Achieving high performance in sports is the result of many factors, both exo and endogenous. Proper nutrition is the basis of the so-called healthy lifestyle, health care and prevention of diet-related diseases. Physical activity is an extremely important component and carries a number of benefits that affect mental, physical and social well-being. Failure to provide sufficient energy, can lead to decreased performance, delayed recovery processes or loss of muscle mass. The purpose of the study was to assess the knowledge and nutritional habits of CrossFit trainees. \u0000Material and methods. 131 people were surveyed; the questionnaire was posted on the CrossFit Poland forum. The survey was voluntary and anonymous. The results were collected in a database in Microsoft Excel 2010 MS Office Package and statistically analyzed using Statistica 12. In the statistical evaluation of the relationship between characteristics, a significance level of p ≤ 0.05 was adopted. Results. In a survey of the knowledge and eating habits of CrossFit trainees, about 50% of respondents declare that they eat regularly. In addition, 50.5% state a moderate level of knowledge about healthy eating, while 33% state a high level. There is a high incidence of dietary supplement intake, accounting for 78.5%. As the frequency of training increases, the amount of supplements consumed increases. Conclusions. A significant part of the study group declares a very good or moderate level of knowledge of rational nutrition, which influences the choice of and regularity of the meals consumed in this group of Crossfit trainers.

Amniotic membranes have been shown to possess anti-inflammatory, anti-scarring, and antimicrobial properties, which can promote wound healing and tissue regeneration. They can be utilized in a variety of surgical settings, including ophthalmology, plastic surgery, and orthopedics. However, the use of amniotic membranes also poses certain limitations and risks, such as the potential for immune reactions and disease transmission. The article reviews the current literature on amniotic membrane usage in surgery and discusses the clinical implications and future research directions. In summary, the amniotic membrane represents a promising alternative to traditional surgical approaches, but its benefits and limitations must be carefully weighed and assessed in each individual case.

The purpose of this study was to compare the physical activity of women in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. The standardized Physical Activity Questionnaire for Pregnant Women (PPAQ-PL) was used to achieve the purpose of the study. Thirty women in the age range of 18-35 years (28 years±3.54) participated in the study. Analysis of the results showed that higher values of total weekly energy expenditure were obtained by the group of women in the third trimester of pregnancy (206.37 MET/h/week) compared to pregnant women in the second trimester (140.42MET/h/week). The women differed in terms of energy expenditure in activities such as housework (in women in the second trimester 49.1% of total activity, in the third trimester 56.7%), passive rest (24.1% and 14.5%), professional work (12.9% and 7.7%), sports and exercise (2.8% and 6.6%), and moving around (10.6% and 14.5%). In both women in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, a low level of activity intensity prevailed (58.08% and 55.64%). Energy expenditure on sports and exercise consistent with the recommended for the second trimester (≥28 MET/h/week) was declared by only 6% of the women surveyed, while in the third trimester the recommended energy expenditure on physical activity (≥16 MET/h/week) was fulfilled by 29% of pregnant women. There is an ongoing need to educate women about the benefits of systematic prenatal activity.

Advances in cancer diagnosis and treatment have led to significant improvements in survival rates, but many cancer treatments can cause infertility or premature ovarian failure, which can have a profound impact on the quality of life and overall well-being of cancer survivors. Oncofertility seeks to provide patients with the opportunity to preserve their reproductive potential before undergoing cancer treatment, thus ensuring that they have options for starting a family after treatment. This field encompasses a range of approaches, including fertility preservation techniques. While oncofertility is still a relatively new field, it has already made significant strides in improving the quality of life for cancer survivors. However, there are still many challenges that must be addressed, including access to oncofertility services and the development of new and more effective techniques. This paper will explore the current state of oncofertility research and highlight some of the key challenges and opportunities in this important field.

The beneficial effects of Yerba Mate on the cardiovascular system, lipid-lowering, anti-diabetic, hepatoprotective and stimulating properties are known, however, there are also reports supporting its toxicity, that the consumption of Yerba Mate may predispose to the development of cancer. The purpose of this article is to present and organize information on the correlation between drinking Yerba Mate and cancer. \u0000Review methods \u0000A review of the available literature was performed by searching the PubMed and Google Scholar databases using the following keywords: Yerba Mate and cancer, Yerba Mate. \u0000Abbreviated description of the state of knowledge \u0000Substances contained in Yerba Mate have a positive impact on the human body. They exert health-promoting effects, e.g. increasing HDL levels and enhancing the antioxidant effect. A particularly desirable effect of Yerba Mate is its modulating effect on the course of the carcinogenesis process. Current knowledge on this subject is not complete. There are no evidences that substances in Yerba Mate without other risk factors increase the risk of oesophageal cancer. The search strategy was based on following terms: "Crohn's disease", "perianal fistula", "biological treatment", and "inflammatory bowel disease". \u0000Results: In recent years, there has been intensive research into new treatment options for perianal fistulas in Crohn's disease. Infliximab remains the first-line therapy, best controlled by monitoring the drug concentration in the serum. Alternatively, other drugs such as ustekinumab and vedolizumab may be considered. The combination of biological and surgical treatment is a recognized standard of care and modern, minimally invasive techniques that preserve sphincters, such as the FiLaC™ laser procedure, are increasingly being used. A novel and very promising therapeutic approach is based on mesenchymal stem cells, which may offer hope for patients who do not improve with standard treatment. \u0000Conclusion: Perianal disease in patients with Crohn's disease poses a significant therapeutic challenge and has a substantial negative impact on the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
