The data sources used in this study was novel Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll. In analysing the data, the writer used descriptive qualitative method through psychology approach. Data were obtained by using the techniques of reading, noting, and analysing. Meanwhile in classifying the data, the writer used Adler’s Individual Psychology theory. The research reveal that the novel contained personalities of easily influenced, a liar, patient, innocent, obsession, a dreamer, forgiving, lack of confidence, loyal, jealousy, generous, trendy, emotional, and brave. While data that included factors, inferiority are, social interest, fictional final goal. This research is expected to be a reference for future researchers. The data source used in this research is the novel Gone Girl. In analyzing the data, the researcher applied qualitative descriptive method through a sociological approach. The data were obtained by reading, identifying, note-taking, and quoting techniques. The analysis applied the social context by Ian Watt's theory. The results of this research showed the factors and causes of household problems in the novel Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn is as a reflection of society. Internal factors were factors that came from each partner, how to resolve the conflicts, communicate, and sexual relations, while external factors were factors that from outside the partner such as rude actions against partners, rude words, the presence of other people in household relationships, problems about children, and parental intervention. The data were analyzed and transcribed into English. The sources of the data were the Rambu solo text and the explanation from the village leader who understands well the Tominaa language. The study applied the qualitative descriptive method. The study reveal that there were 20 data from Rambu solo text which told about the life journey history of the death peolple before she/he burying. The data were transcribed based on the information from informants but it was difficult to understand because some words have two meaning and only appears in particular time. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with the sample of native speakers of Torajanese in Pangala’ Village, North Toraja Regency. The method used in this research is contrastive method proposed by Tarigan. Then, for analyzed the types and forms of interrogative sentence the writer used the theory proposed by Quirk. The results of this research indicated that there were dominant differences in terms of sentence structure between Torajanese and English. The first types is Yes/No question, there are 8 forms of Interrogative sentences in Torajanese. Then, for the second types there are 7 forms of Wh-question. In the third types namely Alternative question there are 3 forms. Moreover, the differences from both languages were in placing the question word, in English it always begins with an Auxiliary verb or To Be and Wh-word. The method used of this research is descriptive method with psychological approach, the writer understand the novel reading repeatedly, quoting and qualified the data who related with the research. The result of study showed that the main character had 3 kinds of anxiety and caused by environment, threat, frustration, gender, and fear. Rachel also had a symptoms of depression and caused by infertility, infidelity and divorced, loss a job and alcohol. To overcome her anxiety and depression Rachel used 3 kinds of defense mechanism such as repression, displacement, and rationalization. Sources of the data for the Tabulahan dialect and Mamuju language were obtained directly from the informants as native speakers of the Tabulahan and Mamuju languages. Meanwhile, the Scouse dialect and English data as a comparison were obtained from previous research conducted by Honeybone (2007) and Baranova (2015). The writer used a qualitative method through a dialectological approach and contrastive analysis. The results of this study show that there are similarities and differences. Phonologically, similarities occur in the features of Vocal Change and Lenition. The difference occurs in the features of the TH-stopping and the category of Rhotic and non-Rhotic which the Tabulahan Dialect does not have this feature but is found in the Scouse Dialect in English. Lexically, both dialects have variations in word classes such as nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives. The data source of the study is the novels In H.G Well’s The War of The World. In analyzing the data, the researcher used qualitative descriptive method and Maxim’s theory. Data were obtained by using the techniques of reading and analyzing. In this study, researcher found 19 data using 6 types of leech theory, namely tact maxim, modesty maxim, approbation maxim, agreement maxim, sympathy maxim, and generosity maxim. In using tact maxim the characters express it in a sincere way, in using modesty Maxim the characters used it by reducing self-praise, in using approbation maxim characters use it in a polite way of praising someone. The data source used in this research is the poem Howl. In analyzing the data, the writer used a qualitative descriptive research method through a sociological approach. The data were obtained by using reading, collecting, and analyzing techniques and to classify the types of rebellion principle in the poem by Jhon Lewis Gillin and Jhon Philip Gillin’s theory. The result of this research were 26 data that contain types of rebellion principle where 7 data of assimilation, 2 data of accommodation, 2 data of acculturation, 8 data of contravention, 4 data of competition and 3 data of conflict. There are 6 types with 26 data and an explanation of rebellion portrayed in this research poem, but the types and portrayed that are more prominent are negative because the researcher finds a lot of war, capitalism, consumerism, deceit, torture, and murder physically and mentally.
