Recent changes in managerial values across the Tourism industry, particularly hotels, due to the emerging realities of business operations and survival of post COVID-19 and other crisis factors, however, suggest rising concerns over job insecurity, poor staff safety and health and other factors based on the new normal. This paper, in investigating the mediating effect of managerial values on the relationship between high performance work systems and service delivery in 4-star hotels in the South-south of Nigeria, revealed that while the relationship between high performance work systems (information sharing and decision-making) and service delivery is significant, managerial values does not significantly mediate or explain the relationship between the variables. The findings point to high performance work systems as a significant predictor of service delivery. Thus, it was affirmed that high performance work systems enables the effective control and health of related processes through information sharing and decentralized decision making such that enrich communications, creativity levels and thus facilitate features that are conducive and necessary for outcomes of service delivery. It is therefore recommended that managers create enabling environment for decentralised decision-making, information sharing links and creativity for efficient service delivery.","PeriodicalId":434915,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Innovative Research in Social Sciences and Strategic Management Techniques","volume":"197 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131361176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The documented rise in sexual violence in Nigeria especially people with poor socio-economic legislators and status is not only to attributed to excessive drinking and indecent dressing but men superiority or the support of culture and beliefs that rape is a sign of maleness the fear of stigmatization, extortion from law enforcement, and lastly lack of confidence in the judicial system. However, there is paucity of literature on how socio-legal attribute on rape victims in Nigeria. Hence, this study investigated the effect of socio-legal attitude toward rape victims in Nigeria. The study employed survey research design. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 1000 respondents to obtain information on relevant issues through the aid of Google. Results from the study show that majority of the respondents had a negative attitude towards rape victims. There was an effect on gender differences in the attitude of Nigerians to male rape victims based on gender differences with a p-value < 0.05 (0.000, X2 = 197.307). Therefore, we failed to reject the alternate hypothesis. There was an effect in the attitude of Nigerians to female rape victims based on gender differences with a p-value < 0.05 (0.000, X2 = 18.955). Therefore, the null hypothesis is rejected.In conclusion, there is a need for public health education on rape and as well encouragement of victims to report cases with an assurance of their safety. Specialized women’s right organizations that should provide capacity building support and logistics services to youths and students in higher institutions and more studies should be carried out to identify the perception of gender-based rape among specific regions in the country and assessment of rape myths and factors that make them.","PeriodicalId":434915,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Innovative Research in Social Sciences and Strategic Management Techniques","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133323901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a common and preferred food security crop especially among smallholder farmers because of its capacity to tolerate drought and low soil fertility; as well as ability to thrive with minimum external inputs among other factors. As a staple food among a large population in sub-Saharan Africa, it has attracted several research efforts in order to attain the improved varieties’ status. Accordingly, farmers have been encouraged to adopt the improved cassava varieties in order to increase productivity. Studies have shown farmers’ initial willingness to experiment with the improved cassava varieties but so far, continuous uptake and diffusion has not been achieved. This study examines factors affecting the sustained adoption of improved cassava varieties by smallholder farmers in Oboro clan, lkwuano L.G.A., Abia State, Nigeria. Data was obtained mostly from primary sources. A strategic random sampling procedure was used to select 150 smallholder cassava farmers from 10 communities of Oboro clan, Abia State. Using descriptive statistics, findings support a low intensity and un-sustained adoption of improved cassava varieties in the study area.","PeriodicalId":434915,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Innovative Research in Social Sciences and Strategic Management Techniques","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132843767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Forty years ago the developing countries looked a lot more like each other than they do today. Take India and South Korea. By any standards, both countries were extremely poor: India's income per capita was about $150 (in 1980 dollars) and South Korea's was about $350. Life expectancy was about forty years and fifty years respectively. In both countries, roughly 70 percent of the people worked on the land, and farming accounted for 40 percent of national income. The two countries were so far behind the industrial world that it seemed nearly inconceivable that either could ever attain reasonable standards of living, let alone catch up. This article examines the experiences of different countries.","PeriodicalId":434915,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Innovative Research in Social Sciences and Strategic Management Techniques","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131972848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examined the determinants of capital adequacy of deposit money banks in Nigeria. The study adopted correlation research design in a sample of 9 banks for a period of five years (2014-2019). Random effect regression technique of data analysis was employed, and the study found a signicant association between capital adequacy ratio and the determinants of capital adequacy of banks in Nigeria. The study found that firm performance (ROA) of the sample deposit money banks has significant positive impact on the capital adequacy ratio (CAR). The results show that bank size (BSZE) of the sample deposit money banks has significant positive effect on the capital adequacy ratio (CAR). And, also loan to deposit ratio (LDR) of the sample deposit money banks has significant positive impact on the capital adequacy ratio (CAR). The study concludes that ROA, BSZE and LDR are significant determinants of capital adequacy of banks in Nigeria during the period under review. The study recommends that regulators (CBN) should encourage banks to improve on their size, financial performance and enhanced risk assets (loans and advances). Management of deposit money banks in Nigeria should deploy more strategies that could improve the capital adequacy of their banks, so as to ensure sound banking industry in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":434915,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Innovative Research in Social Sciences and Strategic Management Techniques","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126139055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Civil service plays a crucial role in any country's economic development, particularly in Nigeria where the public sector is directly involved in national development. It serves as a pivot for design and execution sustainable economic development programmes. This necessitated the civil service to adopt more management methods, develop the necessary managerial abilities, and adopt a new strategy that includes project management in order to secure and ensure sustainability. This study explored the role of the civil service as a contributor to Nigeria’s sustainable economic development. The methodology adopted was a documentary review and contextual analysis of past and current literature on the impact of civil service on sustainable economic development in Nigeria. The inefficiency and incompetency of the Nigerian civil service are evident due to the poor execution of the national budgets and public policies geared towards economic development. Furthermore, the unpredictability of the Nigerian political and economic sector and the high cost of doing business which is undermining investors' confidence is another important negative effect on Nigerian civil service performance in promotion of sustainable economic development. Therefore, for the Nigerian civil service to contribute to sustainable economic development it must be made more appealing and supported, modern equipment and technologies should be introduced across all levels of the civil service, continuous professional development should be made mandatory in the civil service, and appointment and promotion in the civil service must be based on merit and qualifications.","PeriodicalId":434915,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Innovative Research in Social Sciences and Strategic Management Techniques","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127972183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
