This work aimed to assess nurses’ knowledge about gluten allergies and lactose intolerance, as well as the principles of dietotherapy in these diseases. Material and methods . This study used a diagnostic survey method. The research tool was the authors’ survey questionnaire. The study was conducted in January and February of 2019 on a group of 306 nurses from the voivodeships of Podkarpackie and Małopolskie. Verification of differences between variables was made using the chi-square (χ 2 ) independence test assuming a statistical significance p -value of <0.05. Results . Research showed that the level of knowledge in these areas increases significantly with nurses’ age and job seniority. Among nurses working for more than 15 years, a satisfactory level of knowledge was achieved by 79.5% of respondents. An acceptable level of knowledge about the selected food allergies and intolerances was more frequently achieved among nurses from Podkarpackie (76.5%) than nurses from Małopolskie (51.0%). Respondents that actively engage themselves in solving other people’s problems (80%) showed more profound knowledge of the discussed topic. Conclusions. The study group showed sufficient knowledge of gluten allergies, lactose intolerances, and dietotherapy for these diseases. Age and job seniority have a significant influence on the level of knowledge of nurses.","PeriodicalId":41946,"journal":{"name":"Health Problems of Civilization","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71119728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason, specially designed incubator covers may be used to reduce noise and light in the NICU. Material and methods. The study was conducted as a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study, on a single group between February and May of 2015, in the NICU of a training and research hospital. The study sample consisted of 30 preterm infants selected randomly and according to inclusion criteria. Written and verbal consent was obtained from the family before starting the study. Data were collected using an information form, registration form, and sound level meter and a vital sign monitor. Results. The 30 134.93±14.63 per minute (bpm) in preterm infants in the incubator without a cover, and 131.63±11.95 bpm for preterm infants in the covered incubator. There was a statistically significant difference between the means. The mean respiratory rate at 30 minutes was 45.16±10.48 in preterms in the incubator without a cover and 41.95±9.86 in preterms in the covered incubator, and the difference between the means was significant. Conclusions. Incubator covers were effective at decreasing noise levels, and had a positive impact on the physiological parameters of preterms. an prevent...","PeriodicalId":41946,"journal":{"name":"Health Problems of Civilization","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71120451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
