Given the broad scope of military operations, there are many situations in military where military managers supervise civilian employees. Our empirical study explores the effects of Army sergeant supervision of civilian employees at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Eight themes in Army sergeants’ perceptions as supervisor of federal civilian employees were studied in-depth: (a) task, (b) education training, (c) family, (d) rules & regulations, (e) open communications, (f) last minute task, (g) direct leadership, and (h) experience. Our findings show that mismatch between leader perceptions and employee expectations lead to stress and absenteeism. Implications for future research and suggestions to reduce stress and absenteeism are discussed.","PeriodicalId":434443,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Military and Information Science","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121522518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The outcomes of the operations show us that plans and preparations were done in a hasty mood with a lack of contingency plans. The role given to civilian agencies to work with new Baghdad regime in the post war era weren’t implemented successfully. The post war period’s desired endstates weren’t achieved as were planned theoretically. What were the assumptions of CENTCOM before the OPLAN 1003? On which bases did the counterinsurgency policy rely on? What was the reaction of Iraqi people against OIF army? How does this policy effect the desired endstate? The aim of this article is to reply the mentioned questions above. This paper seeks to show the weaknesses of counterinsurgency policy pursed in OIF and the measures taken in wake of the failure. Finally the lessons learnt are depicted and suggestions are given. Most military applications of RFID have focused on logistics systems. Since RFID investment requires high initial cost and its benefits are hard to see in the short term, it needs an appropriate investment decision model. The purpose of this research is to propose a Life Cycle Cost (LCC) model for RFID integration into the Military Logistics System (MLS). The study primarily focuses on the question, whether the cost of integrating and operating the MLS with RFID is worth investing. The results of this study provide a strategic roadmap allowing decision makers to determine if the logistics system considered is a good candidate for RFID technology integration based on the comparison of the LCCs of the current and the RFID integrated MLS. This study also enlightens possible cost parameters and their impacts on the total cost of RFID technology implementation in MLS.","PeriodicalId":434443,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Military and Information Science","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133357708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To increase this satisfaction level, perceived service quality is one of the main factors that companies must take into consideration. As a result of the rapid change in technology and the decrease in time spent on shopping, the usage of technology markets has become more common. Measurement of perceived service quality and its impact on customer satisfaction has also become crucial for technology markets. In this study, SERVQUAL method, built up by Parasuraman, Zeithaml and Berry, has been used to measure perceived service quality. The population consists of 417 people above 18 years of age who live in Istanbul. A public survey is used as the data collecting method and a factor analysis, T-tests, an ANOVA/Welch test and a reliability analysis are performed from the acquired data by using the SPSS package program. Moreover, the model structured for the study is tested through a LISREL structural equation model.","PeriodicalId":434443,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Military and Information Science","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123860050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today the world has been experiencing dazzling changes on many fields as well as technology. With the help of the new emerging technologies the data that have to be handled for intelligence is much more than ever. In addition to new technological contributions, there are discussions about intelligence cycle whether it’s being out-dated and old fashioned. Intelligence cycle was mainly prepared due Soviet threat. After the collapse of Soviet Union, concept of security has shifted drastically. And consequently, people have started to question its validity. The biggest question is about the intelligence cycle model. Does the process meet today’s needs? If not so what should be done in order to attain more effective intelligence? Therefore, this paper deals with the knowledge hierarchy and intelligence cycle with view to state viability of intelligence cycle in today’s condition and moreover examines new approaches to intelligence development process.","PeriodicalId":434443,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Military and Information Science","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132919277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The core mechanism that supports the army is its leaders. Since winning or preventing wars has become a phenomenon, the discussions bring the intriguing issue of leadership competencies an army has to evaluate to better build its decision making structure, and the mission command in which leaders have to consider the factors that they come across in new battle scenarios. Considering the era that the battlefield technology has reached, the responsibility of the army leader is increased and the competencies that he or she has to possess have become a complex issue. With the concept of mission command and possible scenarios in which leaders have to weigh both the political and economic conditions of an environment; the knowledge, talent, experience and education come forth as the prerequisites. In one of the workshops that The International Conference on Military and Security Studies has organized, Leadership and Mission Command , the leadership features of the officers who are going to serve in unconventional warfare, and the challenges of mission command are discussed in order to lay out the possible solutions to the difficulties that armies may face in future operational areas. The outputs, lessons taken from the experiences, different views and presentations of the participants during the workshop are presented below.","PeriodicalId":434443,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Military and Information Science","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127042452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All the applications like Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn have gained a wide range of usage allowing the applicants have a very media to express themselves freely. The users of social media have a chance to articulate themselves, share their views and interact with the other. These opportunities also enable the intelligence workers to reach some information that is not possible to catch when directly asked for or cannot be dared to ask indirectly as it is not appreciated. Because, in social media, all the contents are built by the users willingly and the users of social media don’t feel themselves under threat as they build up the content without external push. So it is not possible to talk about privacy. Although some contents have limited access, when the size of unlimited ones are thought, social media presents a big opportunity for data mining. In today’s intelligence literature, social media is a subject of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT). This study tries to explain how to use social media more effectively as an exploitation area for intelligence staff.","PeriodicalId":434443,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Military and Information Science","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129136879","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
