In our study, we used the Vector Error Correction (VEC) framework by initially looking at the long run and short run relationship between Malaysia available Shariah indices (i.e. KLSI, FTSE Bursa Malaysia EMAS Shariah Index and FTSE Bursa Malaysia Hijrah Shariah Index) and the macroeconomic variables via the Johansen cointegration technique. Monthly data during the twenty two-year period (from January 1990 to December 2011) has been collected from DataStream and tested. The findings show positive relationship between the variables from 1990 to 2006. However, mix results were found after the period till 2011. This study then conclude that the standardized set of macroeconomic variables that specified by earlier researchers still can be relied but in careful policy formulation.","PeriodicalId":444674,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Colloquium on Humanities, Science and Engineering (CHUSER)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124549344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The lattice parameter of PbZrO3 (PZ) was calculated as a reference compound and the results show an accuracy values relative to the experimental values. In this first-principle calculations, the exchange-correlation functional is based on LDA-CAPZ which give underestimate in structural lattice parameters with typical errors of 2%. The elastic constants and their pressure dependence were calculated up to 30 GPa, and independent elastic constants (C11, C12, and C44), bulk modules, B are obtained and analyzed. Density of state (DOS) studies reveal that the anion O 2p, cation Sn 5p/Pb 5p and Zr 4d states of SZ and PZ play an important role which correspond to the top of valence states and bottom of conduction band. Meanwhile, direct band gap at X-X point is respectively obtained for both SZ and PZ along the higher symmetry direction in the Brillouin zone. The born effective charges (BEC) values of Sn and Zr (in SZ) have respectively been found to be +4.26 and +7.53. This is attributed to the bond charge response to the displacement caused by the strong covalency between cation orbital and O 2p. Results reveal anion O 2p, cation Sn 5p and Zr 4d states have also played an important role in optical transition in which they respectively correspond to the top of valence states and bottom of conduction band. The results of prototype SZ were compared and showed in good agreement with the calculated results of PZ.","PeriodicalId":444674,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Colloquium on Humanities, Science and Engineering (CHUSER)","volume":"24 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116639283","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different types of oil of different viscosity are employed to test the selectivity nature and the sorption capacity of 1 g fiber. The types of oil used are diesel (low viscosity), palm oil based cooking oil (medium viscosity) and lubricating oil (high viscosity). Kapok fiber managed to absorb all the oil with the lubricating oil is the highest amount absorbed. Following the selectivity test, the morphology of raw kapok fiber and the oil absorbed kapok fibers is analysed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The fiber that absorbed different types of oils is relatively quite stable as they show little change in morphology compared to the raw kapok. Kapok fiber shows great potential as oil sorbent on any type of oil owing to its excellent hydrophobicity-oleophilicity characteristic.","PeriodicalId":444674,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Colloquium on Humanities, Science and Engineering (CHUSER)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127518150","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two types of photocatalysts were prepared namely Zn/ZnO and Zn/ZnO/TiO2. Zn/ZnO film was prepared by anodic oxidation of zinc in NaOH with various concentrations. Zn/ZnO deposited with TiO2 photocatalyst was prepared by electrodeposition method. It was found that the optimum concentration for the electrolyte solution (NaOH) was 0.8 M. The pH value of the sample solution had influenced the photocatalytic activity of Zn/ZnO/TiO2 plate in degrading BTX solution. The most suitable pH for the degradation of BTX was pH 6. The most effective degradation of BTX solution using Zn/ZnO/TiO2 plate is 91.54% degradation under four hours of UV irradiation time. The Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) were applied to study the surface morphology of the Zn/ZnO plate and Zn/ZnO/TiO2 photocatalysts. The large porous surface of Zn/ZnO plate prepared by using 0.8 M NaOH contributed to large amount of TiO2 deposited onto the surface of the photocatalyst and excellent performance of Zn/ZnO/TiO2 on UV-Induced degradation of BTX solution.","PeriodicalId":444674,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Colloquium on Humanities, Science and Engineering (CHUSER)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125893614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conventional physical and chemical treatments are restricted because of their technical and economical constraints. One of the possible solutions is introducing biosorption method in heavy metals removal. The present study aim to evaluate the potential of Pleurotus ostreatus (P.ostreatus) fungus in the removal of Fe(II), Pb(II), Zn(II) and Cu(II) ions from single and multi metal synthetic solution. Throughout the study, the best operating treatment process were found when the pH of the solution was above 4 with 80.52, 45.20, 12.47 and 2.88% removal for Fe(II), Cu(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II); agitation speed of 150 rpm and temperature of 25°C. It was found that the removal of heavy metals is lower from single than multi metal solution. The biosorption preference order of P.ostreatus is Fe(II) > Cu(II) > Pb(II) > Zn(II). The results obtained validate that biosorption by P.ostreatus is a potential method in replacing conventional heavy metal removal and in the wastewater treatment.","PeriodicalId":444674,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Colloquium on Humanities, Science and Engineering (CHUSER)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123273992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, this paper presents the development of a two-dimensional angle driven simulation model of throwing activity using the inverse dynamics modeling system, where the motion, gravitational and external forces are used as input to allow computation of muscle forces and joint reactions. This paper considers the throwing activity of the dominant arm. Kane's method has been used to formulate the equations of motion which describes the upper limbs kinematics. There are three intersegment link involved that consists of scapula, lateral arm and forearm. Forearm and hand have been modeled as one rigid segment since wrist flexion was not a main contributor to the ball velocity at release during overarm throwing. By considering all the kinetics involved during throwing activity, this model able to calculate the value of torque at shoulder joint.","PeriodicalId":444674,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Colloquium on Humanities, Science and Engineering (CHUSER)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126724009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reading skill is the most crucial ability as it is required in the upper level of discovery of knowledge. In this research, Phonic Reading Technique and Multisensory Approach are blended with interactive multimedia, which incorporates multimedia elements such as text, graphics, video, and animation. The manner of applying those techniques in “Bijak Membaca” is discussed. The contents of this application are specifically designed to visualize letters, words, sentences, and pronunciations in the Malay language for dyslexics, aged 7–8 years, with awareness of their characteristics. In order to evaluate the design of its content, heuristic testing is conducted among multimedia lecturers and IT undergraduates. The result reveals that the contents are well designed with the inclusion of Phonic Reading Technique, Multisensory Approach, and suitable multimedia elements. It is also concluded as interesting, user-friendly, attractive, valuable, and supportive.","PeriodicalId":444674,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Colloquium on Humanities, Science and Engineering (CHUSER)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115548482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Long term wave data is important for the design of coastal structures and for the calculation of sediment transport rates. In this study a third-generation wave model has been used to generate 10 years (1992–2001) of wave climate atlas for the Persian Gulf. The European Center for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) wind field data after some modifications, and compiled bathymetry data from few sources, were employed as the input data of the model. In situ and satellite wave datasets were used to calibrate the model, and the validation of the results. The results show that the higher waves have a better accuracy over the whole Persian Gulf, and the overall accuracy is more than 80% for all simulated data. All the datasets (input and output data) were stored in a GIS-based software that was developed to provide a user friendly environment for data visualization and extraction. A multidimensional data model was developed for data management and visualization of numerical model results in the GIS environment. The integration of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), and commercial GIS components used for data management and software development.","PeriodicalId":444674,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Colloquium on Humanities, Science and Engineering (CHUSER)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116502729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
