To answer this question, a multilinear narrative illustrating the impact of emerging technologies on the future of vocational education was developed, and a small field study was conducted to evaluate its effects. The findings support the hypothesis that narratives can trigger a reflection about new and disruptive technologies and can thereby help to propagate a humanistic view of our ever more technology-driven world.","PeriodicalId":416504,"journal":{"name":"Information Engineering Express","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122710331","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although quite common and easy to obtain, many people today find it difficult to identify the correct ripeness stage of banana, especially when purchasing from traditional vendors, where varying degree of ripeness are available. This research sought for a possibility to classify banana ripeness by its peel colour with HSV colour space as the feature and classified using Nearest Centroid Classifier (NCC). ‘Ambon Lumut’, ‘Kepok’ and ‘Raja’ bananas are used as examples for the research as they are among the most common types of banana available for many use in Indonesia, and its ripeness is divided into 4 classes according to different usage of the banana: unripe, almost ripe, ripe, and overripe. Photographic images of ‘Ambon Lumut’, ‘Kepok’ and ‘Raja’ bananas are used as training and test data. The experiment is conducted using cleaned images which have the background re-moved, and this experiment also resulting in 73.33% recognition. The recognition results for each class respectively are: Green = 93.33%; Almost Ripe=80%; Ripe=66.67% and Overripe=53.33%.","PeriodicalId":416504,"journal":{"name":"Information Engineering Express","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126223663","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, we consider that management policy may affect a company’s profitability. This study examined management policies from manufacturing companies and extracted keywords that influence profitability. Management policies and profitability [measured by the return on assets (ROA)] data were collected from annual securities reports, because the report descriptions are accurate, and the reports are easy to obtain. The management policies were written in natural language, and the analysis data were complex; therefore, we used a neural computational method known as “potential learning,” which can interpret internal representations. To extract keywords that influence profitability, we designed a classification model of profitability with the management policy as input, and a model with an accuracy of 0.6115 was created. The results suggest that the management policies of highly profitable companies are diverse in using the word “improvement,” which may influence the ROA.","PeriodicalId":416504,"journal":{"name":"Information Engineering Express","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130205007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
