Information flow as critical component to decision making may exacerbate or mitigate the impact of disruptive conditions. Such highly complex and unpredictable conditions produce a high demand for information. Extant literature was found to be critical of unidirectional and sender-oriented models in crisis communication which essentially blocks the feedback loop and paralyzes the crisis managers to roll-out responses. However, the pervasive social media has created new patterns of dynamic information exchange to empower the individuals to be engaged in a more evidence-based participatory form of crisis communication to frame decisions. This study used social media analytics to identify the decision clusters arising out of information exchange over social media under disruptive uncertainties. The Theory of Complexity by Edgar Morin was used as the epistemological foundation of the study. Crawled data was used from the Tourism Tribe Facebook fan page. Normalized degree and betweenness centrality measures were used to analyse the semantic networks. Tourism Tribe exhibited the highest degree centralities for both before and during the pandemic-driven disruptions. Four individuals (names changed for anonymity) were identified to be the most influential in decision making based on information shared. The causality between uncertainty and decision revealed a wide array of decision parameters – health precautions to alternative leisure engagement. The study provided practical implications for a number of stakeholders. The tourism service providers and product designers are likely to get deeper insights into the choice and priorities of the tourists confronting disruptive conditions and may re-strategise tourism offers. The alternative leisure and recreational platforms (OTT, gaming platforms etc.) may introduce new products and/or re-design their schemes.","PeriodicalId":43057,"journal":{"name":"NMIMS Management Review","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43059325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present goal is to understand about satisfaction level of domestic tourists on cuisine in Kolkata region which add to the research literature on the link between cuisine and tourism in the Kolkata region by drawing on the experiences of domestic visitors. Methodology – The technique is based on a questionnaire in quantitative research sent to domestic tourists/ visitors during their stay to Kolkata (Calcutta), the city of joy. Simple random sample was utilised in the study with n= 100, using a 7 (seven) point scale for convenience as population is not quantifiable because there is no statistic available on the actual number of domestic tourists/visitors that visit Kolkata for local food, which creates destination image. As the data are symmetric in nature, the compared t-test was utilised as an inferential statistical tool of parametric test to capture the satisfaction level of domestic visitors before and after consuming local food. Findings – The findings indicate the occurrence of various visitor categories based on their choice of local gastronomy. There are three categories recognised, and the visitors’ reasons for gastronomy vary depending on which section they belong to. Finally, the findings allow us to infer that visitor pleasure varies according to their attitude toward cuisine, as indicated by the three segments. Implications & Conclusion – Tourist engagement has a favourable influence on tourists’ perceptions of Kolkata. Throughout the study, tourists agreed that contact with locals gave them more information about which sights to visit and where to try traditional food. Such engagement fosters cross-cultural understanding and is crucial in the creation of a satisfying visitor experience. It contributes to the tourism stakeholders’ planning and execution in an efficient and effective way.","PeriodicalId":43057,"journal":{"name":"NMIMS Management Review","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41406168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology: This research study is explorative by nature adopting both descriptive and analytical methods. The research process involves the sampling technique. Field interview has been initiated to collect the data for the purposive sampling method. An open-ended questionnaire has been prepared for the random sampling to obtain the data from the respondents. Findings: The research study explores the impact of local residents’ participation in endogenous tourism development projects. For this reason, one way ANOVA has been conducted that reveal a value of less than 0.05 which signifies local residents’ participation impacts on the tourism planning and implementation. Practical Implications: The participation has increased the positive attitude among the residents resulting in the sustainable approach towards endogenous tourism development. Local residents’ participation in the implementation of endogenous tourism projects has enhanced their quality of life in terms of socio-economic and cultural development. Originality: The primary purpose of the endogenous tourism project in Pipli and Raghurajpur village of Odisha is the inclusive development through active resident participation and involvement. Endogenous tourism development project has also intensified the infrastructure development of the region, hence tourism policymakers and planners should think of deriving the maximum benefits by encouraging residents to a greater extent.","PeriodicalId":43057,"journal":{"name":"NMIMS Management Review","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44314921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the current study aims at investigating the influence of psychological (perceived consumer effectiveness — PCE) and contextual factors (environmental knowledge — EK, environmental consciousness — EC, and willingness to pay more — WtP) on green hotel stay (GHS). Recent studies suggested that PCE, EK and WtP have a positive and significant influence on green consumer behaviour. Methodology: The data was collected from 238 respondents through MTurk. The proposed model was statistically tested using CB-SEM and the Process Macro. The study found PCE, WtP, and EK to be positively and significantly influencing GHS. Findings: The key findings of current study demonstrate: I. Consumers in emerging nations are also WtP for green hotels; II. Results of moderation analysis reveal that EC has a positive moderating effect on all the three proposed associations, such as high level of EC increases the predictive power of PCE, WtP, and EK; and III. Among all, EK appeared as a major predictor of GHS indicating that EK among consumers is high and the