An extract from a dental history case is a good example where complex rehabilitation of a patient with a complicated clinical case in which modern methods are pragmatically used. Case Presentation: Patient details, Gender: male; 74 years old; complained of deformed appearance, chewing and biting food. His old wearing out dentures also proved the patient’s sensitive experiences. Digital diagnostic methods were used as prosthetic preparations: computed tomography and automated implant planning. The last one allowed to choose the implant’s model, type and size. Also the data of computed tomography, three-dimensional models of dentition, wax modeling of dentition and the place selection of implant insertion were compared in the program. It was decided to remove the remaining teeth due to the decompensated possibilities of their periodonts. It was planned to replace the missing teeth with implant prostheses. The first stage was the removal of the teeth on the upper jaw with simultaneous implantation. After that, the day of surgery, the impression was carried out to create the preliminary denture expendable. The final prosthesis was performed 6 months after the surgery with fixed all-ceramic structures on screw fixation. Long-term results are stable; the patient notes a high level of life quality. Conclusions: The use of digital technologies as well as navigational surgical template increases the efficiency, accuracy and quality of implant prosthetics providing the successful use of aesthetically high-quality fixed replacement structures in complete loss of teeth. Such implant prostheses are a new type of replacement structures-”full fixed prostheses”.","PeriodicalId":439136,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Sciences Research and Therapy","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133249472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study explores Ego-Stroking Sandwich feedback and Non-Sandwich feedback as the feedback types and Instructors feedback vs. Scoring guide feedback as the feedback delivery method. Methods: Eleven participants participated in the study. An initial questionnaire assessing perceptions of feedback was administered. Participants performed a maxillary and a mandibular impression while receiving a type of feedback; the impressions were evaluated using a scoring guide. A post impression questionnaire was administered to gather participants’ perceptions on preferred feedback delivery method. Results: The results show that Ego Stroking Sandwich and Motivation ( was slightly less effective than Non-Sandwich and Encouragement ( and the Instructor Feedback subscale ( had a statistically significant higher mean for students in the Ego Stroking Sandwich condition than the Scoring Guide subscale did ( M= 2.67 , SD .242 ). The instructor feedback subscale had a statistically significant higher mean ( M= 3.70, SD = .253 ) for students in the Non-Sandwich condition than the Scoring Guide subscale did ( M= 2.71, SD = .149 ). These results indicate that students prefer instructor feedback to scoring guide feedback. the In order to deliver feedback effectively, instructors must understand different types of feedback available and different ways of delivering feedback in the clinical setting to foster self-efficacy. Ramany and Krackov, present a summary of twelve tips for effective implementation of feedback techniques in the clinical setting. Some of the discussion on feedback here, involves the establishing of a respectful environment, goal setting and communicating goals in a clear and direct way so that objectives for feedback are set, focusing feedback on performance, and the use of neutral, specific language to focus on performance. In addition, the success of feedback orientation depends on setting professional development opportunities for faculty and staff and creating an institutional atmosphere where feedback is Stroking Sandwich Type feedback that uses ego-stroking statements at the beginning and end.","PeriodicalId":439136,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Sciences Research and Therapy","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115258208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is evidence that patient-centered approaches may have better outcomes than traditional advice giving when a lifestyle change is involved. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between the transtheoretical model stages of change and the level of oral hygiene in orthodontic patients. Material and Methods: A total of 106 orthodontic patients, aged 12-25 years, wearing fixed appliances in both arches, were recruited from the Orthodontic Department of Universitat de Barcelona. All patients received a session of conventional education in oral hygiene, were evaluated using plaque and gingival indexes and were categorized according to the transtheoretical model of Prochaska and Diclemente, a model to determine health-related behaviors based on people readiness to change habits. Results: Almost two thirds of patients reported being at less advanced stages of change (63%), being the most frequent stage the preparation one (40%). Patients showed a mean plaque index of 1.05 (0.45) and a mean gingival index of 0.75 (0.38). A decrease in both indexes was found as the phase of stage of change progressed. Conclusion: Participants being at more advanced stages of change had better oral hygiene as compared with the ones at the contemplation and preparation stages.","PeriodicalId":439136,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Sciences Research and Therapy","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126026161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Estimation of age, ancestry, and stature are dependent on sex determination. Various parts of cranial and postcranial elements were studied for sex dimorphism in the literature. It is shown that the skeletal morphology in different sex was more pronounced in the adults than in the pre-pubertal period. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine sex in Malaysian adults by morphometric analysis of CT -scanned mandibles. Materials and Methods: The study was performed on 447 slices of scanned mandibles (894 different sides) in 244 males and 203 females. They comprised Malays (150), Chinese (137) and Indian (160) subjects within 18 to 87 years of age. Results: About ten parameters namely, perimeter and area of a triangle (formed by anterior ramus, coronion and mandibular notch) on the right and left side of mandible, and distances between anterior ramus and coronion, and between anterior ramus and mandibular notch and between coronion and mandibular notch (right and left sides of mandible) were an-alysed. By independent t-test, males were greater than females in all ten parameters ( p <0.01). Paired t-test between different sides of the coronoid process showed greater values on the right than left ( p< 0.01). The discriminant function showed correct classification rate for 70% of cases, with identification accuracy of 75.8% for male and 63.1% for female. Conclusion: In brief, mandible is a sexually dimorphic bone useful for identification in forensic scenario. This is a pioneer study of the mandible in the Malaysians, which should be validated in future research.","PeriodicalId":439136,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Sciences Research and Therapy","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133278673","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
