The designed filters offer better transient frequency response for a given number of samples when compared to zero and projection initialization. Fine-tuning the positions of the poles to maximize the 3dB bandwidth of the transient frequency response for a given number of samples achieves the improvement. Second order filters were successfully designed for processing different numbers of samples and their performances were studied by considering their frequency responses.","PeriodicalId":433452,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE GCC Conference (GCC)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124456177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, the direct digital synthesizer is considered as one of the most important type due to the high resolution capability. The switching time of the conventional direct digital is mainly depending on the number of bits of the accumulator and the main clock of the reference frequency. In this paper, a proposed direct digital synthesizer is designed to reduce the time needed to change the required frequency. Computer simulation tests are used to examine the proposed system. The results of these tests show that the switching time is equal to the time interval of the main clock frequency.","PeriodicalId":433452,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE GCC Conference (GCC)","volume":"98 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122375821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the main problems of the current comparison method are in the very high inrush currents and relatively small fault currents regarding winding short circuits. Also The second harmonic component in fault current is increased in long lines which may blocks the relay operation. This paper describes a method to discriminate internal fault from inrush current and faults with a high second harmonic component by the sum of active power flowing into the transformer from each terminal. The average power is almost negligible for energizing, but an internal fault consumes large amounts of power.","PeriodicalId":433452,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE GCC Conference (GCC)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-03-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133867690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
