This sectional study was conducted with 416 female students studying at the nursing and midwifery section of the health-related university higher education institution. The data were collected with a questionnaire including 30 questions on the sociodemographic and menstrual features and the effects of HMB on school and social life. Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate the data while paired comparisons were performed with the chi-square test. The prevalence of HMB determined according to the criteria was found to be 40.6% There was a statistically significant relationship between the presence of HMB in the students and the level of the effect of menstrual bleeding on the physical activity, sleep, productivity at home, and the school, social, family and getting dressed living areas (p<0.05). Those with HMB were found to experience more shortness of breath and sleeplessness, to limit their social activities, and to have difficulties concentrating and understanding the lectures compared to those without HMB; the school success, attendance, social relationships, daily activities, self-confidence, and choosing and using clothing were found to be affected in addition to avoidance of visiting places where a long stay during the day was likely (p<0.05). We found that HMB was common in nursing and midwifery students and that it had a negative effect on the school and social areas along with many areas of their life. The students need to be made more aware of the diagnosis and treatment of HMB and guided so that they show health-seeking behavior in order to decrease the problems experienced in the school and social life areas.","PeriodicalId":422894,"journal":{"name":"GOBEKLİTEPE Saglik Bilimleri Dergisi","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133821250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The patients in the music group were allowed to listen to music (Sufi, relaxing, sounds of nature) preferred by them for 20-30 minutes half an hour after admission to the service for follow-up after angiography. No music was listened for the control group. The pain, anxiety, and hemodynamic parameters of the patients were measured before, immediately after, one hour after listening to music, and at discharge. Descriptive statistics, Student t, Mann Whitney U, Repeat Measurament, Fridman and Chi-square tests were used to evaluate the data. There was no statistically significant intergroup difference in terms of average scores of pain and anxiety and hemodynamic parameters at the baseline (p>0.05). The difference between the average scores of pain and anxiety between groups in all measurements after listening to music was found to be significant (p<0.05). The mean anxiety and pain scores of the patients in the study group were lower. In the study group, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate decreased, and oxygen saturation increased in all measurements after listening to music (p<0.05).","PeriodicalId":422894,"journal":{"name":"GOBEKLİTEPE Saglik Bilimleri Dergisi","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115854370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In vivo biochemical mechanism was determined by measuring antioxidant parameters. The rats were randomly divided into 4 groups such as control, diabetes, diabetes+NAC and NAC. A single dose of intraperitoneal streptozotocin (IP STZ) (60 mg / kg body weight) was given to animals fasted overnight. Before injection and 72 hours after injection, blood glucose levels were measured from the tail vein with a glucometer. The blood glucose levels above 250 mg / dL were considered diabetic. Animals in groups 3 and 4 did not receive any treatment for four weeks after the diabetes model was established. Four weeks later, subjects in Groups 3 and 4 were given an IP injection of NAC (60 mg / kg, prepared in 0.9% NaCl solution daily) for 7 days. At the end of the applications, all animals were sacrificed and tissues were taken for antioxidant measurements. While the malondialdehyde (MDA) level increased in STZ-induced diabetic rat’s testicular tissues, it was brought to the control level with NAC treatment. The glutathione (GSH) and nitric oxide (NOx) level, superoxide dismutaze (SOD) and caalase (CAT) enzyme activities were found significantly reduced in the diabetic group. However, NAC treatment resulted in elevated these parameters.","PeriodicalId":422894,"journal":{"name":"GOBEKLİTEPE Saglik Bilimleri Dergisi","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122995173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, evaluation and monitoring of wounds is an important intervention. The use of scales in wound assessment is one of the factors that facilitate nursing care and increase the visibility of nursing functions. This descriptive and comparative study was conducted to evaluate wound healing in episiotomy and cesarean section incisions with the REEDA (Redness, Edema, Ecchymossıs, Discharge, Approximation) scale. The population of the study consisted of patients hospitalized in the gynecology and obstetrics clinic of a university hospital between 20.06.2019 and 02.08.2019, and the sample consisted of a total of 107 women, 53 of whom had a vaginal delivery with episiotomy and 54 who had a cesarean section. Research data were collected using the Patient and Wound Diagnosis Form, the REEDA Scale, and the Numerical Rating Scale. Statistical evaluation of the data was done using IBM SPSS 22 program and R programming language. On the 1st follow-up day of the study, it was determined that the REEDA scale total scores were higher in the episiotomy group and the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). It was observed that the total scores of the scale did not create a significant difference between the groups on the 3rd and 7th follow-up days (p>0.05). In episiotomy incisions, the sub-subscale scores of the scale were higher on all follow-up days for redness, on the 1st and 3rd follow-up days for edema, and on the 1st follow-up day for discharge (p<0.05). The sub-subscale scores in cesarean section incisions were found to be higher and statistically significant on the 3rd and 7th follow-up days for ecchymosis and on the 7th follow-up day for discharge and approximation (p<0.05). According to REEDA scale scores, it was determined that the healing process in cesarean section wounds was longer than in episiotomy incision wounds.","PeriodicalId":422894,"journal":{"name":"GOBEKLİTEPE Saglik Bilimleri Dergisi","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123975458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Understanding the perspective of schizophrenic patients regarding traditional therapy is important to ensure their adherence to medical treatment. The present study aims to describe the traditional therapies used by patients with schizophrenia. This is a cross-sectional and descriptive study conducted with 180 schizophrenic patients who applied to a Community Mental Health Center. The sample was selected with the convenience sampling method, and data collection was performed by means of a ‘Demographic Information Form’ and a ‘Traditional Therapy Applications Form’. The mean age of the participants was 43.59±12.61 years, and the mean duration of the disorder was 13.10±9.28 years. While the majority of patients reported using regular pharmacological treatment, 36.7% reported receiving traditional therapy. After receiving a diagnosis of schizophrenia, the participants mostly had amulets/charms made for them (72.7%) and preferred visiting a religious practitioner/undergoing exorcism (69.7%). There was a significant difference between the use of traditional therapies and the age, marital status, education level, smoking and exercise habits (p<0.05). It has been observed that a high proportion of patients with schizophrenia receive medical treatment, and they also apply to traditional therapy practices. It appears advisable to implement programs to inform patients and their relatives/caregivers about the effectiveness of traditional therapies and the effects of such therapy on medical treatment.","PeriodicalId":422894,"journal":{"name":"GOBEKLİTEPE Saglik Bilimleri Dergisi","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133871702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
