{"title":"Discursos y prácticas en torno a la construcción de una “escuela cubana de composición”: José Ardévol, el Grupo de Renovación Musical y la Orquesta de Cámara de La Habana (1934-1946)","authors":"Belén Vega Pichaco","doi":"10.7764/res.2019.45.4","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.7764/res.2019.45.4","url":null,"abstract":"El objetivo de este artículo es el estudio del proceso de construcción y difusión de la categoría “escuela cubana de composición” a través del análisis de los discursos y las prácticas desarrollados por José Ardévol y el Grupo de Renovación Musical. Este propósito requirió la negociación de aspectos como los de “tradición” e “identidad”, que poseían para Ardévol (un compositor catalán emigrado a la isla en 1930 y acérrimo seguidor del Neoclasicismo de Stravinsky y Falla) significados divergentes a los propugnados por la generación anterior de compositores (Amadeo Roldán y Alejandro García Caturla) y por Alejo Carpentier, principal sancionador de la historia musical insular y firme defensor del afrocubanismo. En el primer apartado, el concerniente a los discursos, cobran relieve los escritos del líder renovador y en especial el “manifiesto” colectivo Presencia cubana en la música universal (1945) que, paradójicamente, propiciaría la desintegración del grupo.
