Every fifth person is found hypertensive. Most adults develop it, in later half of their life more than 50% of the deaths and disabilities from heart disease and stroke together kill more than 12 million people each year. It has been predicted that by the year 2020 there will be a 75% increase in the global cardiovascular disease burden occurring. Hypertension results from a variety of reasons like stress, obesity, genetic, factors, over use of salts in the diet and ageing. As we all know, hypertension is a silent killer because it rarely exhibits symptoms before it damages the heart, brain, or kidney. At present era there are many anti-hypertensive drugs are available in modern medicine, but none of them is free from untoward effects. Ayurveda can be described as a real science of life. Ayurveda concentrates on achieving the promotion of health, prevention and management of disease for a healthy and happy life in the ailing society. The principles of Ayurveda are focused on maintaining good health by good diet and good lifestyle. In Ayurveda texts books there is no clear pronunciation of Hypertension; According to Acharya Charak, sometimes neither it is possible nor it’s necessary to identify a disease by a name (Anuktavyadhi). An Ayurvedic physician should attempt to understand Samprapti (pathogenesis) of a given clinical conditions on the basis of signs, symptoms, acuteness, chronicity, complication with investigative findings in each case and should plan the management accordingly. Hetu causative factors, Linga signs and symptoms and Aushadha medicine. Further, Aushadha is explained in detail as treatment or procedure. Plants are one of the major constituents of the treatment part. In various Ayurvedic Samhitas, plants were described in brief until specific Granthas or texts were written focusing the plants. The texts in which the data about plants is compiled and recorded are classified as Nighantu. In Nighantu the information about plants is divided into two parts, synonyms and properties. Synonyms are considered as the guide for the identification of the plant in particular. This article aims to unravel the mysterious yet scientific information held by the synonym of certain plants. Some plants have synonyms based on Rudhi (Tradition) or Tale. To understand the Rudhita synonyms in detail, four plants viz. Shami, Agasti, Bilva and Kutaja are selected and reviewed for their literary meaning and properties. It is observed that the synonyms of these plants like Agnigarbha for Prosopis cineraria (Shami), Agasti for Sesbania grandiflora (Hadga), Bilva, Shreephala for Aegle marmelos (Bael) and Indravruksha for Holarrhena antidysenterica (Kutaja) hold specific properties and different scientific information than mere names. In modern science, it may be co-related with haemorrhoids. Haemorrhoid is a type of ano-rectal ailment that becomes more common as people get older. According to John Goligher (1984), 50 percent of people over the age of 50 years may have haemorrhoids after a thorough examination. It doesn't have a single cause, and it usually manifests as a group effort. In order to cure the patient, these conditions should be addressed with caution. Ayurveda and modern science have both outlined many therapies, surgical procedures, medicines etc. When treating this disease, a specific modality should be considered in each circumstance. Patients, however, receive incorrect therapies or medicines due to a lack of information, resulting in several consequences. So, using a comparison of basic concepts, the right treatment of arsha described in ayurveda and western science is elaborated here.","PeriodicalId":438487,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Ayurveda & Yoga","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131143664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to changed lifestyle, the physical and emotional stress increases. This leads to many physiological changes that ends with the disruption of ‘H-P-O’ axis and may leads to various gynaecological disorders. Artavakshaya is one of amongst them. Ratio of Menstrual disorder is raising in gynaecological practice which is a precursor of infertility and other problems. Artavakshaya is also seen as one of the manifestation of the Yonivyapadas like Arajaska/Lohitkshaya Yonivyapada & Vatala Yonivyapada, along with ksheen artavadusti and jataharini. Modern science & Ayurveda both offer treatment for the Artavakshay, but in modern science very little options are there like hormonal therapy while Ayurveda describes various modalities like life style modification, correction of diet ,oral medication and Panchakarma procedures so this study is undertaken to through the light on classical reference of Artavakshaya with modern correlation & its Ayurvedic management.","PeriodicalId":438487,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Ayurveda & Yoga","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134194169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
