As LEDs are DC devices, a pulse width modulation (PWM) may be effectively used; it enables variations of LEDs current and luminous characteristics within a wide range. The method of brightness control with PWM for LED sources featuring a moderate inertia generates an enormous pulsation of luminous flux imperceptible to humans but adversely affecting human health. Given a low inertia of LED sources becomes evident, inertial properties of human vision must be considered. When designing a safe lighting system, processes of fast and slow adaptation at perception of flickering light should be taken into account. For that purpose, a mathematical model complying with basic laws of physiological optics and reflecting vision perception of flashing light was developed. At the same time, the problem of power loss minimization within the rated period taking into account an appropriate selection of automatic regulator's transformation ratio is solved. The paper proposes an algorithm for power loss minimization under average load conditions of network operation. The equivalent T-shaped network design is used. Voltage level of transformer substations is controlled by calculating the maximum and minimum load limits. Pipelines diagnostics is based on the magnetic field changes study in the pipe damage areas. This method allows fault detecting from the earth's surface without resorting to expensive procedures of pipes excavation. Having the aim to obtain reliable information about the magnetic field condition, we propose a modular wavelet analysis by using polyphase filters with finite impulse response. Nowadays, effective use of resources and improvement of electricity production is a very important issue, thus, research studying the use of smart grid features are topical. The first paper part deals with simulation of the population of thermostatically controlled loads. The proposed method is quite convenient and effective. It allows us working with a large group of electrical heaters. The second part of the paper contains an example of the task which can be worked out. Parameters of measurement errors when using the line transducers of different class index numbers have been estimated. One of the methods is traditional method of modal analysis investigating behavior of the eigenvalues. Another one is a new sub-Gramians method that was worked out in Institute of Control Sciences (ICS) RAS. The method is based on the application of the so-called sub-Gramians derivable from solving the Lyapunov equations. The comparison of methods was made using the MATLAB software for two test systems: 1) a well-known model of transmission system proposed by P. The text reveals the importance and urgency of improving the accuracy of the simulation of power consumption. The results of the analysis of the laws of distribution of electric power consumption of railway transport objects are presented. The study is based on samples of various railway subdivisions in operation. Process and climatic factors are selected as influences. The results of comparison of the simulation of electric power consumption by different methods are presented. The analysis conducted is of influence of unmeasured and measured (process mode parameters) feature variables, such as catalyst activity, feed data on the model parameters is conducted. It is shown that at the change of the unmeasured feature variable the situation models with linear structure can be adjusted by means of absolute polynomial term change for oil refining and petrochemistry processes. The problem is solved by forecast of electric and mechanical diagnostic indicators of the electric drive and implementation of predictive control activities related to maintenance and repair based on actual technical conditions. Forecasting drive parameters is enabled with a neural network model. A vibration table is used as a source of vibration of different frequencies. Asynchronous motors are attached to the vibrating table from below. These motors are frequency-controlled and have eccentric disks on the shafts. Due to imbalance, the motors create a vibration that is transmitted to the upper table through the samples of the damping devices being examined. The upper table is equipped with the measuring equipment. Additional sources of vibration are the harmonic components of the voltage generated by power electronic converters at the terminals of the stators of two asynchronous motors. Modeling allows obtaining quantitative characteristics of the studied devices damping in wide ranges of material properties, geometric parameters and control algorithms. The mathematical model of a mechanical system is based on the Lagrange equations and electromechanical energy conversion by electric motors.
