The results show the weight of a sociolinguistic factor, namely gender bias, which causes speakers to unconsciously transgress the biases imposed by the two semantic types of verb (subject bias and object bias). The participants use all the mechanisms at their disposal to associate a surname with a male rather than a female individual. This shows the existence of a real bias for the masculine in the use of different structures in a language, and more generally, the link that exists between language and social prejudice. As our study replicates the same results for French as those observed for English, we can put forward the hypothesis that this bias is not specific to one language, but rather a general trend that manifests itself across languages. It shows the importance of an empirical approach (experiments and corpus investigation) for the study of syntactic alternations, such us the null pronominal subject alternation in prodrop Romance languages, which cannot be described by the classical categorical syntactic constraints (cf. grammatical vs. agrammatical dychotomy), but rather by soft constraints, that reflect the preferences of the speakers for one structure or the other. This research allows us to observe (micro)variations within prodrop Romance languages. The evolution of the female act of reading translates the evolution of the practices which found the emancipation of a whole social category, but also the evolution of the relationship of a person to herself, therefore the access of the individual to his interiority through the paradoxical discovery of otherness. This article will study the different stages of the transformation of the female reading gesture over the centuries, with the aim of showing how the historical-cultural reorganization – represented by the two waves of female literacy and the important social movements of the 18th century – has fundamentally influenced the reading practices and the reception activity. In his hybrid, both poetic and dramatic apparatus, but also in his performances or the context of his personal art exhibitions, Novarina develops a compound symbolic dialogue between text and image, thereby undermining the traditional frontiers between different semiotic systems. Furthermore, this inter-semiotic, even intermedial nature of the novarinian oeuvre is an obvious technical characteristic of the latest book of Novarina, La Clef des langues. In this article, we aim to analyze the strategies and the symbolic takes of what Novarina understands as a poetic débordement, namely an effort to break all thematical and practical limitations in the process of artistic creation. {"title":"Sur l’iconologie warburgienne et la conversion à soi de Marie-Madeleine","authors":"Adnana Giroud","doi":"10.31178/rcsdllf.11.1","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.31178/rcsdllf.11.1","url":null,"abstract":"In this study, we propose to analyze the migratory character of ideas evoked by Arthur Lovejoy and the evolution of the image of Mary Magdalene in the light of two fundamental theories of intellectual history: the Warburgian iconology and the concept of “care of self” theorized by Michel Foucault in The History of Sexuality. Although these two notions are different by the nature of their horizon of study, they are similar by the importance given to historical heritage in the redefinition of a cultural identity (individual or collective) and by the anthropological exhumation of ancient references which survive and are transmitted in social memory, thus allowing the reinterpretation of certain motifs and symbols of the Christian religion. Inseparable from the image of the Greek goddess Aphrodite of which she is the Christian counterpart, and also the concrete representation bringing together all the ancient attributes unearthed along a vast iconographic history, Mary Magdalene goes beyond “primary opacity to oneself” which characterized her before the encounter with Jesus to respond to the double structure of questioning which governs its emergence.
