Utilities and customers monitor the different PQ aspects for benchmarking and compatibility check. This is a second part of a paper that investigates a long term PQ measurement campaign. In this part, global PQ indices are applied to combine a number of PQ phenomena indices into one number that represents the PQ performance of a site. Two global PQ indices are applied on 64-week PQ measurements of 8 sites. The indices are compared in terms of the final rank of sites. Different levels of flexibility are introduced to the indices to consider a variable importance or priority of the phenomena and sites.","PeriodicalId":421044,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (ICHQP)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122315366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The PQ monitoring activities of distribution system operators (DSO) and consequently the amount of PQ measurement data increases continuously. To keep the routine assessment of PQ levels efficient, new and automated tools for validating, analysing and visualizing these data are required. The paper illustrates the challenges of processing long-term PQ monitoring campaigns by using measurement data at 8 different sites in public low voltage (LV) networks for more than one year (64 weeks). The paper is divided into two parts. The first part describes the measurement campaign, the pre-processing of the data and an easy and flexible way for routine compliance assessment. The second part is dedicated to the comparison of two different global PQ indices for assessing an average site performance as basis for e.g. benchmarking purposes.","PeriodicalId":421044,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (ICHQP)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128111115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the first part the severity of the produced flicker under DC supply is measured in two connection modes - with and without the rectifying bridge - in order to investigate influence on lamps sensitivity to sinusoidal and rectangular amplitude modulation of the supply voltage. Second part of the paper introduces an approach to estimate the lamps' flicker response to non-harmonic supply voltage distortion based on the flicker caused by harmonic supply voltage distortion. The approach is demonstrated upon the tested lamps and its limitations are discussed.","PeriodicalId":421044,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (ICHQP)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123068685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The development and increasing use of high power converters and the increase of nonlinear loads with high power cause unwanted changes in the electrical signal (current and voltage). These changes are called electrical disturbances. To understand such disturbances and investigate their causes, it is needed firstly detecting them. This work proposes a multidimensional approach, however with reduced computational complexity, for detecting PQ disturbances. The innovation of this work is the use of a deviation measure to quantify the PQ disturbances. The method performed well with high detection rates and low computational complexity.","PeriodicalId":421044,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (ICHQP)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117183439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed circuit contributes in reduction of the total harmonic distortion (THD) and draw harmonics current via low pass filter (LPF) and create a useful power by rectifying the distorted current via full wave bridge rectifier (convert it to DC current) and reconvert it to AC sinusoidal current by using single phase inverter controlled by PWM circuit in order to feed different loads. The circuit has been designed and simulated in the MATLAB-Simulink program. It can be concluded from the results of the simulation, that the utilized current (Iu) can be created by rectifying harmonics current Ih with simple design and low cost circuit without requiring any additional current drawn from the source and can feed RL-load.","PeriodicalId":421044,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (ICHQP)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125007097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the design, implementation and validation of a harmonic measurement system prototype for wind parks. The prototype was developed in a hardware platform that comprises a real-time controller, a reconfigurable Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and analog signal acquisition modules for voltage and current. The scalability and fast processing capacity of this hardware setup was suitable to measure harmonics, interharmonics and higher-frequency harmonics according to the recommendations of IEC 61400-21. The results were validated in a laboratory experimental set, comparing the prototype data measures with an Intelligent Electronic Device (IED), both measuring voltage and current signals from a power quality calibrator, where it could be emulated electrical currents containing harmonic components in a wide range of frequencies. The prototype proved to be accurate, even for the higher-frequency harmonics.","PeriodicalId":421044,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (ICHQP)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115242823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Preliminary studies and tests must be done during the development of the aircraft, based on the specific standards which define the expected electric power quality and the loads behavior. First, Clarke's transformation is applied to the fault signals in order to obtain the alpha, beta, and zero components. Next, the space-vector magnitude is extracted from alpha and beta components. Then, the Wavelet transform is applied to the space-vector magnitude and zero sequence component in order to calculate the energy distribution in the Wavelet detailed levels. Finally, this Wavelet energy distribution is fed up to an Artificial Neural Network classifier in order to match the input energy pattern to its output. By applying this method, an accuracy of 100% is obtained, even with noisy data. The application of this method creates an opportunity for protecting transmission lines and providing additional information to the system operator in a short time.","PeriodicalId":421044,"journal":{"name":"2016 17th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (ICHQP)","volume":"410 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122161517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
