In order to be included in today's society it is becoming increasingly important to be able to use the current available technological tools. The number of apps is growing exponentially but very few are really accessible to people with IDD. Accessibility is usually a missing variable of the equation, and when present is usually directed towards user with a sensory disability, such as visual or listening impairment. This scenario derives in a social breach that excludes people with IDD from the information society. In order to palliate this situation, the ABLE-TO-INLCUDE project creates a context aware accessibility layer based in developed components that, by being integrated with existent and future ICT tools (especially with mobile apps) can improve daily tasks of people with IDD and help them interact with the information society. The integration of this accessibility layer with existent ICT tools will be demonstrated in 3 different pilots in Spain, Belgium and UK, in 3 different usage scenarios (leisure within the information society, mobility and labour integration). In this paper, we focus on the mobility pilot in Belgium. This pilot builds on the research that led to the development of the Viamigo toolkit. This is composed of apps that monitors people on the move, evaluates their position against the expected path and alerts caretakers or coaches when unexpected events occur. The benefits of such a toolkit are discussed. Vulnerable people use Viamigo. The organisations, parents and caretakers are often not very familiar with the use of technology. The design and modeling of Viamigo is therefore much depending on users expectations and acceptance of the technology. This paper will report on methods and results of the human-centered approach walked hand in hand with the development cycle. This paper also reports on interactions with the different stakeholders, the technological choices that resulted from this and the architecture that is put in place to support these choices. The Viamigo project is used as an interdisciplinary platform that brings together students from engineering, social science and occupational therapy. They contribute to the research from different perspectives and collaborate over the borders of their own study field. Finally, we discuss the future development, based on user experiences and technological opportunities.","PeriodicalId":433872,"journal":{"name":"2015 6th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications (IISA)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133898755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We consider the aspect ≪language - thinking≫ and the stages of developing interaction between a person and information environment by means of programs. We set up the problem concerning the necessity to find the ways of constructing software by nonprofessionals. We offer the efficient way to eliminate the distinction in the system ≪interface-software programming language≫ via using visual programming language as a tool for people to communicate with machine. We designate the prospects of using visual programming languages and difficulties in their creation and implementation. We conclude that developing cloud technologies opens up new opportunities to make cross-subject tools of creating and changing software functionality by people without professional qualifications in programming. It is noted that developing and using visual languages can have considerable impact on the development of nano-bio-info-cogno technologies (NBIC) as well as on the research in the field of cognitive management, artificial intelligence as modeling visual thinking and other research areas. We recommend further understanding how to use visual programming languages in social, philosophical and psychological aspects.","PeriodicalId":433872,"journal":{"name":"2015 6th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications (IISA)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122200072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

New applications should definitely keep a thin balance among these technological possibilities, the widely used distance learning platforms and the pedagogical subsistence of the educational procedure. Furthermore, they must (i) support the position and make teacher's work easier, as a leader of the educational process, (ii) take into account the knowledge and creativity of the students, (iii) make a better adaptation of the educational material to the needs, goals, special interests etc. of the students. In this work, an innovative application of mobile technology in learning a foreign language - at this case Russian verbs of motion by Greek students - is presented.","PeriodicalId":433872,"journal":{"name":"2015 6th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications (IISA)","volume":"2002 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128315123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More specifically, we provide all relevant information regarding TSP-TW, Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS) and initialization methods, then we quote all related work in the direction on solving this NP-HARD problem, and at last we propose our new implementation for generating initial, feasible solution for the TSP-TW. We are thoroughly focused on the behavior of our main algorithm to different random-based or sorting-based initialization procedures of our main implemented algorithm. At last, we show experimentally that in some cases, the use of a sorting function as an initialization function in this algorithm did not work and never returned a feasible solution in some cases.","PeriodicalId":433872,"journal":{"name":"2015 6th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications (IISA)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134580036","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Part of this stems from the fact that modeling occlusion/diffraction effects is a difficult and computationally intensive task. Inspired by our previous work that saw the development of a three-dimensional acoustical occlusion method, here we present a method that approximates acoustical occlusion/diffraction effects for dynamic and interactive two-dimensional virtual environments and games (or three-dimensional environments that can be approximated by a two-dimensional mapping). We also discuss an innovative use for the method allowing it to be incorporated into the artificial intelligence of non-player characters (e.g., enemies), allowing them to \"perceive\" sounds and therefore behave in a more natural, and realistic manner. Preliminary experimental results demonstrate that the method is capable of operating at interactive rates.","PeriodicalId":433872,"journal":{"name":"2015 6th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications (IISA)","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133083926","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the same time, they need to reach the market as early as possible and at low cost. Finally, they need to operate as embedded devices with low power budget. On top of that, the algorithms that they implement are getting even more sophisticated, advanced and demanding. To cope with all these diverse requirements, control system designers are moving with fast steps to the digital hardware design field and specifically, FPGAs, System-on-Chip architectures and productivity improving methodologies like High-Level Synthesis, which uses C/C++ as an abstract hardware description language. In this paper, using these tools, the implementation of 3 control algorithms is shown, the classical PID algorithm, a Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) and an Adaptive or Tuning Fuzzy Logic Controller (TFLC). The novelty of the proposed approach is that through specific coding and compiler directives, the C/C++ input descriptions are automatically implemented as advanced multicore architectures (3 most advanced of them are put to extensive experimentation and compared), which execute up to 500K algorithm iterations in less that 1 sec, taking advantage of an embedded ARM family microcontroller and common memory blocks found in the underlying FPGA implementation device. This is a substantial performance improvements and a high productivity boost, with very promising future extension capabilities.","PeriodicalId":433872,"journal":{"name":"2015 6th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications (IISA)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129001976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The limitations of the currently used Automatic Identification System (AIS) for ships is presented. The use of space based SAR sensors for MDA is discussed and the recently available ESA's Sentinel1 satellite is considered in more detail. An automatic methodology for ship detection from Sentinel-1 is presented and applied in the environmentally important sea straits between Kythera and Elafonisos islands, Southern Greece. This paper aims to present a probabilistic Bayesian model predicting the probability of a collision, contact or grounding occurrence in the Aegean Sea. The model takes into account the dynamic information of the navigation area and the prevailing weather conditions. The training of the network was performed using the data of the historical accident database of the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre, the National Meteorological Office of Greece and the Aminess database.
