Due to the high requirements in modern communication systems, the new topologies and the optimized design of each basic component must be a main issue to investigate. The piezoelectric resonators are passive devices that can replace some active components in oscillators and active filters. This work presents a novel model for the resonance frequency of any type of piezoelectric resonator. As a particular case, we use this in a Lamb Wave Resonator (LWR) with aluminum electrodes and Nitride Aluminum (AlN) as the piezoelectric layer. The experimental validation of the model was conducted using an LWR designed and fabricated at the INAOE’s facilities. The measured S parameters delivered a resonance frequency of 541 MHz; and this result was compared to that predicted by the proposed model, showing a relative error of 5.4%, which is much lower than the 18.8% obtained by using the standard design methodology.","PeriodicalId":429000,"journal":{"name":"Latin American Symposium on Circuits and Systems","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122672555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the discussed structures, part of the generator has as function the generation of a high biasing voltage, and another part, a capacitive divider where one of the capacitors is variable, is used as the actual generator. It feeds a DC/DC converter that generates the useful output energy at low voltage. The structures add flexibility in the design over previously proposed generators based on Bennet's doubler, and allow greater output power.","PeriodicalId":429000,"journal":{"name":"Latin American Symposium on Circuits and Systems","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124956924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reviewing the literature, we easily recognize that several authors use different terminologies for a single concept or a single terminology for different concepts. This generates confusion and blocks fair comparisons between systems. In this paper, we present an overview of Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) with focus on the applications. Moreover, we propose a detailed taxonomy that could help to disambiguate the confusion regarding current WBAN terminology.","PeriodicalId":429000,"journal":{"name":"Latin American Symposium on Circuits and Systems","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115440212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed filter uses a low-complexity passband droop compensator and the Chebyshev sharpening technique, both recently introduced in literature, to improve the magnitude response. In this way this method improves the worst-case aliasing rejection and simultaneously decreases the passband deviation of traditional comb decimation filters. It is shown that the proposed filter exhibits better characteristics than the traditional CIC filter and other recent methods from literature.","PeriodicalId":429000,"journal":{"name":"Latin American Symposium on Circuits and Systems","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126470363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed structure exhibits a decreased passband droop, as well as increased attenuations in the folding bands compared with the power and area efficient structures recently proposed in the literature. This is achieved by introducing a simple corrector filter at second CIC (Cascaded-Integrator-Comb) stage, such that it works at the rate, which is less than the high input rate by half of the decimation factor. The corrector filters depend only on the number of the cascaded equivalent combs. In that way the same corrector can be used for the comb decimator with different decimation factors but with the equal number of the cascaded combs. The comparison with the power and area efficient comb-based structures from literature, and the VHDL implementation, confirm the efficiency of the proposed structure.","PeriodicalId":429000,"journal":{"name":"Latin American Symposium on Circuits and Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129550802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we show that a recent method suitable to approximate functions with symmetric impulse response, and other one to obtain pulses with finite duration, actually refers to the same function.
