The eight bands are achieved by combining two frequency tuning concepts studied in our previous works. The complete tuning circuitry, consisting of three RF PIN diode switches and four passive components, is implemented without increasing the overall volume of the antenna. The antenna covers the 750-1080 MHz band with 25% and the 1560-2270 MHz band with 50% total efficiency margins.","PeriodicalId":428426,"journal":{"name":"2008 Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126123615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Simulations performed using FEKO and CST microwave studio (CST MWS) are found to be in good agreement with internal field measurements acquired using a low disturbance automated probe positioner at 870 MHz. Results show vehicle furnishings change field distribution within the cavity and should be included for electromagnetic modelling and field exposure assessments. The study enhances understanding of complex field behavior within a vehicle. The results (e.g. E-field hotspots) can be used to optimize placement locations of on-board transmitters and introduce field mitigation techniques in appropriate locations if required.","PeriodicalId":428426,"journal":{"name":"2008 Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128603048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results of the performed experiment as well as those of several other authors, are compared with COST231 model prediction and postulates are presented for improved coverage estimation in buildings with LOS illumination-an empirical equation for loss in the externally illuminated wall at perpendicular penetration is presented, heterogeneous building surface is fictitiously divided into multiple segments, and paths through NLOS surfaces are also considered for reception points located deep inside the building. The jewellery items were modelled as conducting objects with the typical commercial sizes available. Rings were placed on different fingers in a computer model for comparison purposes. The amount of energy absorbed in the head/hand and the effect brought about by the jewellery are shown to vary for different antennas. In this study, a monopole and a PIFA antenna have been employed. The results obtained indicated that: (i) by using a monopole antenna, the peak and average 1 g SAR in the head are slightly decreased by the introduction of the ring and bangle, (ii) by using a PIFA, the peak and average 1 g SAR in the head are increase by more than 12% and 11% respectively by the metallic rings.","PeriodicalId":428426,"journal":{"name":"2008 Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130371418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reconstruct the image, a holographic processing algorithm is applied and a focused image is obtained. The system is active and works at a single frequency, 92.5 GHz. This model is expressed with respect to both radial and azimuth coordinates, and is physically motivated by creeping wave propagation around smooth convex surfaces, such as the human body. Consequently, it maintains the exponential decay path loss trend with respect to the body orientation angle. Furthermore, it is shown that the same model can be used for RMS delay spread prediction, by simply applying the appropriate parameters resulting from time dispersion analysis. Therefore, delay spread results are presented for threshold values of 10 and 20 dB within the peak of each power delay profile. Following the presented modeling method model parameters can be used as criterion for characterization of respective dense multipath channels.","PeriodicalId":428426,"journal":{"name":"2008 Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference","volume":"432 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132310128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is designed to work on a thin substrate (h = 0.787 mm) with a low dielectric constant (epsivr = 2.2) operating at two frequencies (1.8 and 2.4 GHz). Two metal stubs are introduced in the middle of the bow-tie slot in order to achieve a wider impedance bandwidth over the conventional CPW-fed bow-tie slot antenna. The antenna is fabricated and tested in the antenna measurement facility of UCL and experimental far-field results are presented showing low cross-polarisation levels. The bow-tie slot antenna can obtain at least 55% bandwidth.","PeriodicalId":428426,"journal":{"name":"2008 Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference","volume":"196 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132656779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
