With studies showing program developed by novice programmers can influence software complexity due to lack of experience, practice, and understanding of the concept of programming. This paper investigates the utilisation of machine learning techniques to analyse code complexity levels. Using a public collection of JavaScript codes, we developed a machine learning model to identify the relationship between code characteristics and complexity level. We selected six methods and performed k-fold cross-validation. It was observed that Classification and Regression Trees (CART) and K-Nearest Neighbours (KNN) yielded the best prediction results. Finally, we also implemented a visualisation tool to present the code analysis results providing a means to gain insights on JavaScript codes through their characteristics and complexity level.","PeriodicalId":445708,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering (CSDE)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116439143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sensor was designed as part of an Autonomous Electric Hauler system (AEH) that is to follow a power cable that will power inductive charging stations for the robot. The AEH was proposed to address the increasing concerns related to conventional hauler trucks including (i) rising fuel and labour prices, (ii) stricter ventilation regulations of the underground mines, and (iii) the significant increase in operating cost of a mine site. We present investigation of various sensor configuration including $emptyset$60mm coil 25 turns, $emptyset$90mm coil 25 turns, $emptyset$115mm coil 50 turns and $150mmtimes 80mm$ coil 25 turns. The $150mm times 80mm$ coil was found to perform best with a sensing range of up to 165mm. With five receiver coils and four transmit coils, the power cable was able to be located.","PeriodicalId":445708,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering (CSDE)","volume":"22 Suppl 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116567791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With this paper we propose a model which can select stocks effectively in the US stock market by feature extraction from data provided by the Quantopian platform. Our approach consisted of 17 features of 4 different domains. To determine the importance of each feature Ada-boost classifier was use. Then the topsis method was applied over 1500 stocks from the US stock market. After the applying the TOPSIS method Ideal solutions and Worst solutions were generated. Using those values all the stocks were given a performance score, which was used in selecting the stocks for the ideal portfolio. Our overall approach was to use Ada-boost to find the weights of each of the features and then apply TOPSIS to select the best stocks.","PeriodicalId":445708,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering (CSDE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129482249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Incorporating learning effects with NHPP models may improve the predictive capability of these models and leads to more accurate predictions. In this paper, a NHPP model [1] based on one-parameter Lindley distribution is integrating with learning effects. More specifically, the new model is built by considering two influential factors: the autonomous errors-detected factor and the learning factor. Then, its performance is validated and compared to the classical NHPP model both objectively and subjectively based on five real reliability datasets and using three different criteria. The application results show that: in term of influential factors when the autonomous errors-detected factor is lowest and the learning factor is highest, the improved NHPP L model is efficient. Also, the optimized model by incorporating learning effects is more accurate and better predicted than the classical NHPP model.","PeriodicalId":445708,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering (CSDE)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130327660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is especially true with large crowds where close-up counting of faces is not easy/possible. Deep learning offers some opportunities to tackle these issues. In this paper, we describe the implementation of a crowd counting application based on a Multi-task Convolutional Neural Network. This approach enables the model to detect and gradually refine the identification and counting of faces. We tailor the model to make it suitable for the counting of individuals in larger-scale crowds using non-trivial and hence realistic and challenging crowd images. We provide details of the practical realization of the model through two mobile applications (iPhone/Android) and a web application for statistical analysis.","PeriodicalId":445708,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering (CSDE)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128302659","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Of the many characteristics, proactivity has been seen to be an essential attribute for success in areas such as workforce, health and education sectors. This research paper considers the possible association between proactivity and gender. Three measures of proactivity namely proactive personality, proactive confidence and proactive behaviour were used. The analytics and tests showed that the proactivity levels do not differ between genders, at least in the unique settings of South Pacific. The results were attributed to the Pacific way of life and the unique culture and tradition of the South Pacific region.","PeriodicalId":445708,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering (CSDE)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125817763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accurately assessing the risk of a certain city can help formulate effective measures to prevent and control COVID-19 in time. It will be of great significance for us to measure city risk in infection amid epidemics. City risk in infection is related to many factors. To address this problem, this paper proposes city risk index (CRI) to measure city risk in infection, considering the following four perspectives: economy (i.e., GDP and FCI), technology (i.e., education and innovation), population, and geographical position (i.e., latitude and longitude). The experimental results show that CRI can be effectively employed to measure city risk in infection amid COVID-19 as well as other similar epidemics. The proposed CRI can be used to guide policymakers for better emergency management policies making when coping with COVID-19.","PeriodicalId":445708,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering (CSDE)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125876377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The device is intended to supply energy to wireless structural health monitoring sensors of bridges. The main objective of the research is to broaden the frequency bandwidth of energy harvesting and thus increase energy harvesting using the nonlinearity and multimodality phenomena. A standard field vibration test was carried out for a selected bridge in order to capture the vibration characteristics. Initially, a finite element model of the L shaped device was created based on published data. The model was then applied to investigate the optimum dimensional combination of the device by varying its dimensions to match the natural frequency of the bridge. The dynamics of the model was validated by published theoretical and experimental results by considering the natural frequencies and the mode shapes. Natural frequencies of the bridge and the device were matched in order to extract maximum power. Laboratory experiments were conducted to tune the device and to validate the finite element results. Results show that FEM analysis can be used to tune an L shaped device to match a natural frequency of the bridge, thereby reducing the costs associated with repeated fabrication and trials.","PeriodicalId":445708,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering (CSDE)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123959465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The issue of preventing fraud and establishing democracy has always been a major challenge in all countries. In the Digital age, the conventional paper votes have been replaced by the benefits of low costs, high performance and little errors. The simple truth that electronic voting processes have been preserved in the central database causes issues: voting data isn’t accessible and clear enough, and they are easy to hack and to falsify, the users experience a risk of leakage and the voting outcomes can not be checked by voters. Blockchain is the infrastructure that will help us reduce the identity uncertainty and provide accountability, transparency in voting systems. Many researchers have proposed several solutions inheriting the diverse features of the Blockchain. Understanding the features and their importance in Blockchain Voting is an important topic. Therefore, this paper focuses on a systematic review by several authors of different forms of blockchain-based voting to identify challenges and solutions of blockchain for using in voting and help researchers to make a proper voting framework in the perspective of their country.","PeriodicalId":445708,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Computer Science and Data Engineering (CSDE)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122649174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