hospitality marketers can utilize this opportunity to increase the GHS. Originality: The novelty of the current study is to investigate the moderating role of EC on the relationship of GHS with EK, PCE, and WtP. Six hypotheses were formulated.","PeriodicalId":43057,"journal":{"name":"NMIMS Management Review","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71155961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But in today’s time product differentiation exclusively on basis of product attributes is not going to help companies in long run. Subsequently, marketers are inventing different communication strategies to help brands stand out (La Ferle et al., 2013). Cause related marketing has become a new buzz word in the world of marketing communication techniques. Purpose: The main purpose of this paper is to find impact of Cause Related Marketing (CRM) campaigns on consumer attitude and further the study also provides an analysis of comparative impact of cause related marketing and sales promotion on consumer attitude. Methodology: For the collection of primary data, structured questionnaires were distributed among respondents. A total of 300 respondents were initially contacted, out of which total of 270 responded back. The comparative analysis was done on the basis of Wilcoxon signed rank test. Findings: The result of the study shows that the consumer has more positive attitude towards cause related marketing as compare to the sales promotion strategy. Implications: From the analysis, it is observed that a company can gain more consumer attention if much emphasize can be given in designing cause related marketing strategy, this will provide an opportunity to company to become a socially responsible citizen.","PeriodicalId":43057,"journal":{"name":"NMIMS Management Review","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47903387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design/methodology/approach: The current work approach to conducting a review of all relevant research issues around corporate governance. Researchers have developed various indices to measure Corporate Governance by using proxies like Board size, number of independent directors, the attendance record of board members, etc. Corporate governance practices are an important tool for reducing agency costs and an effective board, a higher proportion of independent directors, a vigilant audit committee, etc. Findings: The studies have proved that corporate governance practices are more developed and associated with developed economic markets as compared to developing economies. Similarly, studies have evidenced that Corporate Governance systems and architectures are more observed in large firms whereas it is poor in small firms. Also, we highlight research work that clearly proves that Corporate Governance is better in professionally managed companies as compared to family own businesses. The current work also highlights the uniqueness of corporate governance in the banking sector. Originality: The study is quite different from the other studies done related to Corporate Governance in the market as it is an overall summary to compare the level of Corporate Governance and its impact on the market performance by comparing the corporate governance in developed and developing economies, size of the firm, ownership structure and the special case for the banking sector. Practical Implications: The work sends a very strong message to the markets (both the AMCs as well as the retail investor community) to watch out for corporate governance practices while making investment choices or decisions. Firms with a poor track record of corporate governance can be avoided while creating a portfolio and regulators need to keep a strict vigil on such firms.","PeriodicalId":43057,"journal":{"name":"NMIMS Management Review","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41339560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the major factors that will make GST tax law in India successful if there is a high compliance rate towards the filing of returns under the GST act by the businesses. Using secondary data published by the government of India the authors in this paper tries to study the business taxpayers’ level of Compliance towards the GST in India since its rollout. The finding of this research paper will help the policymakers to understand the compliance pattern of the businesses towards GST and will allow them to take the appropriate course of action in near future.","PeriodicalId":43057,"journal":{"name":"NMIMS Management Review","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49326477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this paper is to examine how the organizational support mechanisms impact employee work-related attitudes in the context of remote working. As people are anxious about both lives and livelihood during this crisis, the paper also aims to analyze how anxiety impacts the relationship of employee engagement with job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Methodology: For this purpose, responses were collected between March 25 and April 30, 2020 from a heterogeneous sample of employees (N=181) working remotely during the pandemic. Employees’ perspectives on work-related attitudes and organizational support mechanisms throughout lockdown in India were captured. Structural Equation Modeling was used to analyze the data. Findings: This study reported findings in two areas: how organizational support mechanisms (effective structure, supportive leadership, caring culture and technology) impact employees’ work-related attitudes in the context of remote working during the pandemic; and how anxiety due to the crisis impacts the relationship of employee engagement with job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Practical Implications: An immediate managerial implication of the findings suggest that it is not just technological infrastructure that facilitates remote working during a pandemic like Covid-19 but other organizational support mechanisms also have a significant impact on employee engagement. Also, there is a need for managers to create a caring, supportive, and open culture to reduce employee anxiety Originality: The article makes two main contributions. First, this study suggests and tests a model for boosting employee engagement leading to job satisfaction and organizational commitment for remote working in times of a pandemic. Second, the study provides suggestions for managers to apply the theoretical model.","PeriodicalId":43057,"journal":{"name":"NMIMS Management Review","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47974238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
