It is necessary to pay significant attention to them also in terms of Smart City concept. The present work summarizes the requirements on the metro management system, which also needed to be satisfied in the Smart City concept. On the basis of tools of risk engineering and knowledge from the field of information technologies, it proposes the measures for improving the cyber security and the metro management system information power.","PeriodicalId":442052,"journal":{"name":"2017 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130959167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While effective at catalyzing prosperity, city development has not always been “smart” sacrificing human health, for instance, for greater productivity. Smart cities are now emerging. Leading smart cities such as Stockholm, Barcelona, New York, Vienna, and Toronto have incorporated efficiency into buildings, infrastructure, and social spaces using technological advancements, increasing the livability, workability, and sustainability of these places. Inspired by these smart city developments, India is planning to build 100 smart cities in various parts of the country. This research presents insight into how smart cities are likely to evolve in India, by studying the priority areas considered in planning smart cities. It presents both the citizen and city official perspectives of smart cities. The results indicate that citizens value living, followed by mobility, environment, governance, and economy, whereas the city officials prioritize living, followed by environment, economy, mobility, and governance. This research further evaluated the titles of planned smart city projects to determine how many of them can be categorized as smart. The analysis also revealed how city size influences the priorities of citizens and city officials, indicating that the notion of a smart city in India may be context specific.","PeriodicalId":442052,"journal":{"name":"2017 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131173176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Budapest there was no project to treat the logistics of the malls as a system. In the capital of Hungary there are 18 shopping malls, which are big city logistics junctions and now there is no possibility of a consolidated system to supply them. Budapest is the biggest city of Hungary; which area is 525,2 km2 and the population is 1.750.000. In this city (in 2015) there were 32405 retailers, and more than 3000 of them were in shopping malls. This means, that more than the 10% of retailers of the city are concentrated in these 18 junctions. We started our project in 2015 to deal with the logistics characteristics of the malls on Budapest and we developed a methodology, which is suitable to examine the freight transports and the city logistics parameters of the malls. With our methodology we measured 3 shopping mall and more, than 300 shop of them. After this we prepared our mesoscopic simulation model, which helps us to examine the goods supply of the malls. This model is suitable to show us, which advantages it can have, when we organize the supplies of the malls in consolidated city logistics system.","PeriodicalId":442052,"journal":{"name":"2017 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"79 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129791648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a summary of field measurements which were carried out on two sections of actual alternative routes in order to verify the model. Also, the development of an application for testing the model is described in the article. The application was designed in such a way as to allow entering and evaluation of proposed alternative routes by means of an intuitive environment. Subsequently, the model was calibrated using the measured values acquired during field research and verified in order to prove its general relevance to the calculation of travel times.","PeriodicalId":442052,"journal":{"name":"2017 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130864999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we propose a Knowledge Discovery System that first gathers information from car sharing sites and applications, and then processes it to estimate interesting metrics such as travel time and vehicle flows in the urban areas at different times and in different days. We further argue that the information gathered can be processed in real-time, to estimate instant traffic, and can be exploited to perform deeper analysis, using historical data. Finally, we analyze vehicle availability as a function of time in different zones and show how the results can be applied to travel time estimation, car stockout forecast and multimodal travel planning.","PeriodicalId":442052,"journal":{"name":"2017 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130986271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By recent terroristic attacks at Berlin, Brussel and Bordeaux the feeling of insecurity has been increased by many citizens. There is a call for smart surveillance cameras all over the city. Up to now surveillance cameras were not preferred by citizens because cameras threaten privacy of citizens. But privacy seems to be overruled by security. At this moment the video footage of cameras are analyzed after aggressive, criminal acts. There is a need for real time processing to capture criminals during or shortly after the criminal act. In this paper we discuss the use of surveillance cameras to localize and recognize faces from suspect individuals.","PeriodicalId":442052,"journal":{"name":"2017 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129833417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concept of Smart City is based on urban development that takes into account the environmental footprint to improve the living quality of the residents. Energy savings are a basic component of this concept. The main focus has been on the smart development of the big metropolitan areas; however, a new trend has emerged where rural areas are considered an attractive possibility to implement these energy efficiency technologies This research aim to show the importance of developing energy efficiency technologies for the rural areas since it is estimated that the needs of energy access are 80% in rural zones. This article is focused on rural areas in Colombia where 70% of small towns are far or isolated from the electrical network. The aim is to develop a methodology to evaluate the current situation and find solutions to optimize the energy efficiency. As a case study, the city of Inirida was analyzed finding that there are existing inefficiencies in the generation, transport and final use of the electrical energy. Possible solutions include changing the public lights bulbs from incandescent to LED lights, and the use of more energy efficient appliances such as refrigerators, in both cases, the investment can be recovered in two years. Other solutions such as smart metering or renewable distributed generation were also considered and found viable.","PeriodicalId":442052,"journal":{"name":"2017 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121492753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A solar chimney for supporting of a natural ventilation can be an interesting way of an energy saving. Solar chimneys are still not fully recognized issue. Realizations are few and mainly they are in southern countries. This paper considers the potential of solar chimneys in Czech climate conditions during the winter time. The analysis deals with the full scale model of the solar chimney that was built at University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings in central Bohemia near Buštěhrad. The differences in behavior of the system are shown for two days in January. Days differ in a level of solar radiation, temperatures and a wind power. Results show that there is a potential for energy savings for supporting of ventilation not only at sunny days but also at windy days. During the sunny days a lot of energy can be saved extra over by air preheating.","PeriodicalId":442052,"journal":{"name":"2017 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123365783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This type of economy enables sharing of unused resources in the community, which is a key concept in Smart City initiatives. This paper focuses on the field of crowdsourced logistics, where many startups have emerged in the last years. Also companies, which provide other crowdsourced services, such as Uber, are often creating their logistics spin offs. However there is no well-known market leader yet. The aim of this paper is to find common key denominators of the most successful crowdsourced logistics companies. It should provide a lead to nascent companies and future research, where to pay attention. Crowdsourcing started to be studied after 2006 when the term was first used. Nowadays papers about this topic are appearing more frequently. However there has not been a clear comparison of crowdsourced logistics companies according to their revenues and raised funds. Such research can help future companies to identify the most important key features to cover.","PeriodicalId":442052,"journal":{"name":"2017 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123888632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
