Il etait aussi membre de la Societe d’Emulation d’Abbeville. Les outils (haches) retrouvees par Boucher de Perthes, attestent-elles une activite humaine anterieurement au deluge ? Si oui, une des difficultes etait l’anciennete de l’homme sur terre. Une autre difficulte etait l’identification des diverses couches, celle attribuable au deluge (auquel certains tenaient encore en plein XIXe siecle) et celles attribuables a d’autres cataclysmes. Pour la conscience de l’epoque, les decouvertes posaient des problemes redoutables au plan de la nature de l’homme. L’homme est-il ne stupide ? A-t-il evolue ? Est-il apparu doue d’intelligence ? Selon Boucher de Perthes, la fabrication et l’usage d’outils supposent une intelligence et une capacite de dominer son environnement ; la pierre taillee suppose un travail, elle suppose donc un but. L’existence de types distincts de pierres taillees suppose un langage, voire une culture. Outre cette avalanche de questions, l’episode Boucher de Perthes pose la question de l’erreur, voire de la fraude scientifique des le debut des decouvertes concernant l’hominisation. Cochet insiste sur la signification des hachettes et de l’industrie lithique et il refute les soupcons de fraude ; il va dans le sens de l’existence d’une civilisation humaine de la prehistoire et il s’eloigne d’une lecture fondamentaliste de la Bible. Dans ses ecrits ulterieurs, il integrera ce type de decouverte a ses descriptions archeologiques.","PeriodicalId":432465,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin d’histoire et d’épistémologie des sciences de la vie","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116804341","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

La genetique des populations a elimine le concept de races au profit de celui de populations. L’approche genetique a permis de renforcer la theorie out of Africa situant sur ce continent le berceau des Hommes modernes, d’elaborer des scenarios de peuplement des differents continents et de mieux comprendre les mecanismes d’adaptation et de selection naturelle. Les schemas evolutifs bases sur les etudes paleoanthropologiques ont ete complexifies par l’apport de la biologie moleculaire de l’ADN avec la decouverte de l’Homme de Denisova et la mise en evidence de phenomenes d’introgression au sein de notre genome. La toute-puissance de la genetique pour expliquer la dynamique du vivant (ternie par les visions eugenistes) est fortement remise en question par l’epigenetique attestant du role important de l’environnement.
