Reflection spectra of pure explosives were measured in reflection configuration by means of TDS in the range 0.3-2.5THz. We also analyzed influence of the surface roughness on reflectance and phase spectra of RDX-plastic based explosives. Next, we present a thermal phantom of human body working in THz range, which was developed for testing of THz cameras. We demonstrate the possibility of improvement of the quality of the image captured by a commercially available passive THz camera.","PeriodicalId":425104,"journal":{"name":"2012 19th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar & Wireless Communications","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123873487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main aim of the study is to obtain desired radiation characteristics for air and coastal surveillance radars such as, pencil beam, suppressed side lobes, electronic beam scanning and cosecant-squared pattern shapes. The analytical regularization method is used a fast and accurate way to solve the problem of E-polarized wave diffraction by perfectly electrical conductive (PEC) waveguide array combined with a modified reflector for basic stage of antenna design process. The numerical procedure is initially verified by the analytical methods and the calculated results are presented for the proposed designs.","PeriodicalId":425104,"journal":{"name":"2012 19th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar & Wireless Communications","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127779722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A miniaturized printed monopole antenna with metallic grid is proposed for the small ISN. The binary particle swarm optimization (PSO) is employed to find the optimized configuration of the metallic grids with the specified bandwidth and antenna efficiency. Comparisons of the simulated optimized antenna and the corresponding fabricated antennas are also studied. Initially, the SRR is analyzed regarding possibilities for optimization of quality factor Q. Beside this, the tuning potential of SRRs is explained. Therefore, an RF MEMS varactor is introduced together with an examination of its potential coupling methods to the SRR. Furthermore, the incorporation of the functionalities filter and balanced-to-unbalanced transformer (Balun) using one SRR is shown. The novel beamformer system rapidly adapts to the mission and operational/environmental scenario allowing agile control of the radio frequency antenna and the optical antenna. PAA beam steering control is provided with full capability and a diverse range of antenna frontends operating at various frequencies in the electromagnetic spectrum. Both transmission and reception modes are possible for the joint optical-radio frequency system in a compact optical module. This paper concentrates on the basic proposed module controls concept, architecture, and its proof of concept experimental demonstration. Groundwork is laid to indicate technical concept feasibility that can lead to a plan for development and prototyping. In the concept, it is assumed that relation between positions of tuning elements and filter scattering characteristic can be modeled by the sum of polynomial functions. Each polynomial function only depends on the value of one tuning element. A coarse set of filter characteristics and tuning element positions is used in building the approximator which models this relation. This set is collected by detuning only one tuning element from its proper position at a time, while other elements remain in their proper positions. The presented numerical and physical experiments verified our approach.","PeriodicalId":425104,"journal":{"name":"2012 19th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar & Wireless Communications","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116971654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The antenna is analyzed in frequency range 1-14 GHz. The simulations are carried out using four different meshes: two generated by commercial application (Ansoft Desinger®), and two by a custom mesher (CGSM). For each mesh generator, 10 or 15 cells per wavelength are used. The following parameters are compared: input impedance, return loss, and peak accepted gain. Moreover, co- and cross-polarization radiation patterns at two different frequencies are presented. The results obtained using different meshes are found to be very similar. Yet, when custom-generated meshes are used, significant reduction in the number of unknowns (up to 67%) and in the simulation time (up to 71%) is observed. The conclusion is that the proposed mesher is more efficient than the mesh generator of Desinger® when used for the analysis of such an antenna and, most likely, similar circuits.","PeriodicalId":425104,"journal":{"name":"2012 19th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar & Wireless Communications","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123224282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
