Due to the current trend towards the use of environmentally-friendly control measures: Including pheromone traps. Experiments were carried out in date palm farm at Abo Nagi El-Kassasein district, Ismailia Governorate, Egypt during one season (2017/2018). Eight trap colors were tested for attraction to the red palm weevil .Adding colors (red, blue and yellow, green, orange, violet, black and white). The black traps color was the best color to attract RPW .The obtained results obviously indicated that the numbers of captured adults increased highly significantly in traps black color which representing 16.26 % of the total catch than other colors; red represented 15.8 %; blue which represented 14.42 %; green which represented 13.41% ;orange which represented 12.15 %; violet which represented 10.81%; yellow which represented 9.5 % and white represented 7.63 % .Accordingly, it is recommended to use black pheromone trap. Males captures in all color traps registered 2308 while females’ captures reached 3112, with a sex ratio of 1: 1.35. There was temporal variation in number of R. ferrugineus per trap per month during the trapping period. Population attained highly peak in November for all trap colors, all traps captured more in April, May and November (591,733 and 828, respectively). Generally, to achieve more capturing effectiveness of aggregation pheromone traps in controlling red palm weevil, it is necessary to use trap colors black (holes and funnel without cover) and ground height.","PeriodicalId":426649,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian International Journal of Palms","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125217860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The selected palms received three sprays at the first of March, May and July. Using urea at 1 % and / or vitamins (C & B complex) at 500 ppm was very effective in promoting growth aspects, palm nutritional status, yield and quality of fruits relative to the control. Using urea at 1 % alone was preferable than using vitamin C and/or B complex in enhancing all the parameters. Combined application of urea with these vitamins was substantially superior than using urea or vitamins singly. Three sprays of a mixture of urea at 1% besides vitamins C + B 1 + B 2 +B 6 +B 12 each at 500 ppm was responsible for improving yield and fruit quality of Bartemuda date palms. Nattrassia mangiferaeis a fungal pathogen causing sooty canker disease on date palm which is an important disease of date palm In the Northern State of the Sudan causing severe damage of off-shoots, date palm trees and reduction in yield. In present study, the pathogenic fungus was isolated from infected plant parts and identified based on morphological and cultural characters as Nattrassia mangiferae .The in vitro efficacy of different plant extracts Neem ( Azadirachta indica ), Mint ( Menthaspicata ), Ryhan ( Ocimum basilicum ), and Maharab ( Cymbopogon schoenanthus Poximus ).were tested to control sooty canker pathogen. Different concentrations 5, 10, 15 and 20% of plant extracts were tested for their effect on the inhibition of mycialial germination of the fungus. All the plant extracts showed significant inhibition of fungal mycelial growth of Nattrassia mangiferae. Among the different conc. extracts, complete inhibition of fungal mycelial growth was exhibited at 20% of Ocimum basilicum which was found the most effective followed by Mint ( Menthaspicata ) with only retardation of mycelial growth while, Neem ( Azadirachta indica ), and Maharab ( Cymbopogon schoenanthus Poximus was the least effective. Four chemical fungicides namely, Tilt, Benlate, Bayfidan, and Bayliton, at different conc. (10 ppm, 20 ppm, 30 ppm, 40 ppm and 50 ppm) were also used for their effect on the mycialial germination of Nattrassia mangiferae , all of them inhibited the germination the most effective one was Tilt at 30-50 ppm, followed by Benlate while Bayleton and Bayfidan at high concentration 50 ppm inhibited the growth of the fungus. Application of plant extract which are easily available for controlling plant diseases which are non-pollutive, cost effective nonhazardous and do not disturb ecological balance. The effect of Bacillus subtilis (BSM1), B. megaterium (BMM5), B. cereus (BCM8), Trichoderma viride (TVM2), T. harzianum (THM4) as bioagents against root rot/ wilt disease complex of date palm offshoots under natural infection in nursery cultivated in two location (El-Kharga and El-Dakhla) were studied. Five different date palm types were chosen to evaluate which male could be recommended to use as a pollinator for Barhee date palm cv. Four male types namely Fard, Dairy, Ghanamy, Sabad produced from tissue culture and the fifth male was Sewi satellite seedling which grown in farm (uses male as local pollinator) all males were grown in Egypt. Number of spathe/ palm; spathe weight, length & width; pollen tube growth; average of strand length as well as pollen grains germination % were determined for each male. Moreover, pollen grains from each male palm types were used as a pollinator to evaluate their effect on fruit set and fruit quality of cv. Barhee date palm. Data showed that both Sabad and Ghanamy male types were superior in their morphological characters as compared with other male type which showed the lowest values of morphological characters. On the other hand, there were great differences in pollen grains tube growth. Moreover, the results clearly indicated that Ghanamy and Dairy pollen grains recorded the highest fruit set percentage. While Fard produced the highest fruit weight (g) length, diameter, flesh weight, flesh % and bunch weight (kg). Data also revealed that dates that were picked from bunches pollinated with Dairy and Fard pollen had the highest total soluble solids (T.S.S.) value, total sugar, reducing and non-reducing sugar.","PeriodicalId":426649,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian International Journal of Palms","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122950712","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
