Previous research suggests that food insecurity is significantly higher among children of immigrants than among children of native-born parents, even after taking into account parental work status and family income. Research also suggests that food insecurity is higher among less acculturated immigrants— those who have limited English proficiency (LEP), are noncitizens, or have more recently arrived in the United States.","PeriodicalId":437495,"journal":{"name":"Child Trends","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133966169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, analyses indicate that children who watched more than three hours of television a day, who did not communicate very well with their parents, and whose parents knew few or none of their friends had greater levels of externalizing (acting out) and internalizing behavior problems. Moreover, we found that children in middle childhood were especially likely to have behavior problems if they watched more than three hours of television a day and had low parental involvement.","PeriodicalId":437495,"journal":{"name":"Child Trends","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125459342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many evaluated programs include multiple components. Consequently, one can usually determine only whether or not programs work; rarely can we isolate the exact component of a complex intervention that is responsible for producing the effects.","PeriodicalId":437495,"journal":{"name":"Child Trends","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133862810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
