This taxon ejects the gleba for a considerable distance as if it was cannon, and therefore is popularly known as artillery fungus. Although the species is cosmopolitan, records are seldom in regions such as South America, and many of them require greater attention due to the absence of important morphological characters. In Brazil, the South American country with most records, the distribution was restricted to a few sites, none of them in the Amazon. This study describes the occurrence of S. stellatus from the Amazon, contributing to the understanding of its geographical distribution and making the material available for future diversity studies.","PeriodicalId":41699,"journal":{"name":"Acta Brasiliensis","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68221762","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

(Anacardiaceae) is a woody medicinal plant interesting to research and conservation due to timber extraction, high pharmacological potential and cultural value in the Brazilian semi-arids. In this research, we modeled the potential distribution of the species in the Neotropical, identified the climate limiting factors of its distribution and measured the percentage of adequate protected areas. The model was generated in the Maxent software, through the combination of 469 registers of the species occurrence and nine climate variables from the WorldClim data base and presented good development  (AUC = 0.976).  The potentially adequate areas were estimated along the dry diagonal in South America, in addition to fragmented areas at the coast of Peru and Ecuador. Precipitation, temperature and atmospheric humidity were the most influential variables on the prediction of climatically viable areas for the species. The results indicate low representation of protected areas (0.003%) in highly adequate areas, which demonstrates the necessity of expansion, implementation of measures of conservation and management of S. brasiliensis. The findings in this study, therefore, can be used for scientific support on delineating these measurements.","PeriodicalId":41699,"journal":{"name":"Acta Brasiliensis","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68222143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The entire predation event lasted about 90 min and ended when predator tore integument of the prey's ventral region, facilitating swallowing. The distress call description was based on a record of 40 s containing seven calls, consisting of a pulsatile and harmonically complex structure composed of two notes. Although the batrachophagy is well-documented in the genus Leptodactylus, descriptions of predatory and defensive behaviors are not fully described. Thus, the defensive behaviors observed here made predation a physiologically taxing event, while we look at how the predator can use various mechanisms to overcome prey defensive behaviors.","PeriodicalId":41699,"journal":{"name":"Acta Brasiliensis","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-05-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68222088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ensaios fotocatalíticos foram realizados em 10 mL de soluções de Sertralina com concentrações 10 mgL-1, adicionados dos diferentes semicondutores (10 mg). As amostras foram submetidas a radiação (UV) em cinco tempos de degradação (0, 5, 10, 30, 60 e 120 minutos). A determinação da concentração da Sertralina foi por cromatografia líquida de alta eficiência com detecção UV (CLAE-UV). Degradações de Sertralina de 51%, 74%, 75% e 83% foram determinadas após aplicação da fotólise, fotocatalise TiO2, TiO2-Mn e TiO2-B, respectivamente. Assim, a maior eficiência no processo de degradação, foi determinado para o semicondutor de TiO2 dopado com Boro. Deste modo, a aplicação do processo de fotocatálise pode ser de grande importância nos processos de tratamento de efluentes e, a inserção de agentes dopantes pode tornar os semicondutores mais ativos em processos de fotocatálise.","PeriodicalId":41699,"journal":{"name":"Acta Brasiliensis","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2019-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68222065","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
