This research was conducted to determine the effect of implementing the 5M health protocol and the determinants of vaccination on the incidence of COVID-19 in the Kota Tengah Public Health Center area, Gorontalo City. This type of research is an analytic survey, cross sectional design, with Chi-Square test and logistic regression test. The independent variables are the 5M Health protocol (Wearing Masks, Washing hands, Keeping distance, Avoiding crowds, Reducing mobility) and the determinants of vaccination (age, sex, education level, occupation, comorbidities, completeness of vaccinations), while the dependent variable is the incidence of COVID-19 . The research was conducted in November and December 2022 with a total sample of 392 people. The sampling technique used was proportional stratified random sampling. The results of the analysis found that of the 11 variables that had been tested, all of them had a significant relationship with the incidence of COVID-19, but only 5 variables had a significant influence on the incidence of COVID-19 in the Kota Tengah Public Health Center area with a P-value = < 0.05 , namely wearing a mask (0.000), keeping a distance (0.000), reducing mobility (0.000), gender (0.012) and completeness of vaccination (0.000). The conclusion from this study I that the variable that has the most influence on the incidence of COVID-19 in the Kota Tengah Public Health Center area is reduced mobility (p-value 0.000; OR 9.560; CI = 4.657-19.626), which means that respondents who never or occasionally reduce their mobility have a 9.6 times risk of being infected with COVID-19. The community should self-awarely adhere to the 5M health protocol and vaccinate so that it can prevent the spread of COVID-19.","PeriodicalId":423982,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Of Health & Medical Research","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121027045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The thyroid gland plays an important role in regulating overall body metabolism including sexual development and reproductive function. Worldwide, thyroid gland diseases are among the most common endocrine disorders in females, especially those in menopause. This study evaluated the effect of menopause on thyroid function. Methodology: It was a case-control study among post-menopausal women in Nnewi, Anambra, Nigeria with pre-menopausal women serving as controls. Sampling was by simple random method and comprised 45 post-menopausal women matched with 45 premenopausal women in a ratio of 1:1. Data was obtained with the use of a semi-structured questionnaire. The subjects’ blood samples were taken and assayed for thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine (T4), and triiodothyronine (T3) by ELISA technique. Their body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure were obtained using standard procedures. Result: The mean serum levels of free T4 and TSH in the menopausal individuals were significantly higher compared to the premenopausal group. Following linear regression analyses with adjustment for age and BMI, the the average level of TSH and free T4 were higher in the study group, while free T3 level was lower. Also, systolic and diastolic blood pressure was significantly higher in the study group than in the control group. Conclusion: The findings suggest that menopause is associated with reduced thyroid function and could as a result play a role in cardiovascular disease play a role in cardiovascular dysfunction among women","PeriodicalId":423982,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Of Health & Medical Research","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133597658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, it is important to address nasal congestion when treating these conditions. Despite the availability of several treatment options, therapy is impacted by adverse effects and patient dissatisfaction. We conducted a survey to evaluate the prescribing practices of physicians treating allergic rhinitis and sinusitis, with a focus on the formulation of topical xylometazoline with moisturizers (hypromellose and sorbitol). Methods: We surveyed the prescribing practices of 545 Indian ear, nose and throat (ENT) physicians for rhinitis and sinusitis to understand the place of the formulation containing xylometazoline and moisturizer (sorbitol, hypromellose) in clinical practice. Towards this, physicians provided their response to a 10-item questionnaire covering prescribing practice and patient satisfaction. Results: Overall, 91% of doctors reported that a decongestant along with a moisturizer would be beneficial to patients with nasal congestion due to allergic rhinitis and sinusitis, and a majority of doctors (89.5%) preferred prescribing xylometazoline with sorbitol and hypromellose. A majority of doctors reported high patient satisfaction with this formulation. Additionally, 78.35% of doctors reported high ratings for the reduction of nasal dryness. Conclusion: The overall satisfaction of doctors and patients is high, indicating that this formulation is an ideal choice for achieving relief from nasal congestion due to AR and sinusitis.","PeriodicalId":423982,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Of Health & Medical Research","volume":"427 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122821230","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current study design required rabbits (n=6) for Pharmacokinetics. In group A, rabbits without treatment were used as control. In group B, were administration of a single dose of amlodipine (0.21mg/kg.BW) for 24 hours. Group C, were administered with a single dose of amlodipine (0.21mg/kg/BW.) and clarithromycin (22 mg/kg/BW.) each 6 hr. for 24 hour. The blood samples were collected from (B and C) groups at time intervals of zero, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 96, 120, 144 hours and the drug concentrations were estimated using a spectrophotometer and estimated blood pressure using blood pressure cuff with Doppler ultrasound transducer. An increase in C max and AUC in group C (3.52 μg/ml and 130 μg/ml*h) respectively, indicates the improved bioavailability of amlodipine in the presence of clarithromycin compared with group B (2.03 μg/ml and 96.10 μg/ml*h) respectively. Furthermore, reduction in (CL) with an elevation of (Vd) in the presence of clarithromycin (54.94 L/kg/hr. and 4994 L/kg) in group C respectively, compared with group B (74.31 L/kg/hr and 3715 L/kg) respectively. We studied the influence of clarithromycin on the pharmacodynamics of amlodipine in hypertension rabbits. Interaction of amlodipine with multiple doses of clarithromycin produced a high reduction in blood pressure at 9 after administration and the blood pressure continues redaction. In conclusion, the combination of amlodipine with clarithromycin led to the enhancement of the bioavailability of amlodipine by inhibiting the CYP3A4 enzyme leading to producing a hypotension effect with peak plasma concentration effect in hypertension rabbits.","PeriodicalId":423982,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Of Health & Medical Research","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126600489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
