It is necessary to have a methodology to achieve good systems. Presently, there are a few methods for developing multi-agent-based systems. Taking experience of solutions that worked well in the past is the main purpose of the design patterns, which were found in designing object-oriented software. In this work, we present three design patterns that could be used for developing multi-agent-based systems. We made a high level design using these patterns and the design was applied to an emergency evacuation system. Without the using of specialized hardware as Laser Range Finders (LRF) or some others optical time-of-flight sensors, plane recovery is really a challenge. In this paper we present a robust approach for plane recovery from monocular images coming from an uncalibrated active Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) camera mounted on a mobile robot platform. Floor plane is obtained by tracking features, as interest points, between two sequential images taken by the robot camera. Projective invariants are measured over groups of five non-three collinear feature points, in order to detect groups of points on the same plane. The segmentation is carried out by classifying all image pixels into pixels belonging to the foreground regions and pixels belonging to the background region. For classification, the local intensity variance at each pixel position is compared to a threshold. Those pixels whose local intensity variance is bigger than the threshold are classified as belonging to the foreground regions. The threshold is estimated as a linear combination of two statistical characteristics of the local intensity variance values at the pixels in the background region. Those statistical characteristics are estimated from the histogram of the local intensity variance values of all image pixels by maximizing a likelihood function using an Expectation and Maximization approach. Misclassifications are corrected by particle filtering. The method is different from simple object detection, since it uses the context, i.e. the whole image. The key idea is to take an approach with Relevance Vector Machine (RVM) since it leads to sparse models and theoretically better performance is expected compared to previous proposals. In order to demonstrate the feasibility of this technique, it is important to have an application on optical telecommunications systems, where the microwave signal obtained is used to drive a Mach-Zehnder Intensity modulator as part of an external modulation scheme. At the same time the microwave signal is used to synchronize the reception stage. This one is based on monocular information. The goal of this method is to obtain the position (x; y) and orientation θ of the humanoid robot inside the field of play. The methods proposed include some digital image processing algorithms and geometric interpretation to perform a 3D monocular reconstruction, that allows to measure the relative position between the robot and some known objects (goals and beacons), and to use them to obtain the robot's absolute position, by means of a triangulation method. This approach is based in two methods: plane segmentation and local map construction. The First method introduces a fast method to extract the ground plane. The rest of the points are used to extract planes using a general plane extraction. For the general plane extraction process, is used a method that choose a random point and its neighbor in order to compute a plane; this plane is evaluated with respect to the inliers number, and the best plane is the one containing the biggest number of points.
