These radar systems are increasingly exploiting active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology to dynamically interleaved functions. However, the increasing complexity and adaptive nature of MFR radar makes it very difficult to specify their performance in a way which can both deliver the required capability and which can be verified in a cost-effective manner. Addressing the challenges in this area will benefit via better understood requirements which can be more easily interpreted. After definition of FoM (Figures of Merit) for phased array radar operation and performance, we have computed them on benchmark test scenarios of varying complexity. Kauranne","doi":"10.23919/IRS.2017.8008186","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.23919/IRS.2017.8008186","url":null,"abstract":"Appearance of tragedies like the lost flight MH370 should be eliminated or reduced and in this paper a technique based on the Doppler shift of radio sources of opportunity is suggested as an alternative technique of tracking aircraft. Such systems are based on simultaneous analysis of the Doppler shift caused by aircraft moving with respect to multiple radio signal sources and network of receivers. One of the aspects of the technique is extraction of Doppler signatures from within spectrogram, for which a robust technique was developed and tested with a variety of different weather and terrain conditions and antenna configurations. The system was able to trace 73% of observed Doppler signatures. Among testing sessions one particular situation in which aircraft is beyond the visible horizon or over-thehorizon (OTH) was analysed with respect to capability of aircraft tracking with the transmitting-receiving network. Such radar system is designed as combination of peer to peer and server side protocols for exchanging information on Doppler shift and aircraft location, respectively. The multistatic configuration of the radar system is built out of three receiving and three transmitting stations located in south east part of Finland and adjoined part of Russian Federation. The efficiency and precision of the tracking system was estimated to OTH visibility and equaled 420km and 1500m, respectively. The multi-band transceivers are equipped with a frequency multiplier to generate the 61- and 122-GHz carrier signals from a single 30.5-GHz LO signal and can be cascaded to build a MIMO radar system with 2 different frequency bands. The implemented scalable sensor system is suitable for various radar and communication applications by using the same transceiver chips with integrated binary phase-shift keying modulators and I/Q receiver. The Frequency non-linearities of FMCW SAR seriously deteriorate its range resolution. To overcome this problem and integrate the non-linearity correction method into the imaging algorithm, in this paper, we propose a non-linear range-Doppler algorithm for FMCW SAR. For practical application, the non-linearity error is truncated by neglecting the high-order terms, and the feasibility of this approximation is demonstrated. The Doppler shift induced by the continuous motion is also considered in the proposed algorithm. First of all, WSA parameters such as waveguide dimensions, slot length, slot width, slot displacement and other parameters of the antenna are calculated by using analytic techniques for 25 GHz. After, in order to suppress side lobe level Taylor and Chebyshev coefficients are determined in detailed and then we calculate slot displacements for each slot. The antennas are simulated according to Taylor and Chebyshev coefficient to obtain low side lobes and also reach effective result, which have high efficiency, high gain and small size, for 25 GHz. Sixteen and thirty-six slots are used to obtain desired results like high gain and narrow beam width at the H-plane. According to simulation results, the antennas which have sixteen and thirty-six slots presents 15.9 and 19.3 dBi realized gains, −17.2 and −16.1 dB side lobe levels (SLL), 9.6 and 4.1 deg. half power beam widths at 25 GHz, respectively. The most significant part of this paper is that change of antenna polarization. Normally longitudinal slots have linear polarization and to obtain circular polarization inclined or cross slot are used. However, these slot structure require complex analytic approach and optimization of the structure takes a lot of time. A combination of two recursive estimators (dual estimators) is considered for the estimation of the mean and standard deviation of the log-normal interference. Compared with the estimation method based on digital exponential filtering technique, the dual estimators converge faster while giving smaller steady state errors. The method is based upon a modified discrete multi-dimensional chaotic map with two delays. Various BPR-sequences generated according to the method suggested has been analyzed using computer simulation. Spectrums of BPR-sequences periods generated with the help of suggested algorithm for the concrete values of delays have been found. Correlation characteristics of BPR-sequences generated have been studied and tested. It has been shown that for the appropriate choice of initial conditions and delays the suggested algorithm generates BPR-sequences having their correlation characteristics close enough tothose of M-sequences.
