The model called transit-oriented development consists of raising urban development projects linked to existing stations of public transportation. One of the main consequences of low-density urban development is excessive dependence on private cars. Public urban transportation complements transportation by bike or foot. It is necessary to reinforce the frequency of these services in order for them to become a real alternative to cars, especially in times of the day with major mobility demands. Urban bus services must follow a route that covers both urban corridors, thus generating synergies between different sustainable transportation modes. According to the Study of Traffic and Mobility of the city’s General Plan of Urban Arrangement, the majority of transportation is conducted by car, with a 66.7% percentage rate.","PeriodicalId":420906,"journal":{"name":"Health, Wellbeing and Sustainability in the Mediterranean City","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123986375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Up until now, QoL metrics have been mostly subjective. They are questionnaires performed by either the person on their own or a third party. Different aspects of people’s lives are considered in order to evaluate QoL. QoL metrics can be employed to determine a person’s satisfaction with their life. However, most QoL indexes have been developed to appraise if people suffering from illnesses have a comfortable life. Some of these aspects evaluated in QoL indexes can be assessed objectively by employing varied sensors that are able to monitor the environment the user lives in. In this chapter, a proposal of a QoL monitoring system for domestic environments is presented. The architecture of the system is provided as well, considering how the node, the smartphone of the user and the database interact with each other. The parameters considered in our proposal and their effects on QoL and health are explained. Temperature, luminosity, humidity, air quality and noise are the parameters considered for evaluating domestic environments. Furthermore, the implementation of a mobile phone application is proposed in order to gather subjective information on the state of the user. Finally, a multivariate statistical treatment approach is proposed for data analysis.","PeriodicalId":420906,"journal":{"name":"Health, Wellbeing and Sustainability in the Mediterranean City","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125886558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consolidating towns as healthy territories provides possibilities to visitors, including those seeking long-term stays. Academia plays a prominent role in the consolidation of healthy territories by contributing to methodologies and techniques. The health concept can refer to the different dimensions of a human being’s health: social, political, economic, cultural, biopsychosocial, spiritual and environmental. “Healthy territory” is understood to be the group made up of political and civil authorities, public and private institutions and organisations, businessmen and workers and the community in general, who in their daily lives seek to improve their living, working and cultural conditions. A healthy environment must have infrastructure that generates appropriate conditions for health, through the physical, economic and social regeneration of the environment.","PeriodicalId":420906,"journal":{"name":"Health, Wellbeing and Sustainability in the Mediterranean City","volume":"132 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127007622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main reason for this sociodemographic diagnosis is to have a greater degree of knowledge of social reality in order to face the possible risks of any political or scientific action. Sociodemographic diagnoses become a first-order tool to plan and manage municipal actions, as well as to know the contexts in which actions and decision-making processes will take place. Age and level of studies maintain an inverse relationship, since we see that the highest grades achieved in terms of educational level are concentrated in the young population, or in other words, the population groups with more advanced ages have lower levels of regulated education. The sociodemographic profile of people in unemployment shows that there is a clear correlation between age and unemployment in the municipality; this situation worsens as the population ages.","PeriodicalId":420906,"journal":{"name":"Health, Wellbeing and Sustainability in the Mediterranean City","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114202628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Building information modelling (BIM) is proposed as an instrument for complex areas such as architectural design, plant engineering, structural, infrastructural, site management, facility management and project management, off-site machining, prefabrication, assembly, planned maintenance and even building restoration. The ultimate goal of BIM is therefore to be able to control and manage through a single information model all phases of a building’s life cycle, thus minimising the possibility of error between the various phases and between the transfer of skills between various actors in the building process. In order to be able to interact with organisations and users who do not have BIM skills, simplicity and clarity of communication are the cornerstones of a BIM project. The use of BIM on built heritage of various natures can also be useful in acquiring high-quality information related to the building.","PeriodicalId":420906,"journal":{"name":"Health, Wellbeing and Sustainability in the Mediterranean City","volume":"182 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134049696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
