Punjabi belongs to the Indo-Aryan language family but because of its tonal features it is different from other languages of the family. Every tonal aspect of [J]/h/, including most exceptions, has been experimentally examined. Words containing [J]/h/ in various positions have been recorded by native Punjabi (Malwai dialect) speakers. This data has been analyzed using speech analysis tools. Orthographically, [J] /h/ is used in all word positions i.e. initial, medial & final but is tonal in some cases. It has been pointed out in the literature on Punjabi linguistics Harkirat Singh (1991), Dr. Atam Singh (1993); it is pronounced at initial position but is tonal at medial and final position. Phonetically it is represented by a high rising tone /ó/ or low rising tone /ò/ on top of the accompanying vowel. Also, the pronunciation of [J] i.e. half /h/ is so weak that it is perceived as a tone which has also been experimentally verified. This analysis will aid the future speech researchers in building the Punjabi speech systems and speech data.","PeriodicalId":419263,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Human Computer Interactions (ICHCI)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122723091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is performed based on the similarity of sentences. Sentences may contain interrelated concepts and implementing flat clustering algorithms allows one sentence to be present only in one cluster. Also, sentences are semantically related to each other and so word co-occurrence is not a valid measure for sentence level flat clustering. So, WordNet based semantic similarity measure along with fuzzy sentence clustering algorithm is proposed. The existing system uses the Fuzzy C-Means algorithm where the cluster size should be specified as an input. Due to the rigorous convergence criteria, the time complexity is much larger. Most of the NLP documents are hierarchical in nature and so fuzzy hierarchical sentence clustering algorithm is used here. Labeling is performed for each cluster depending on the hierarchy formed and instead of considering all the terms in a sentence, only the verbs and nouns are considered for the similarity computation. Agglomerative clustering based on the verbs and divisive clustering based on nouns is proposed. This methodology is validated through various performance measures like Purity, Entropy and Time. Upon comparing the results for various datasets, it was observed that the overall improvement in purity is 36.6% and entropy is 31%. The time complexity of the hierarchical algorithm is very much less than the EM algorithm. Thus better quality clusters are formed in comparatively less time by using the Fuzzy Hierarchical Sentence Clustering Algorithm.","PeriodicalId":419263,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Human Computer Interactions (ICHCI)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117028273","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It actually defines the condition that has an impact on the individual's mental and physical health. Crossing a stress level (threshold) is responsible for the changes. In this paper we discuss how stress plays an important role in human computer interaction (HCI) and how a human interacts with any problem domain. We will discuss human approach on stand-alone systems and certain devices on which user's final outcome will be fixed and well defined. This study is based upon study on two different age group students (16 to 23 and 21 to 28 age group). We find there is unique similarity in behavior of all people towards computer system. As per study we classify human stress in six categories. The stress is changes from one form to other form as per the task. Human stress affects problem solution, solution time and system usability. Human generate various path towards the solution as well as creates various path towards solution to problem statement and this process is discussed in detail in this paper.","PeriodicalId":419263,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Human Computer Interactions (ICHCI)","volume":"28 10","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114127803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The factors like illumination discrepancy, face pose variations, occlusions, and background clutter makes face tracking a challenging issue. Even though, a number of related work have been proposed to assist face tracking in unrestrained videos, the existing approaches may not be productive in video surveillance applications. This is mainly because of the fact that low-resolution face comprises of lesser informative data, and main transformations in illumination on the face make the tracking unproductive. In order to overcome this issue, this paper proposes a novel algorithm for illumination normalization and it is combined with the GLF for face tracking for improving the overall performance of the tracker system. Experimental results show that the proposed GLF-based tracker works well under significant clarification changes and outperforms many existing tracking algorithms.","PeriodicalId":419263,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Human Computer Interactions (ICHCI)","volume":"252 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133091369","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such solutions include both primitive and complex approaches to minimize the input required from the whole of the image to form the most accurate idea of the big picture. The proposed image recognizing agent accomplishes its task though the application of a scalable neural network. Each neuron of the network focuses on a subset of the image taken as a segment. The neuron finds the closest match of the obtained subject with respect to the dynamic knowledge base. The network of neurons ensembles their decisions and provide the recognized image statement. The feedback provided to the network develops the synaptic strengths to further develop the image recognizing ability in terms of performance and accuracy. The system uses the concept of both assisted supervised learning and reinforced learning, and exploits the asynchronous and parallel computing ability of artificial neural networks.","PeriodicalId":419263,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Human Computer Interactions (ICHCI)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132457338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many feature selection algorithms have been proposed to measure the relevance and redundancy of the features and class variables. In this paper, we proposed an improved feature selection algorithm based on maximum relevance and minimum redundancy criterion. The relevance of a feature to the class variables are evaluated with mutual information and conditional mutual information is used to calculate the redundancy between the selected and the candidate features to each class variable. The experimental result is tested with five benchmarked datasets available from UCI Machine Learning Repository. The results shows the proposed algorithm is considered quite well when compared with some existing algorithms.","PeriodicalId":419263,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Human Computer Interactions (ICHCI)","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127512170","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These improved gadgets and technology basically reduce the invisible barrier between the everyday user and the system. However, these devices have their limitations and inconvenient for the user to interact with the system. To simplify this, a new system is developed which takes human gestures into consideration to perform the corresponding operation on the computer device. Hand Gesture Mouse Interface is developed to capture the hand gesture from the user through web camera. The primitive hand movement for the respective gesture is used. The relative positioning of the hand is being used in the system to ensure that the gesture recognition is made accurately. The Hand Gesture Mouse Interface simplifies the procedure which outperforms the mouse operation that is in vogue and also provides a low cost and easy to use interfacing for the user.","PeriodicalId":419263,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Human Computer Interactions (ICHCI)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123950233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Twitter, a micro blogging service less than seven years old, commands more than 500 million users as of July 2012 and is still growing fast. In Twitter, users exchange their ideas through a text based posts called tweets which can have maximum 140 characters. The prevalence and open structure of Twitter paved a way for automated programs, known as bots, which becomes a tremendous threat for its users. In this paper, we differentiate the trustworthy human users and the automated programs (bots) to make the user understand with whom they are interacting with. We developed a few sample of bot programs to compare their characteristics with the characteristics of normal human user. We observed the difference among human and bot in terms of tweeting behavior, tweet content, account properties and its networking flow characteristics. Based on the experimental results, we effectively differentiate the users into human and bot.","PeriodicalId":419263,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Human Computer Interactions (ICHCI)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117059886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
