A multicast communication tends to flood the network with a large number of flows that can overload some nodes and unload others. This imbalance in the load distribution weakens network performance and could produce bottlenecks around overloaded nodes. We propose in this article an approach based on a combination of a flow approach and a multi-agent optimization to resolve the load balancing issue of multicast communication. We use ordered weighted average (OWA), a multi-criteria optimization method, to balance the degree of the nodes, ensuring a balanced load distribution across the network. The experiments conducted on a series of networks show that our approach provides a better equitable load assignment.","PeriodicalId":42414,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Decision Support System Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81777290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, this article converts original data into a fuzzy interval number (FIN). Second, it proves the F that denotes the collection of FINs is a lattice. Finally, it introduces a novel metric distance on the lattice F. The contrast experiments about FINK-means, k-means, and FCM algorithm are carried out on two simulated datasets and four public datasets. The results show that the FINK-means algorithm has better clustering performance on three evaluation indexes including the purity, loss cost, and silhouette coefficient. FINK-means is applied to the task of region division of pork market in China based on the daily data of pork price for different provinces of China from August 9, 2017 to August 9, 2018. The results show that regions of pork market in China was divided into five categories, namely very low, low, medium, high, and very high. Every category has been discussed as well. At last, an additional experiment about region division in Canada was carried out to prove the efficiency of FINK-means further.","PeriodicalId":42414,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Decision Support System Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84020457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, individuals are addicted to mobiles and cannot think of living without using them. Conversely, these mobiles become obsolete due to certain shortcomings and are eventually replaced with new ones and thus create e-waste, which are alarmed as threat to the society. In this work, the authors describe mobiles and e-waste in a closed loop structure for supporting green issues. The work has rooted generalized interval-valued trapezoidal fuzzy numbers (GIVTFNs) with a degree of similarity measure approach to model the rationale and to furnish decision results. The authors developed a decision support system to prevent e-waste by defining significant inadequacy liable for the larger alteration of working mobiles. The present study demonstrates the technical model under an Indian context to verify its applicability, but it can be used it under any regional or worldwide scenario.","PeriodicalId":42414,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Decision Support System Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78147788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Having an extensive coastline and thousands of islands, the rise of the touristic industry is significant. The recent economic crisis as well as the increased infrastructure construction costs on the islands, created the urge to develop alternative and innovative transport systems. The seaplane, a modern, eco-friendly mode, allows effortless and quick connection between ports and airports from all over the country and distant coastal areas and islands. Seaplanes can be used by both residents and visitors or/and carry shipments. The research presented herein focuses on the development of a methodological framework for the evaluation of different areas for water aerodrome allocation, initially among different islands. Multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA) was selected among the large spectrum of existing evaluation methods, because it was considered to be the most suitable approach as it gives the opportunity to use diverse criteria, both quantitative and qualitative. Significant criteria include the distance between the origin waterdrome location and protected natural areas, wave and wind data of each area, the operational cost of seaplanes and the number of passenger arrivals and departures. Weights are accorded to the criteria based on experts' opinion and applying goal programming approach. The evaluation of the alternatives takes place with the aid of the PROMETHEE method. The suggested approach is then implemented through a case study; the investigation of the potential connection of Thessaloniki, the second-largest city in Greece and a transportation hub for the southeastern Europe and the Balkans, with the Cyclades islands, in South Aegean Region.","PeriodicalId":42414,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Decision Support System Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83792348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Five villages with major population with farming as occupation were selected. A total of 145 farmers were selected for the study. It was found that, the number of accidents by hand tools such as spades, plain edge sickles, serrated sickles, and shovels were 13 (16.45%), 6 (7.59%), 11 (13.92%), and 7 (8.86%), respectively. Also, it was observed that maximum number of male and female farmers who were victims of agricultural injury were in the age group of 31 to 45. A smaller number of injured farmers were found in the age group of 18 to 30. Factor analysis followed by the SWARA method was used to rank the important variables which were found as the causes for agricultural accidents or injuries by the responses obtained through questionnaires. Finally, QFD & Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) and MICMAC analysis