched hospitals bankruptcy. The financial distress is tested with two popular models, one foreign (the Altman Z’’Score Model) and one domestic (the Mączyńska Model). The authors also construct their own model, adapted to the specification of medical activity. The results indicate that the author’s model is much more suitable for the small and medium sized hospitals, as the rate of prediction is highest. It may indicate that in the health care sector, particularly in small and medium sized companies, different phenomena occur, which affect these companies’ financial distress. Despite this, this study indicates that the proposed model is one of the useful tools for their evaluation, especially when combined with other financial as well as non-financial tools. Finally, it was possible to verify the hypothesis that it is possible to create a discriminatory model dedicated to SMEs hospitals, which results are more accurate than using different, not adjusted to health care sector specifics, discriminatory models.","PeriodicalId":44603,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Management","volume":"102 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71064886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Without people, the organization is unable to meet its goals. A well-prepared HR strategy and an action plan for its implementation enables an organization to effectively plan and manage individual processes to support the organization's goals and to respond flexibly to any change. The paper deals with a sub-research of the management of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech Republic. It is focused on the use of HR strategy in SMEs management and the assessment of the significance of HR process. Data were gathered as questionnaires and interviews from 290 enterprises operating in the Czech Republic. The research was done in 2016. Unfortunately, the HR strategy is defined by 2/5 of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech Republic. The data used in this study is extracted from Google Trend data set, and hand-collected data from the Indonesia Capital Market Directory (ICMD). By employing panel data analysis, our results show that search engine query data (information retrieval) by using the internet (Google) is clearly an important method of attenuating the level of asymmetry information between the informed and UN-informed investors. Moreover, the utilization of microeconomic factors such as financial or non-financial information that can be easily obtained from the annual reports are strongly useful in helping investors preparing their portfolio of investment. Meanwhile, the macroeconomics factors such as inflation, interest rate, exchange rate, and GDP are the country-level effect which results in either positive or negative impact on returns and liquidity. By employing 83 samples and six years time period of observation, we infer that information retrieval through the search engine query data on the internet, macroeconomics factors and microeconomics factors are strongly and significantly related to returns and liquidity in the Indonesia stock exchange.","PeriodicalId":44603,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Management","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71064365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, their proportion among business leaders is still much lower than their proportion in the society. In the EU, policy-makers pay special attention to women’s businesses – especially in the SME sector. Doing business is by default a risky activity and failure or financial difficulty is almost a natural part of it. Learning from hard times and from the experiences of others may help entrepreneurs to create better strategies to survive. The aim of this paper is to highlight factors and reasons for financial distress, in order to provide ideas how to prevent these difficulties. The research conducts 329 entrepreneurs who suffered from financial distress previously in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Serbia via online survey. There are not any significant differences in perceiving financial difficulties regarding gender. However, there are slight differences among countries, mainly in entrepreneurial factors.","PeriodicalId":44603,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Management","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71065112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents the challenges in the introduction of AGV (Automatically Guided Vehicles) technology in production lines through two case studies from two different countries, Portugal and the Czech Republic. Both companies are from the automotive industry. Case study research aims to explore and understand complex phenomena. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the limitations and necessary conditions that must be considered when implementing AGV technology for automating selected logistic processes. Based on the data collected through multiple observations, a three-phase methodology considering technological, organizational and safety aspects is proposed as the main output. The basic scheme also includes the proposal of some critical success factors and key performance indicators that should be monitored in order to evaluate the efficiency of implementing this technology in future projects.","PeriodicalId":44603,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Management","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71065008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study of green consumer behavior is one of the vital present-day researches. The purpose of the present study is to explore the lifestyles of Indian consumers and their influence on the ecologically conscious behavior. For this purpose the researchers have employed the lifestyle scale along with the actual commitment subscale. The study results are based on researcher controlled student sample of 150 respondents. The data was analyzed using tools like SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0. The results suggest that аchievers and аdventuresome are significant predictors of the ecological conscious behavior.","PeriodicalId":44603,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Management","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71064231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current rate of resource consumption may deprive the future generation from the resources that we have been enjoying. The conservation of these resources for long requires judicious and rational consumption practices from consumers. Therefore, responsible consumption is need of hour to further prevent environmental degradation and resources depletion. This paper aims to explore the antecedents of responsible consumption. A theoretical model was developed to explain and empirically verify the antecedents of responsible consumption. Four antecedents namely environmental education, perception of fair trade, taxation and neuroticism have been taken as exogenous variables. The model was tested and statistically validated using structural equation modeling relying on data collected through 300 respondents. The environmental education has emerged as the most important antecedent of responsible consumption followed by taxation, perception of fair trade and neuroticism respectively. The finding of the study would contribute towards enhancing responsible and judicious use of resources, thereby, reducing consumption and improving environment.","PeriodicalId":44603,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Management","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71064329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research was a descriptive and correlational study. The statistical population of the research included all faculty members of these universities whose number was 765 at the time the research was conducted. Using Morgan table and stratified random sampling method, 256 persons were selected as the statistical sample of the research. 300 questionnaires were distributed among which 283 were returned, the final data analysis was conducted for 283 persons using SPSS and LISREL software. Standard multifactor leadership questionnaire (MLQ) and Cheney's organizational identity questionnaire (1982) were used to collect data regarding transformational leadership and organizational identity, respectively. The reliability of the questionnaires was calculated to be 0.96 and 0.85, respectively, using cronbach's alpha coefficient. Hypothesis and assumed relationships between variables in the proposed theoretical model were investigated using regression analysis and structural equation model. The results obtained from this research showed that there was a positive and meaningful relationship between transformational leadership style, its variables and organizational identity of faculty members in the state universities of West Azerbaijan Province, Iran (p<0.01, r=0.26). In addition, the statistical results obtained from this research indicated a positive and the direct effect of transformational leadership style on organizational identity of faculty members. The results also showed that, among different components of transformational leadership style, intellectual stimulation had the strongest effect on organizational identity of faculty members.","PeriodicalId":44603,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Management","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71064241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