was performed, to frame design requirements in the form of safety requirements.","PeriodicalId":42414,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Decision Support System Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77231885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article is a mixed method research which includes both qualitative and quantitative study. The analytical hierarchical process (AHP) is a process of ranking the critical success factors based upon the priority and in our study, we have taken nine factors that affect business performance. Then these nine factors are employed to construct a conceptual model to check the final mediation effect of the factors (full and partial mediation) on business performance. The findings in AHP show Trust (T) is having lowest priority and perceived IT security risk (PITR) has the third priority. The structural mediation model shows that trust and PITR do not have any mediation effect on business performance. Rarely any study has integrated AHP and structural mediation to check the importance of critical success factors for Cloud computing adoption in business performance.","PeriodicalId":42414,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Decision Support System Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77830812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research identified the journals and papers in the environmental domains which cite these OR/MS journals and identify the key journals, papers, and themes. This research shows that environmental disciplines are becoming more important relative to the business and engineering domains that predominated in the previous years. However, much of the citation of OR/MS journals is for techniques like data envelopment analysis (DEA) which are used to conduct research rather than directly model environmental problems. Of the modelling techniques used to address problems in the environmental domains, MCDM methods are the most often cited, reflecting the importance of MCDM with the decision support systems (DSS) field. There are also significant numbers of applications relating to logistics and energy which cite OR/MS papers. Further research is needed to clarify the role of OR/MS techniques in the environmental sector, a domain outside the traditional areas of OR/MS application.","PeriodicalId":42414,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Decision Support System Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89093902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general, contradictory factors such as availability, and cost, affects the appropriate selection which adheres to vague and inexact data. The work presented in this research deals with the development of models and techniques for planning and operation of power distribution system. The work comprises a wider framework from the siting of a sub-station to load flow analysis. Work done also shows the application of quantum- geographic information system (Q-GIS) in finding load point coordinates and existing sub-station locations. The proposed integrated approach provides realistic and reliable results, and facilitates decision makers to handle multiple contradictory decision perspectives. To accredit the proposed model, it is implemented for power distribution planning in Bihar which consists of 9 divisions. A Cubic Spline Function-based load flow analysis method is developed to validate the proposal.","PeriodicalId":42414,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Decision Support System Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74473865","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Indeed, the use of NoSQL models allows data scalability easily and the columnar store is suitable for storing and managing massive data, especially for decisional queries. However, the column-oriented NoSQL DBMS do not offer online analysis operators (OLAP). To build OLAP cubes corresponding to the analysis contexts, the most common way is to integrate other software such as HIVE or Kylin which has a CUBE operator to build data cubes. By using that, the cube is built according to the row-oriented approach and does not allow to fully obtain the benefits of a column-oriented approach. In this article, the focus is to define a cube operator called MC-CUBE (MapReduce Columnar CUBE), which allows building columnar NoSQL cubes according to the columnar approach by taking into account the non-relational and distributed aspects when data warehouses are stored.","PeriodicalId":42414,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Decision Support System Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78170793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

How to reduce transportation costs has a significant influence on competitive advantage of carriers. Although a lot of vehicle routing problems (VRP) and their variants have been extensively studied to reduce transportation costs via optimization of vehicle routes, little research focuses on how to achieve lower transportation costs through cooperation of carriers while fulfilling customer requests. This article aims to develop a decision support framework to facilitate cooperation of carriers to reduce transportation costs further based on information sharing, clustering requests, swarm intelligence, and the Shapley value cost allocation scheme. Two decision models for two carriers are compared: one reflecting the scenario without cooperation between the two carriers and the other one reflecting the scenario with cooperation between the two carriers. The simulation results indicate that the swarm intelligence and Shapley value based cooperative decision model outperforms that of the independent decision model.","PeriodicalId":42414,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Decision Support System Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90962823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
